In a welcomed surprise return, the Cowboys welcomed back injured starting RB Marion Barber, and what a return it was. Returning from a 5 week stint on the dl with a herniated disk, Barber picked up where he left off in rushing for 123 yards on 16 carries and scoring 3 td.

Cowboys QB Tony Romo had one of his best passing games of the season throwing for 327 yards while going 20 for 24 and passing for 1 td.

Romo's favorite target of the season has been TE Jason Witten, and today was no different. Romo connected with Witten for 11 receptions 191 yds and a td. Witten is second in the DSFL in pass receptions

The game was not without drama, as the Saints jumped out to a 28-7 lead in the 2nd quarter after scoring 21 points. The scoring included a 50yd fumble recovery for a td by LB W. Smith after a sack of Romo, a 1yd run by the RB Bell, and 2 td passes by Drew Brees for 67 and 23 yards , to Meacham and Moore respectively. The Saints were able to sack Romo 3 times during the game

The Cowboys didn't panic as they were able to outscore the Saints 31-7 in the 2nd half on the arm of Romo, the hands of Witten, and the legs of Barber, who scored all 3 of his td's in the second half, following a 10 yd td run early in the 3rd quarter, by Felix Jones that was setup up by a 64 yd scamper by Barber.

The Cowboys were able win the game 38-35 on a 40yd field goal by K Nick Folk as time ran out.

The Boys move to 11-3 and hope to clinch a playoff spot and the division as they head to Fed Ex Field to face a Redskins team that doesn't want to be labeled a spoiler, but as a contender.

I'll more than likely lose--your defense has been pretty solid this season from what I can tell.

But tonight at around 10:30 or 11PM ET? I want to try to catch the MNF game, but if you have to go earlier I could play around 8:30 or 9ET.

I'd rather watch the game myself as well so 10 or 11 CT is good for me if you want to start it later. I figure the way both of us play the game will last 30 minutes. :)

Cleveland gets TWO turnovers for touchdowns in the final two minutes of the game to knock off the Chiefs 28-17. One coming off an INT with the Chiefs driving, Eric Wright returned it 77 yds. The next came on the ensuing kickoff when the Chiefs returner fumbled and Williams scooped and scored.

The Chiefs kept it close as the Browns were limited to 87 total yards Offense.

Clevelands other two scores came on punt return by Josh Cribbs and nice TD pass from Quinn to to Cribbs for 26yds.

Steelers fall to the cpu Packers 23-18. First play of the game saw Aaron Rodgers throw an int that was returned by William Gay 29 yards for a touchdown, but the Steelers drunk kicker would miss the extra point so Pittsburgh was only up 6-0. Green Bay scored a touchdown on their next possession and never fell behind the rest of the game. Roethlisberger had 3 more ints through 2 1/2 quarters before he was pulled in favor of third stringer Dennis Dixon who did lead the Steelers on a touchdown drive that was finished by a 1 yard run by Willie Parker, Dixon also went on to throw 2 ints himself.

Roethlisberger finished the game only completing 2 out of 17 passes for 26 yards while Aaron Rodgers finished 17 out of 25 for 208 yards. Santonio Holmes was the only bright spot again returning a kickoff 100 yards for a score for his 4th td return of the season.

Pittsburgh finishes the season 1-5 against the cpu and will host the Ravens next week while Green Bay hosts Seattle.

Un-freaking-believable. Down 31-7 and you still pull it out? Forget it, I dont deserve the NFC East title.

Actually it was 28-7 and 35-14, but it was an outstanding game and I was nervous as hell. I was actually scared to throw as I was worried about potential int's. But I found some plays on O and D that were successful, and probably got really lucky, because Brees was hitting every open receiver in the first half.

Crazy. Just crazy. I can't imagine the CPU challenging me, but apparently I haven't them on the right day. From time to time I've notice some of the better human players having close games or even worse losing to the lowly CPU.

Either way, to come back from 21 down TWICE is damn impressive - especially in these short games. Kudos to you my most hated rival.

Raiders 20, Broncos 0

Raiders put up 231 rushing yards as a team and hold the Broncos to 81 total offensive yards. The Broncos had two turnovers in the red zone that really hurt them in the game.

The quarterbacks were abysmal, with Kyle Orton completing 8 of 17 passes for 76 yards with an interception and one fumble on sack/strip by Kirk Morrison just before halftime. Jeff Garcia didn't fare much better, completing only 5 of his 9 pass attempts on the day for 56 yards and 1 interception.

As it has been all season, however, the Oakland tailbacks completely controlled the game. None of them went over 100 yards, but they all had heavy contributions.

Darren McFadden - 11 carries, 79 yards (7.1 average)
Michael Bush - 10 carries, 70 yards, 2 TD's (7.0 average)
Justin Fargas - 7 carries, 85 yards (12.1 average).

The Oakland backs combined for a whopping 121 yards after contact as the Denver defenders couldn't seem to bring them down on the first hit...ever.

