NFL Season 2010

Re: NFL Season 2010
That rule is an unfortunate case of unintended consequences. The rule was but in after the Emmanuel play in the NFC playoffs a few years ago, and it's really intended to address situations where the the ball is underneath the body of the receiver. A few hours of improved editing and re-drafting could probably clean it up to better limit its application to the appropriate scenarios.

You mean like the tuck rule?...In that case with the Pats and Raiders we had what any moron can clearly see is a fumble turned into an incomplete pass. the consequences. 1) the right team won 2) No publicity is bad publicityRobVarak wrote:That rule is an unfortunate case of unintended consequences. .
I think the league is perfectly happy with the consequences of yesterday call. 1) you got the right team winning 2) No publicity is bad publicity.
This way they can rule anything anyway they want and say it was the rule. Isnt why they did NOT apply it to the Saints in the SB?

I gave it a shot

Re: NFL Season 2010
Didn't get to see the game do to many soccer games this weekend, but several people told me Bradford looked great, which is all I care about at the moment.

Great is quite a bit of a stretch unless they were talking about his composure.MizzouRah wrote:Didn't get to see the game do to many soccer games this weekend, but several people told me Bradford looked great, which is all I care about at the moment.
He looked good enough that I can see where there might be light at the end of this never ending tunnel of misery.

Re: NFL Season 2010
That's probably relative to what Rams fans have been watching since Warner left...he looked okay to me, but they had multiple chances to beat the Cardinals who are pretty bad this year, and he couldn't do it. It was his first game, so he gets some credit for sure tho. He's an upgrade so far.MizzouRah wrote:Didn't get to see the game do to many soccer games this weekend, but several people told me Bradford looked great, which is all I care about at the moment.

Yes, composure.. plenty of dropped passes, etc... the last two INT's were desparation throws, etc..XXXIV wrote:Great is quite a bit of a stretch unless they were talking about his composure.MizzouRah wrote:Didn't get to see the game do to many soccer games this weekend, but several people told me Bradford looked great, which is all I care about at the moment.

Better than fckign Bulger.. LOL!

We will see how we do against the Raiders.
Re: NFL Season 2010
Clayton had a career day... lol.. Bradford doesn't have many weapons at WR though and Arizona knew Jackson was going to get the ball. Looks like we are on the up and up though.. just going to be a few more years.dbdynsty25 wrote:That's probably relative to what Rams fans have been watching since Warner left...he looked okay to me, but they had multiple chances to beat the Cardinals who are pretty bad this year, and he couldn't do it. I thought Bradford looked pretty good. Definitely better than the average first-starter. He got flustered a few times, but he seemed to move through his progressions surprisingly well. He's definitely got the physical tools.

So did Ryan Leaf...it was the "other tools" that are the problem. Hopefully for Rams fans...that's not the case. He appears to have his head on straight.RobVarak wrote:He's definitely got the physical tools.
Re: NFL Season 2010
I don't think Leaf ever looked as poised or aware of how to make his reads as Bradford did in just one day.

Looks like the Jests have a sexual harassment case over this. Can't say I blame them.

Jets offense = bad
I guess I was wrong about Sanchez.

Maybe the Bills don't have the worst offense in the AFC East, after all.

Ray Lewis is a bad man... wow can he play football.
Re: NFL Season 2010
Just won my fantasy league by .02 points 110.12 - 110.10. The last play of the game to Keller (my opponents TE) almost gave me a heart attack. Incredible!

Take it from a Bills' fan: Sanchez looked like Trent Edwards last night.

And Mark Sanchez made Chad Henne look like Payton Manning. There offense looked dreadful, how many 1st downs did they have last night, 6 or 7? That's painful. The biggest play for them was out of the Wildcat.
The Chiefs looked good last night. Their RB and KR looked really good especially their KR who almost broke one and had a long return on his next attempt.

Re: NFL Season 2010
You wonder if the Jets won't sour on Sanchez, instead of the confidence in him depicted in Hardknocks.
76 passing yards is not going to cut it, even for a conservative run-oriented offense.
QBs need a lot of time to develop but with the Jets' high expectations, is he going to be given time to go through growing pains?

Re: NFL Season 2010
I think it's dangerous to draw any meaningful football conclusions from Hard Knocks, but the one thing that kept occurring to me as I watched was that they seemed like they had worked hard to convince themselves of Sanchez's quality. As a Bears fan, I'm acutely aware of the symptoms of organizational self-delusion.wco81 wrote:You wonder if the Jets won't sour on Sanchez, instead of the confidence in him depicted in Hardknocks.

Re: NFL Season 2010
To be fair to Sanchez, he is playing probably the toughest D in the league. He didn't throw an INT, which is a huge improvement from a year ago and he had a chance to win it at the end. I didn't watch the Chiefs/Chargers game, but didn't Cassel have about the same stats as Sanchez (10/22, about 70 yards)? I remember Sanchez throwing pick after pick against Patriots' porous defense.Rodster wrote:And Mark Sanchez made Chad Henne look like Payton Manning. Re: NFL Season 2010
I don't understand why the Jets have such high expectations, they only made the playoffs last year because the Colts and Bengals laid down the last 2 weeks. Sure they got hot in the playoffs but it's not like they we're a powerhouse.

Re: NFL Season 2010
I hope people don't think i'm anti-Sanchez because last year I thought he played decent for a rookie and showed promise to play in the sports pressure cooker known as NY. Something changed cause last year he was slinging it. Yesterday was different because all I saw were check downs. Did the coaches tell him not to take chances? He's got playmakers on offense and didn't use them effectively. So I don't know if last nights dreadful performance was on him or the coaches putting a short leash on his arm. I don't know yet.WillHunting wrote:To be fair to Sanchez, he is playing probably the toughest D in the league. As for Cassell, it was raining hard at times during the game so I expect any QB's stats to be off. Charlie Weis is said to be working on changing his mechanics. But in the end the Chiefs won on big plays and beat a good Chargers team and the Jets played good D but gave up way way way too many penalties on D. And the Jets first 6 points came off turnovers.
