Agreed. I had to call my wife in during some of the 'phone' scenes and go "you know, this is the type of stuff you get when you get real special forces soldiers to tell the story, instead of a Hollywood-ization".

I'm sure it's still dramatized a bit, but it certainly feels quite a bit more real than most shooters I've played. And yeah, the car scene was crazy. Wasn't expecting that.

I love the dotted line to real missions these guys have done. Like the SEALs taking out the Somali pirates who hijacked the Alabama. But man, the cut scenes, especially the last few were...wow. Like watching Act of Valor.

That's awesome cuz I gamefly'd it just to play through the single player. I always do that with these shooters and then if the multiplayer is cool, I keep it around, but I always do the single player missions. Those always seem interesting to me.

Very interesting. I am going to finally take the wrap off and give this a shot.

This is far more 'real' and far less bombastic than most FPS I've played. You'll enjoy the story.

You might want to read some reviews and check metacritic before removing that wrap.

Yeah, multiplayer could suck for all I know. But in the single player campaign, simply holding the LB to peek using an analog stick and not a massive on/off switch to lean around cover is gold. As a single player shooter, it's very engrossing. I doubt I'll ever even log into the multiplayer servers, so I can't comment on that.

It doesn't suck. It's not the second coming, but game reviews are like movie reviews; only you will know if you like it or not. I very much enjoy MP, and the SP is, as has been attested, very good stuff. Choose who you'll believe, but I'm not the least bit disappointed in it.

Terry, the peek/lean function exists in MP as well. I would have to guess that the CoD crowd isn't warming to it, and for my sake, I hope they all go away when CoD comes out. When the game is played the way it was meant to be played, it's fantastic stuff. Sure there are some bugs, but they'll be worked out, and many of them already have been.

Yeah, I figured it would be there in MP. I just have no interest in shooters for multiplayer, to be honest. I always try them at first and never have the desire to play them more than a night or two.

This game is getting absolutely hammered in reviews, I just don't get it. I felt the last one was extremely underrated too, but these reviews are just killing this game. Guess you can put me in the small minority of people who like it.

Never understood why the last one got hammered either. Guess it's because it's not COD or MW. Oh well...I'm sure I'll like it if it's like last years MoH.

So does this one. I think it simply boils down to...it's not CoD, it's not trying to BE CoD (and if it DID try, it would be written off as derivative, so damned if you do...). Seriously, the MP is really fun, and is well done. It's alot like last year's game, and I LOVED that one. I'll just never understand the way people look at this one, like it's some bastard stepchild of CoD or something. Idiotic.

Same thing happened with Operation Flashpoint: Red River. It got eviscerated because it was tactical and slow-paced. It's the best military shooter I've played in the one year I've owned a 360.

Well if you read the reviews it is getting hammered for not being original and trying to be a COD knock off. In fact most reviews are killing the game for just not doing anything new. $60 for a 6-7 hour single player campaign that most are describing as been here / done that and a game should get killed.

Now would these same sites do that to COD Black Ops 2? Probably not which is just hypocritical.

Plus as Teal says you're the best judge of what you will like. I choose to skip it for the same reason I will skip Black Ops 2 and most likely every other shooter until the next Rainbow 6 and that's because to me they all feel the same at this point.

I'd rather play another Op Flashpoint type game then another one of these type games.

Regardless I'm not here to piss on anyones parade. I only posted because people on the fence might want to wait, with those review scores this game will be half price inside a month.

Played a bit more of the MP last night and I'm really enjoying it...BUT...

Combat Mission is nowhere near the same as it was in the previous version unfortunately. :(

It's the same in theory, but what it is this time around is just the 3 bombs to detonate in sequence across the same maps that are used for all the other modes. It's basically 'Hotspot' but in sequence. Still fun, but not even close to the same as before. Too bad...

Yeah, the maps aren't quite as large, or open, in CM, Spook, but by and large, it's the same mode. The map makes the difference, and they are quite a bit more confined than the last game. I think because I've spent so much time playing GR:FS, I actually prefer Hotspot in Warfighter, because it very much resembles Conflict.

But I played several rounds of straight up team deathmatch last night, and that was a lot more fun than I usually have with TDM. Maybe because it's not CoD...lol.

I played some Sector Control last night. I died a lot. Like, a lot.

Still not quite like COD though because you can't do nearly as much Rambo-ing. Run around on your own and you will get dropped pretty quickly. I think some players are starting to learn the maps, so my ignorance led to me getting shot in the back/side over and over.

Yeah, Sector Control hasn't done much to win me over, much for the same reason. I think that the maps are too confined to play a classic Battlefield mode very well.

Man - the actual gameplay of the MP in this game is really, really well done. I still can't get over how this has all the elements to be a CoD frantic mess but somehow feels totally different. Even with all the "perks" and faster pace it feels more strategic and competitive.

However, I am still struggling with the freaking interface in the menus. Holy crap what a mess. Upgrading and switching out weapons and parts is a nightmare.

Also - I cannot figure out for the life of me what all the 'Warfighter Tokens' are for and how to use/access them? After every match I level up and get new "tokens", but what are they for? And after every match I see some stat in the upper left that says I am not in a Warfighter nation yet. Where the hell do I set that option?!?!?

EDIT: Okay, just figured it out and all the token crap is for the Battlelog stuff. It's there where you choose a Nation and spend tokens to increase your nations points. Very confusing still but at least I know it has nothing to do with upgrading my stuff in the game.

Spooky,
You're absolutely right about the frontend user interface being a total nightmare. Once in game it's tits, but figuring out what you've unlocked, how to switch out parts / upgrade weapons, etc is a colossal mess.

I hate that it will indicate that you have like 9 weapon unlocks or whatever, but going in and trying to figure out what weapon(s) they are for is ridiculous.

Yup, interface sucks, agreed.

I do however like the single player campaign so far. Seems to be a little different from the norm and has a lot of interesting storylines and plot points. Definitely a good rental in that regard, worst case, even if I don't ever touch the MP.

It has to mentioned that the sound in this game is absolutely fan-f*cking-tastic! Holy crap the use of surrounds and the gunfire/explosions are top notch. One of the best sounding shooters I've ever played.

Sound is one of those things that kind of blend into a game and never really get recognition. But this game really stands out to me.