Broncos rookie Knowshon Moreno carried 5 times for 12 yards (2.4 avg) and Deuce McAllister added 2 carries for 6 yards (3.0 avg).

Good game, Danimal. Sorry, man. I could hear the frustration in your voice as your defenders got run over. I just wasn't sure what to do other than keep running. To throw it in those situations seemed even worse.

Short write-up as I'm a bit under the weather.

The Bears took to the road and beat the Baltimore Ravens 45-24 to take their record to 12-2. Devin Hester had a monster game with over 330 total yards to lead the vistors to victory, and Brian Urlacher overcame an injury to pick off Joe Flacco twice.

The game was closely fought in the early going, with the Ravens trying to use ball control to stop the hot Bears scoring machine. The Bears scored on the opening drive, mixing up run and pass to excellent effect. Jay Cutler read a Ravens blitz and hit Darrell Jackson for a 30-yd strike to put the Bears ahead early.

The Ravens countered with a huge 80-yd drive consuming over 6:00. Willis McGahee scored the first of his two TD's to draw the hosts even early in the second quarter. Jay Cutler led the Bears on an answering drive, taking the ball in from the 1yd line.

It looked like the Ravens were going to even things again, moving quickly down the field as the 2:00 warning approached. The Bears made their stand at their 35 and the Ravens elected to try a 52-yd FG. Devin Hester fielded the short kick and returned it 104 yards to put the Bears up 2 scores.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

A terrible play by CB Peanut Tillman let Derrick Mason get free for a 38-yd answer from the Ravens, and the Bears managed a 34-yd FG to close out a hectic 2nd quarter.

The Ravens closed the Bears advantage with McGahee scoring on an 8yd out from Flacco.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

But the hosts would get no closer. Hester narrowly missed his second TD of the game on the ensuing kickoff, going down on the 18. Matt Forte scored on the next play. The Ravens looked to answer, but Urlacher made an athletic play for his first pick of the day.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Cutler capitalized on the good field position to fire a short TD pass to Gregg Olsen for 5yds. The Ravens would only manage one FG for the duration, and the Bears would add a short TD run by Kevin Jones (subbing for an injured Forte).

The Ravens dominated almost all of the statistical categories, but the 2 turnovers and the FG return were too much to overcome. Cutler finished a very efficient 11/14 for 215yds and 2 scores. Forte grabbed 78yds on 10 carries, but missed time due to injury. Hester had 200 return yds and another 137yds receiving. Joe Flacco was 21/34 with 2TDs and 2INT's. McGahee had just 25yds on 8 attempts.

Good game, Scoop. Just a ridiculous break for me getting that FG return, and once you had to abandon McGahee it was a different game.

There was no frustration towards you and the way you played it's towards the game. You can be the best Madden player ever, but in no real world scenario is the above going to happen. It was impossible for my guys to bring you don't on first contact, hell I would say that 2 and 3 on 1 tackles weren't even getting the job done. When McFaden breaks a 3-1 tackle, then gets suckled into a 5-1 and breaks that, well at that point it was ridiculous.

I stacked the box, I brought corners on your outside runs. I did everything you could do to stop the run and when there weren't gaping holes my guys just wouldn't tackles yours. Do you use the Left Trigger O Line adjustments by chance? I never use those and If you do use them then I am going to start based on last night.

I get frustrated when plausibility goes out the window and that's what happened last night IMO, it was still a good game but frankly we could of played all night and I wouldn't be able to stop the Raiders rushing attack, that statement alone makes me want to vomit in my mouth. :)

I don't know about Terry, but when running inside the tackles I almost always use the O-line adjustments. It's particularly useful for creating great lanes for cut-backs.

I do still think that even post-patch it's a bit to easy to break tackles. At least 1-2x per game I'll have a little guy like Hester just shrug off a tackle attempt...and that translates to even more bulldozing for the RB's and TE's, who actually have some heft.

By sometime next week we should be in the playoffs if my logic is correct. This means for those of us not in the playoffs and also those teams as well, you should start preparing for the off-season.

1. Players on IR

Teams with players on IR need to post in the FA thread whether they are reclaiming those players or not. If they are you need to post who you are releasing. You can do the actual release and claim after the season is over. In other words I will give you the word, just start thinking about it.

2. FA Draft

Per the rules I posted last week and in the first post you will be exposing guys to FA. (Jared - I liked your idea but there was too much work involved for me at this point, possibly next year if this system doesn't turn out well)

You can post those guys in the FA thread starting after your last game. You don't need to release them, I will handle all of that.

My Offline franchise I have the tackle slider at like 85, imagine if we could have custom sliders in Online, I can see why they left them out I mean who would use them

Nothing as far as Left Trigger OL adjustments. Never used one in that game.

The only thing I do is a lot of pre-snap reads as far as number of blockers on number of defenders, "fake" audibles and whatnot.

But the absolute biggest thing there is is not using turbo at all until the tailback was at the edge or past the LOS. Breaking tackles in this game is all about when you do it. You have to wait for the animation to start before you attempt a break, which is pretty bizarre.

