AFI, I used to love that band. Then they stopped playing punk and became an emo gothy band. I'd love to see there first three albums on rock band but i doubt there is any demand for that.sportdan30 wrote:Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (Nov. 17) and PlayStation 3 system (Nov. 19):

Guys, I'm a total novice to the rock band/guitar hero games and am in need of some advice.
My wife just bought my 7yr old son Rock Band Lego/360. I need to find the best peripherals for the game. I'm looking to keep prices reasonable, so need to tell me about $600 drum sets, but I dont want to buy junk either.

I picked up Refugee, enjoyed it thoroughly! I don't usually enjoy "live" versions of songs, but these were fantastic. If you want an idea what they sound like, look up "Tom Petty Live" on Youtube.Zeppo wrote:I'm looking forward to Rubber Soul, but I do wish they would do Revolver as well.
Has anyone tried the new, live Petty stuff? Are the recordings good? Are the charts fun?
Can't believe the Beatles have so many hit songs still to be released! Just when you think there's no more DLC to be had.
While I definitely agree with your overall sentiment, at least this one will be exportable to RB2, so depending on how many tracks are included and how much both the product itself and the export fee costs, it might be a serviceable option for a decent addition of tracks.Danimal wrote:So Rockband Greenday huh...
Nice to see that Harmonix / MTv are going the route of GH and are going to bleed us with individual band versions.
What a crock of s***.
If I had to guess pricing, though, it would probably need at least one price drop before it becomes attractive to those still adding tunes to their music platforms.

Except for those of us with a Wii. I bet it won't be exportable on that platform, just like Lego:RB and RB1.Danimal wrote:I hadn't read that, i guess that make it a little better.webdanzer wrote: While I definitely agree with your overall sentiment, at least this one will be exportable to RB2,

Probably very true, but I think that's more an issue with the platform (no HD, less storage, more limited DLC marketplace) than the developer.matthewk wrote:Except for those of us with a Wii. I'm now getting to the point where I just may make a big mess and make the conversion from the Wii to the PS3 for Rock Band.
The limit on SD cards and the lack of "cooperation" between RB1, RB2, and L:RB are pushing me to the edge. I can safely assume absed on these events that future support for the Wii will minimal as well. I have a 2GB card, but I can see filling it up within 6 months. After that my only choice is to get another card, since 2gb is the max on the Wii for Rock Band. Not a big fan of switching discs, and now memory cards.
Are there any surprises on the PS3 that would steer me away from making the switch? I realize I'll have to re-purchase all of my DLC for the PS3, as well as the games and hardware. I figure after selling the Wii stuff and getting the PS3 stuff I'll be down about $120, but going forward I feel I'll be much better off.

Well, I caved and dove into Rock Band for the PS3. Getting the RB2 full bundle for $100 and Lego for $30 made it a bit easier to pull the trigger. The only problem now is convincing my son that we no longer need the Wii versions.
I've never bought anything online through the PS3 either. What do I have to do in order to get DLC on the PS3? Do I first need to obtain points like I do on the Wii? Can I do that with just a credit card? Where do I start with this?

Both. You can buy prepaid cards or provide your CC information and buy contents that way.matthewk wrote: I've never bought anything online through the PS3 either. I made a mistake when I was transferring my content from my old XBox to my new Elite. I decided to just use a mem card and re-download my DLC so I wouldn't have to wait for a transfer cord from Microsoft. I thought I had Rock Band still in my possession, so I didn't transfer songs from the original game...only to find out I must have traded it in.
The question is: can you transfer songs from a rented copy of RB1? Or is it a one-time use thing?

Yes, you can transfer songs from a rented RB1 rented copy.Brando70 wrote:I made a mistake when I was transferring my content from my old XBox to my new Elite. There is no one-time use code.
So I was doing the endless setlist in Rock Band 2 last night and figured I might as well go for the bladder of steel achievement while I was at it.
I was using the guitar from Guitar Hero World Tour as it has been the one I have been most comfortable with. Put a fresh set of batteries in and hoped nothing would go wrong such as a system freeze, power outage or even falling asleep, well I make it to song 60 and all of the sudden none my strums are registering, figured out after almost failing the song that the down strum quit working on me.
I didn't want to pause and switch to another guitar and lose the chance at the bladder of steel achievement since I was already 4 hours into it so I ended up finishing the last 24 songs by up strumming only. At least that kept me alert the rest of the way as I have always played by down strumming only.

Viacom points to Rock Band as $$ sink, looking at cutbacks:

Not a surprise as everyone knew the genre was sliding, but I wonder how far it will go. Will RBN be a flop?
I don't think things are completely dead yet. I can see a return of some interest if one of the developers actually does something interesting with a sequel than having it be simply another track pack.
