The non-suction block line play had a huge trickle down effect to the Road To Glory QB mode. I played a couple games at lunch and was stunned that my CPU tailback actually cut through the right hole, or fought through a tackle attempt for a first down. Was refreshing to be able to rely somewhat on my running game instead of watching 1st and 2nd down runs turn into 3rd and 14 pass attempts.

Just bought the PS3 version. I need to stay away from these types of threads this time of year. :P

Sell 'em both and get the game and some pizza. This is easily the best NCAA game EA has released to date. It's not perfect, but it doesn't need to be.

Fairdale Kings are supposed to be out late tomorrow or Thursday, according to the OS thread.

And this is really stupid, I know...but being able to customize your high school team, schedule, and opponents really got me pretty pumped. I just spent the last 15 minutes researching my high school's footballs schedule. Found the matching teambuilder teams for all of their opponents, so I'll end up playing my local HS' season with my player before going off to college. I don't know why I love that so much, but it's pretty damn cool IMO.

Great to hear all the positives.. I loved 11 and the few gripes I had with sound like they are gone.

I know I am accused of being pro EA, except for a contingent of pro EA guys at OS who call me a hater.

anyway here are Abner's impressions and I don't think he has ever been accused of being pro EA.

Happy to hear that. I was starting to wonder if there was something wrong with Chrome or something. We used to embed EA stuff all the time. Must be the newer forum.

I just a finished another game and have to say we are looking good so far.

After the first practice warm up game against NIU I bumped up the competition and brought the Long Horns into Ann Arbor to face my Wolverines. This turned out to be the winning pass play in a 25-15 Michigan victory with about four minutes to play.
http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/80819687

Loving it but not everything is perfect. So far in the two full games( played a couple of random qtrs to get the cobwebs out) I have only seen one fumble( which I recovered to keep the ball) and only two penalties. I have been playing seven minute qtrs. It is a VERY tiny sample at only two games but it is something to watch.
I know I know a couple of years ago the complaints were about too many fumbles :P

Bottom line. So far the game is great fun and I really am looking forward to a DSP league.

Look mom, I bought a college football game and then spent most of the day playing high school games. Seriously, RTG is addictive as all get out. I cannot stop playing it.

The cpu running feedback you guys are reporting sounds promising.

But why do I have a strange feeling that the enhancments to the cpu run game in NCAA won't be found anywhere in Madden :(

Still holding off, just not into football yet. But NCAA is sounding good again.

I asked one guy who has the game what he thought about it compared to 11, on a scale of 1-10 , 10 being the biggest # of changes, he gave it a 4. 4 is good since 11 was a solid game and they improved it. He did say it's not worth $60 but if you can find it cheap, it's worth at least $40.

See, I don't want to argue with anybody on their opinion, as it's exactly that...an opinion.

But the game changed drastically for me with the complete absence of suction blocks and true momentum based tackling. I had wideout get clipped on the hip, which led to a very natural-looking spin animation where he started to go down. As he was about to drop to his knees, the safety caught him right in the shoulderpad--and stood him back up. I stood there for a second, dazed and confused, as I thought the play was over. Nope. I took off again after a second, shocked at what I just saw. And that was in my first game.

Playing on defense, it was incredible to string out a play and get around the blockers without magically getting sucked into the FB or pulling guard.

Watching a LB keep his position in the zone, and then just reach out and knock my pass down--yet floating it over his head a couple downs later meant I didn't see a warping super LB. He couldn't reach it, he didn't make a play on it.

Seeing the CPU tailbacks really cut through the hole and get upfield in a hurry--and the CPU QB assess the field and take off on a scramble--are game changers for me.

I don't know what people are expecting for it to be "worth $60", but if what I've seen so far isn't, I have absolutely no idea what people are looking at anymore.

Terry how does High School thing work? The RTG (I suppose) mode you were talking about? I didn't play an ounce of it last year so I don't know. I guess what I'm asking is...you're allowed to set up a high school team and other H.S. teams and play as your player on the high school team you created?

Yeah, it's the RTG mode. But when you start, you choose your high school nickname (cities are from a list, so that sort of sucks if you're not from a major city), and your school colors. But if you've uploaded a team to teambuilder, you can download the uniform and use it for your high school. Then you can customize your schedule and opponents so you can play out your high school season. When you edit your opponents, you can change their uniforms as well (and I'm pretty sure you can import teambuilder uniforms for them too, but I'll find out in a few minutes when I go home and set up my actual RTG career instead of the rush-job I did at lunch). But you only play one position on offense (and one on defense if you decide to ironman it and pull double duty). You're only playing one player on the field and you don't call the plays, the coach does.

I've had more fun with the RTG/Superstar modes the past few years since I mostly play the AI and it's a bigger challenge just to execute the plays than call them myself and stay in my comfort zone. But being able to play my full HS season before declaring for college is pretty slick this year.

In the state HS championship game. 4th and goal from the opposing team's 8 with 4 seconds left in the half. Game is tied 7-7. CPU makes me punt. Wtf!? I've seen several odd things like this so far. I've spent over 12 hours today playing this game and am still having a blast despite some of the oddities.

I don't remember these type of problems in 11. I've read on other forums similar cpu clock management issues. Still not sold yet to go out and buy it, will wait until next week as usually the first 2 days of impression threads are mostly positive.

I'm really pulling for Madden this year......hope I dont get burned.

I think I read they are supposed to be in Madden. But EA's said that in the past where it turned out the feature wasn't in madden or wasn't done as well as NCAA.

toon : OS has a post stating the patch ruins some of the gameplay and/or graphix. Have you experienced this when playing the game pre and post patch? or it isn't noticeable?
