I'm pleasantly surprised with how well Sira works on the iPad. I've never used it before. So, it was great to find out who won the Dodgers game last night without having to spend a lot of time looking it up. Also, it was pretty cool to ask Sira what the weather was going to be today without automatically having to go to my weather app. I don't know how much I'll really use it, but it's nice for quick answers.

Maps sure is getting some bad press over at Macrumors. Again, I don't have an iPhone so it doesn't affect me.

The clock is pretty nice, and I dig the alarm clock where you can choose a song from your playlist.

First time trier as well. While I am in Hong Kong on business, I decided to give it a quick try on the iPad and Siri was good in telling me how the weather would be in the next few days accurately, but had no clue about the subway system and which station to take, which of course is extremely efficient here.

Yeah, Maps is a mess.

Lot of people are hoping Google will put out their own Maps app, as they did with Youtube.

But if the theory that they declined to renew the contract or terminated it are true, then maybe Google sees this as a strategic move.

Besides their search engine, all the map data they've built up over the years is going to be hard to duplicate.

I'm pretty much in agreement. Awesome phone...just not innovative from a software standpoint and doesn't take any real chances to make the OS stand out. Mass market...absolute killer phone.

Yeah and I'm sure they will be really quick to get it approved. LOL.

F*cking iOS6...want to go watch a youtube video? Good luck. My iPad 3 is borked right now and it pisses me off. Not quite enough to get me to get rid of the device, but pretty close. These companies with their big swinging d*ck contest is hurting the consumers, and it's Apple who is right smack in the middle of all of it. Little b*tches.

I think I made a big mistake upgrading my Ipad 3 to IOS6. There really isn't anything in the upgrade that is a big plus over the previous version IMO and a couple of big minuses that have been pointed out. Sure, Siri is nice but to me at the moment that's pretty minor compared to the clusterf*ck they've made of the maps.

Should have waited before upgrading.

Totally agree...luckily I've still got my Nexus 7 w/ the real Maps and Youtube apps. :) Android for life. If they ever come out with one with an LTE connection, buh bye iPad 3. There are rumors after all.

Yeah, I have no intention of putting iOS 6 on my ipad 2. No reason.

Yep you're set!

One thing that Apple's move has done is greatly reduce the likelihood of me picking up another Apple product such as a macbook or even iphone. I'm looking at picking up a laptop and was considering the new model, even at the ridiculous pricepoint, because I've gotten quite frustrated with all the problems windows can throw at the user (my MS Office recently quit working and the fix is a massive pain in the ass in time and effort). So I was looking seriously at a move but IOS6 is akin to the middle finger.

Unfortunately, I've had nothing but awesome luck with my MacBooks...they do build the best laptops as far as I'm concerned. And w/ regards to something like the 13" Air @ 1199, it's competitively priced w/ the top end Ultrabook PCs on the market right now, so there really isn't that huge price premium unless you start maxing out SSD storage space and processors...or if you go with the Retina 15" Pro. The "Apple tax" has been going down of late, so that's not a bad thing for sure. Being able to run Windows Natively is also a huge plus for any apps that need the Windows OS to run. That was the first time I got a Macbook...when I was able to run windows on it. Smartest thing they ever did.

I want a desktop replacement so I was looking at the macbooks with the retina screens. Not sure though how easy it would be to run windows natively at the higher resolution - I was looking a one example on a website recently and it looked a bit awkward and clunky to set up.

Funny enough, Windows 7 actually runs better in terms of utilizing the screen resolution than even OSX does. It does a lot better job of scaling fonts and icons, whereas in OSX the text is either really big or really small. I purchased a Retina 15" and ultimately returned it. It is more of a toy for me, so the extra cost, albeit for a really nice machine, wasn't worth it. It's a hell of a device and if it's replacing a desktop, it's recommended and I wouldn't worry about Windows running on it...it's been known to be pretty well done.

Probably should stop talking about this in the iPhone thread...I believe there is a new Apple products thread we can use if you want to continue. :)

Really surprised no one has gotten their iPhone 5s yet, or at least not come on here to brag about it yet. I've got one sitting on my desk right now, tho it's not for me. LOL. It's pretty damn nice looking, that's for sure.

RICOH technician just came by with a white iPhone 5 and I most say it's freakingly good looking.

Not gonna get it myself, but I must say I got a bit of phone-envy for a couple of minutes.

Feels light!

First thing I tried was typing, and yes, it's a lot more comfortable now with the extra room.

More info on the screen on websites too. But this all of this has been mentioned on reviews already so no surprises.

The maps are def weaker, but I never really "used" the maps beyond looking-up where some restaurant is located & such. How dependent are people on the maps? For actual 'turn by turn voice' NAV, I use GPS Drive. It does great & only .99.

But actually that's precisely the part that DOESN'T work. Looking up locales and finding things in your vicinity. The streets and navigation directions are fine for the most part.

As someone with an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2, so far, the only iOS 6 things I've found any use for is the the Facebook integration similar to that of Twitter and that you can now associate your phone number on the iPad for iMessage. I always hated that the ipad had to just use the Apple ID addy. Other than that, meh.

You can't go back to older iOS.

Well I had used the Maps on iPad to plan some trips, used the StreetView, which works better than on my computer.

So that's what I'll miss from the old Maps. Otherwise, iPad is too big to use for navigating, either in the car or on foot. Plus, mine is only a Wifi SKU.

I could see getting a 3G or 4G model though if I get a smaller tablet. Turn-by-turn navigation would be one of the main reasons to do so.

I'm bitter. First off, I missed the early preorder window because my alarm didn't go off so I could order at midnight (3 am EST). I ended up ordering at 6 am on the 14th. A friend of mine ordered his later in the day (afternoon actually) and he just received his shipment confirmation email. Me, I got nothing. I'm pissed.

That's what you get for being a Philly fan. Even Apple hates Philadelphia. :) The left coast is the best coast as 2pac would say (either hologrammed or alive).

I can understand the hatred from a Braves fan but if you want to talk hip hop...the east coast destroys the west coast. Always has, always will. West coast is the east coast's little brother.

I'm still bitter. Almost called Apple's customer service just to see what they would say.
