Rock Band - Impressions...
Moderators: Bill_Abner, ScoopBrady
I downloaded a couple of handfuls of RBN stuff, and while nothing really rocked my socks off overall I think the charting is pretty good. Some of the mixes seemed a little off, with the vocals in particular being too low, but I noticed it with other parts as well. (Some guitar was really hard to make out)
Out of what I played the Hold Steady track and an instrumental called 'The Heist' were probably my favorites.
Hopefully one of our DSP musicians will get on there!!!

I finally took the plunge to expert level after playing RB for 2 years. Guitar hasn't been too bad if I don't run into any crazy solos, but drums are definitely a challenge. Trying to get my right leg and right arm to move independent of each other is pretty tough, but at the same time, it's nice to play charts that mimic all the notes in a song.

What's crazy is that I guess the RBN store can update **daily**, or as soon as these songs make it through review. 11 new songs up today (getting Code Monkey):
Song Title - Artist
Bleeder - Alchemilla
Cali Girl - Ballyhoo!
Push Push (Lady Lightning) - Bang Camaro
White Heat - Cetan Clawson and the Soul Side
Stegosaurus Song - Eric Harm
Code Monkey - Jonathan Coulton
Gave It Up - Pollyn
Makeup/Breakup (Original Version) - Super Gravity
Packet Flier - Terrorhorse
Genius - The B.O.L.T.
Minnesota - Voodoo Pharmacology
Jeez, this is going to get messy. Hopefully there will be a RBDLC-like site to help rate and track all these. Could get enormous!
Also, next week's 'regular' store update sees some of the White Stripes' biggest hits, among others:
Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (March 9) and PlayStation 3 system (March 11):
The Futureheads – “Decent Days & Nights” +
The Futureheads – “Hounds of Love” +
The James Gang – “Walk Away” +
Neil Peart – “The Hockey Theme” + *
Shaimus – “All of This” + *
Shaimus – “Tie You Down” + *
The White Stripes – “Fell in Love with a Girl” +
The White Stripes – “Seven Nation Army”
The White Stripes – “You Don’t Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You’re Told)” +

I'm sure I'll be getting those Dead songs eventually, but the studio stuff just isn't quite all there, you know? Even so, I've enjoyed some of the Dead stuff a lot more on the higher difficulties, and Phil is always crazy to play! Those new ones should be some good choices.
I've really enjoyed most of the Hendrix a lot, btw, even though I've only played them a few times. Not every song on that record is my favorite, but so many of them are so freaking good. I'd love to get in more online time with you guys someday. The Beatles is still really good stuff, too. There's nothing like that Abbey Road B-side, you know? I just wish they would have done Revolver and maybe the entire white album, but oh well. My time may loosen up a bit this summer for the occasional online sessions if you guys are up for it.

The gaming gods are laughing at me this week. First the MLB 2k10 patch, now this:
DLC for May 25th.........Pantera!
Wait, wait.......It's only the Southern Trendkill album (and missing 1 track no less)
WTF. The DLC this year has been a huge letdown. No new Beatles DLC, and when some metal does appear it's either live like British Steel or it's the weakest album from a band I really like. Oh, plus I'm on the PS3, so I don't have access to the best DLC of 2010 which is on RBN.
