Crazy thing is.. Right after the Falcons lost to SF.. I said SJ would be a Falcon.. seems like a perfect fit.
It's a GREAT fit, I'm totally with you on that! I might have to get a Jackson Falcons jersey for my birthday. :)

Now the only problem is that he could simply be Turner 2.0. May be washed up, or he still legit just got bored playing for a loser every year. I wonder which version the Falcons are getting?

And speaking of the Falcons...how does Tony Gonzalez go from being retired to a 2 year contract? LOL...seems like a one year would be more appropriate.

It's hard to say when Steven Jackson will decline, but the guy has been productive and consistent -- four yards per carry every season except one. Plus he's a good receiver. For what the Falcons paid, I think they'll get their money's worth and he will be better than Turner.

He had his moments but just not enough of them... With a qb who actually looks at him he might be good. I don think he had that many of them but somehow I just remember the drops :P

Depends on the money...terms not disclosed yet. Under 4 mil per for 3 years (this was confirmed), then I'm cool with that for the 4th receiver.

Guess Jake Long wanted to go to the Rams after all. Gonna miss him from 2010...not the 11 and 12 version.

I figured they would come to terms at some point, great signing for the Rams. They have to protect Bradford, he's about as immobile as they come. :)

So like Jake Long the last two years? Eeesh. Speed rushers cause major problems. But going from a zone scheme to a power scheme will help him at least.

I'll quote myself for fun. Gibson's deal is 3 years 9.78 mil and really only the first year is guaranteed, but he's still cheap in the last two years of the deal as well. Just what I was hoping for. ;) Good signing, and I am going to assume that Devone Bess gets traded or released. We'll see.

Most of the pundits i've read have given the Dolphins between a B and C- during FA. They say Wallace was an overreach and too expensive. They also said they should not have cut LB Dansby. I liked Dansby but with their moves at LB with Ellerbe and Wheeler, they got younger and less expensive at the position.

I'm really curious what they will do during the draft.

That's actually wrong...it's slightly more expensive for their LBs now. Keep in mind that the Dolphins during the Burnett and Dansby tenure have had the least takeaways in the league. Sure, they were solid LBs...but just not playmakers. The Dolphins need to find defensive guys that can make plays and get the ball back for the offense. They haven't done that in the past few years. Sean Smith is another example...decent cover corner, but can't catch the ball for sh*t. He's easily dropped 2 or 3 times more interceptions than he's caught. EASILY. Need to get younger and hungrier. So I agree w/ the moves on the defensive side at least.

Ive seen a lot of experts as well say they haven't liked what the Dolphins did. My answer to that is, they have been to the playoffs once in the past 11 years. What they have been doing isn't working. So being aggressive, signing the receivers and trying to get younger and faster at the LB's, I'm all for. They needed to do something. The only area that really concerns me is CB. Hopefully they plan on addressing that need in the draft. Also, they should pick up another RB too. I like Miller, but Thomas is a waste.

Thomas can play when he's healthy. That's his problem.

One theory I heard is that Ireland is trying to save his job, so a lot of spending this year, even if it messes the cap up in the future.

Or he has the backing of the owner, because they're interested in upgrading the stadium and hosting more Superbowls and it would be easier to get political approval for these changes with a winning team.

I buy into Ireland wanting to save his job but more importantly I think the owner is tired of playing second fiddle to the Miami Heat. In Miami LeBron and the Heat have replaced the Dolphins for fan interest. I think the Phins owner wants to reverse that and I can't blame him.

He has a sh*t ton of space...and there is a salary floor. You literally HAVE to spend money. He lost 6 core players already (Long, Bush, Smith, Burnett, Dansby, Fasano) and he's just replacing them. Not sure why there is some "conspiracy" about Ireland. They've had those six guys for years and haven't been to the playoffs. Time to re-design the team. It's not rocket science.

You know much more about Long than I do. I hope they really looked at his condition, which I assume they did.

Well look at it this way...most teams don't let stud LTs walk for like 8 million per year unless there is a reason. I'm not saying he's damaged goods, it's just that he's been injury prone the last two years. If you get a healthy Jake Long, you'll be stoked. If it's anything other than that...you'll be disappointed. Word is the Rams gave him a 12-13 hour physical doing all sorts of tests so clearly they are comfortable with his health status right now. We'll see.

Mizz I agree with db. It's not so much the injuries which there were some but his level of play really dropped. When he came into the league he was a monster at LT. The last two years have seen a decline in play. He looked pretty bad in a few games where Tanny was eaten up.

Jake Long is a character guy so no issues there but I hope he picks up his play.

The NFL passed the helmet rule. It appears to be just for the offense. It's going to be pretty weird looking. Next stop NFL Flag Football. ALL ABOARD !!!!
