MLB 2K7

I guess I'll find out soon if I can get back into this game or not.
There's no doubt The Show dominates in the gameplay department, I think we all agree with that... but I think some of us like the direction MLB 2k is heading and like some of what they did accomplish this year.
I REALLY hope Brinkman is working his a** off for MLB 2k8.

I think pitch speed at 50 gives the best results. You can read the pitch types better and I feel like you hit fewer home runs on the slower pitch speeds. The ball just doesn't come off the bat with the same velocity.Slumberland wrote:I haven't, but I don't like that pitch speed set to 100 stuff. It's just guess pitch type and pray. No time to react.

I agree, and if you get good settings of the throw balls/strikes ahead, behind & overall, the pitcher will nibble, and the pitches are just close enough not to take and just far enough to swing and miss,spooky157 wrote:I think pitch speed at 50 gives the best results. Ha! No we are playing MLB tweakfest 2k7dbdynsty25 wrote:Isn't that what you guys are already playing?Inuyasha wrote:At this point, I think I'm looking forward to 2k7 arcade version THE BIGS.

I believe the BIGS will be untweakable.
I'm not sure if i mentioned but i was getting sick of the incredible diving AI on defense, if you rasie the AI infield/Outfield error sliders to 70 it pretty much stops that.
I think the aggressiveness sliders are the way to go to tone down the diving and home run robbing. turn them all the way to 0kicko wrote:Ha! I've lost like five in a row with the Royals on pro defaults... maddening! I came within one out of being no-hit by Steve Trachsel... STEVE TRACHSEL! Anyway, I'm having fun. Conversely, I'm running a Mets franchise where Pro seems very easy. It really seems like team selection might be everything, which makes sliders difficult. I do have hot/cold teams on as well, which might be effecting things.
Nothing can save this game from the inevitable moniker that it is a HR fest...Sliders don't matter...You can tune them to your little hearts desire or turn them off or turn down all the POWER but the bottom line is HR's are gonna keep plaguing this game.
Nice effort by 2k and better than MLB2k5 and 2k6 but the HR's are a game KILLER...H4ead 2 head play is nothing but HR's and stupid ones at that...Pitch it outside and low and these guys are PULLING the ball for mammoth HR's???...ARCADE...The game sure looks purty though...But thats all moot because the game play is fun until you realize everything is about HR's

I just played a game, my Cubs vs Phillies. Phils win 3-2, there were no homeruns hit. in fact throughout my gm career in which I've played every game, I have had very few home run fests. I'm really glad that I'm enjoying this game. Its too bad that few others are.

I'm not finding it to be a HR-fest at all - Online or off, but I do read lots of posts like this.Afrodamus wrote:Nothing can save this game from the inevitable moniker that it is a HR fest...Sliders don't matter...You can tune them to your little hearts desire or turn them off or turn down all the POWER but the bottom line is HR's are gonna keep plaguing this game.

Is there a particular slider set or some tweaks you can through our way?TheGamer wrote:I just played a game, my Cubs vs Phillies. Thanks!
I'll post the sliders I'm using in the MLB 2k7 slider thread. I get good results from them, and 2 of my adult nephews enjoy them also. they are basically a tweaked version of the "creating the perfect sliders" set from OS. I highly recommend those and adjustments to your tastes.

I don't know why it didn't dawn on me earlier, but I think the reason this is the HR fest it is,and correct me if I'm wrong...but at least for me, when using the "hitters eye", the majority of the time,I'm guessing Inside and tight or low and outside. And the AI chucks the pitch to either one of those spots(and in my experience, mostly low and outside)75 to 80% of the time. Rarely do I see the "other corners" thrown to. And even if I guess wrong ,than I go to the other spot, and usually with good timing,I'm going to put a good swing on the ball, and hit it hard. Hopefully the programmers take this into account, and take this game to a good level, because it is graphically gorgeous.

Yeah, I see that too. So, I cranked up aim for the corners & lowered throw strikes overall. I swing too much to ever make BB's a problem. So at least this way, some of the pitches I hit are outside of the zone and don't go too far(more foul balls too). The nice thing is the CPU will surprise me with one right down the middle every once-in-a-while & I strike out looking. bastards!snaz16 wrote:I don't know why it didn't dawn on me earlier, but I think the reason this is the HR fest it is,and correct me if I'm wrong...but at least for me, when using the "hitters eye", the majority of the time,I'm guessing Inside and tight or low and outside. It's not the HR's that bothered me at all. In fact, after turning down the power settings, I think 2K7 and The Show have about the same HR rate.TheGamer wrote:I just played a game, my Cubs vs Phillies. The game sure is pretty, but after a few weeks I got over the look of the game and was left with a game that just didn't "feel" like baseball compared to The Show. To me, 2K7 was very similiar to previous efforts and the pitching interface is just not challenging at all to me. I can throw a pitch to any spot in the strike zone I want almost all the time. Makes pitching a boring experience. I tried using those other meters and while they did make it harder to hit spots, I just didn't like using them. Also, the lack of camera angles, the lack of foul balls, walks, wacky AI, fielders bumping into walls and falling down, lack of hit variety....all just got to me after a while. It's not a horrible game. It just doesn't hold my interest very long.