A lot of times on a counter or an edge run I'll take a VERY slight wiggle toward the line so that it sucks up any perimeter defenders before trying to bust it outside, and as long as I'm not using turbo, it's very tough to stop. It forces a player to play the right position, guess correctly, and then not miss that first step to shut down my running game...but on nights like last night, where your guys can't even bring them down with a solid hit, I have no idea what to say.

I haven't been gashed like that in any of my online franchise games, but I tend to use a safety to "mop up" the plays or square up with LT just before hitting them and mash X like I'm trying to blow it through the back of my controller.

I dunno, that game seemed to flip on that horribly thrown ball by Orton on your first drive. Up until that point, it seemed the Broncos were making every critical play on each third down. I'm willing to bet you had 3 out of your 4 first downs in the game on that initial drive. After that, it's like the entire team sank in a hole or something.

Oh no. I just finished my 4th beer in 40 minutes and plan on playing the CPU 49ers tonight.

Vegas spread just went from Eagles -17 to +3.

Philly playoffs are on the line. A loss means Zeppo's Redskins could sneak in. Stay tuned...

Ok, 5 beers deep and I'm still beating the CPU 9ers. 17-10 in the 4th qrt.

...edit....

49ers just scored a TD to tie. Pressure is on.

...edit...

Drunken Eagles handle 49ers 24-17. I'm surprised I played this well after 5 Guinness.

Rams 10, Texans 3

St. Louis notched its second victory against a human opponent while Houston remains winless against carbon-based owners as the Rams downed the Texans 10-3.

Houston moved the ball effectively on their first drive, but facing fourth and one from the Rams 10, the Texans elected to kick the field goal. Both defenses kept the opposing offenses in check for the rest of the half, until the St. Louis offense finally got moving late in the second quarter, setting up a 41-yard field goal that made the game 3-3 at halftime.

The Texans received some bad news at halftime, learning that quarterback Matt Schaub, who had been knocked out of the game in the second quarter, would be unable to return. "I think God hates us," Coach Brando said when receiving the news. Backup Rex Grossman was erratic in relief of Schaub, having trouble finding open receivers against the Rams defense and overthrowing them when they did get open. He finished 6-of-15 for 65 yards.

The Rams pounced on the opportunity by engineering a 14-play, 77-yard drive that lasted seven-and-a-half minutes. While the Texans stuffed the Rams running game, quarterback Marc Bulger lit a spark under the offense, picking apart the Houston zone coverage. The drive ended when Bulger fired a perfect pass to receiver Ronald Curry for a six-yard score and a 10-7 lead.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Bulger would finish an efficient 16 of 23 for 199 yards and the one score.

With four minutes left, Grossman and running back Steve Slaton did move the ball into Rams territory. The Rams defense held, however, and Grossman had four straight incompletions to turn the ball over on downs with 59 seconds left.

The Rams needed a first down to put the game away, but Coach XXXIV, miked for the game, said he knew they would turn the ball over. His fears appeared alleviated when Steven Jackson broke a 12-yard run on third-and-four. Texans cornerback Fred Bennett kept the game alive, though, when he managed to strip the ball from Jackson, allowing defensive tackle Shaun Cody to scoop the ball up and give the Texans another chance.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Steven Jackson fulfills Coach XXXIV's self-fulfilling prophecy of turning the ball over. On the sidelines, the two had to be separated when Coach XXXIV screamed at Jackson, "I told you to cover up the (expletive) ball, you (expletive)!"

Grossman hit a pair of passes and got the Texans to the Rams 30 with six seconds left. He aired out a final pass to Andre Johnson in the endzone, but the Rams secondary broke it up, preserving the win and clinching the NFC West.

The Rams will fine-tune for the playoffs with games against the CPU Cardinals and 49ers, while the Texans face the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots before heading into the comforting arms of the offseason.

The visiting Falcons edge the Jets in a defensive minded 13-10 game played in the pouring rain. Sorry no replays or big write up. Some stats:

Falcons Jets
Total yards 286 222
Rush yds 45 28
Pass yds 182 69
Turnovers 1 1
TOP 24:37 7:23

Falcons threw a big INT on first drive after stopping the Jets on the opening possesion. Ryan tried to force a throw into the end zone around the ten yard line and the Jets took it back almost all the way for the TD. T. Jones punched it in from the five. The Jets would see the red zone only one other time the rest of the game.

Slumber...great game. I got lucky there at the end on those overthrown balls. You had the perfect play called both times. Your D totally stuffed Turner...I had to start throwing the ball more in the second half.

Very good game! Sanchez was awful... but I could have put some touch on those last two passes as well I suppose. Key play was that last touchdown pass for your guys where you got behind my blitz and then threw it perfectly. Was fun trying to plan against your offense, trying to account for Turner, passes to the flats, and passes over the middle, while trying to throw some pressure in there from time to time as well. I did okay, but my offense was nowhere. I've had two sh*tty games with Sanchez in the rain. WHATTUP ROOK?
