Humping and bumping rhymes better. :)

I HATE the truck events! Those trucks are so sluggish and the AI bumps you all over the place....especially at the start.

I thought about that...but when's the last time you heard "humping" with reference to car racing? Maybe the pace notes referring to going over a "crest" may work. :)

Yeah, that word works best for the BACKSEAT of a car maybe...

I played this game a bunch last night, and couldn't help but think about getting home and playing during the day today. Now that I have made decent headway into my career I am loving the game even more than at first. The events are getting better and more challenging. I also have gotten to the point to where I am very comfortable with all the disciplines and tracks. The designers did a great job of graduating the difficulty to meet the player's increased skill and track knowledge as the game progresses.

Love the offline, and really having fun online too. Great game all the way around. I just wish they had included a large section of standard rally.

Next up for me NFS Shift, then Forza 3. I am in console racing Heaven.

In the game that still bears his name here, I've just unlocked the Colin McRae Challenge, a rally championship containing the Mk II Ford Escort being rallied by his dad Jimmy, brother Alister, his Scottish racing friends David Coulthard and Dario Franchitti, two bike racers, Pastrana and Valentino Rossi, who got into rallying with McRae's help and Colin's rallying idol Ari Vatanen. I've also just noticed the achievement, In His Footsteps, for matching Colin's 25 world rally wins. On the second anniversary of his death, it's very nice to see the game has something to show he's remembered.

I had to force myself to save the challenge for tomorrow and settle for winning the X Games USA tonight because it's past 3am. I switch this game on for a couple of quick races and the next thing I know I've been playing for three hours. I'm 25% of the way through now and, apart from the co-driver sometimes abandoning his pacenotes after a little bump to tell me there's no damage instead of telling me about the corner I'm about to miss, I haven't had anything happen while racing that's even begun to irritate me. It's like motorised crack.

Let me just say that the rally stages, with the technical notes, are superb. I'm really digging the game the more I get into it. I'm liking the trailblazer stuff more and more, as you really have to pay attention, and it's really intense. I just entered the 'elite' stage of the game, and even on 'casual' it's competitive. I'm really impressed.

Very cool that the Codies paid homage to Colin. VERY cool.

One thing that I've been wondering about and I'm still not sure of, what exactly does changing the difficulty do? Obviously it reduces your number of flashbacks, but does it make the CPU cars/times faster?

I've settled into savage difficulty myself.

been wondering the same thing. I am on whatever level gives you three flashbacks, I want to bump it up but am afraid the CPU times get too hard for me. I am having a bit of trouble in the head to head races.

And not just in name, as the rally events themselves are VERY close to the classics in the Colin McRae series. In fact, the scottish guy who does pace notes sounds alot like Grist.

All CPU cars put up faster times whenever the difficulty level is increased.

Like you guys, I stick to mainly Savage level for now while playing through DiRT Tour mode. Savage provides good balance to me -- earning good money yet still progressing at a steady pace. I occasionally switch up to Extreme level when racing in Gate Crasher events, but that's about it. Those insanely fast times that are posted by the lead CPU cars on the Hardcore difficulty level seems impossible to reach without meticulously tweaking the car setup properly going into the race, which I don't plan to get into doing for the time being.

I hope that's in style rather than accent, otherwise eyebrows will be raised in the Grist household, and the rest of Wales too :P . I know what you mean, though - the co-driver's delivery is very similar in pace and tone, and very easy to follow. I tried the female co-driver for one rally and switched straight back to him; something about her note-reading grated a little, though if I'm honest I couldn't put my finger on exactly what.

I'm running on Savage too. It's generally got AI quick enough to be competitive without forcing me to start tweaking setups, which is exactly what I'm looking for, though I'm winning the Trailblazer events far too comfortably and should go up a level there.

Yes, yes, I do mean style. No one sounds quite like Nicky.

I unlocked the highlights package of McRae yesterday, I think before or after I beat the Colin McRae challenge. Man, what a well-done tribute, showing clips of his highlights and showing some of his quotes. Driving his old cars that are unlocked is simply awesome. They handle like a dream and look nice. I have played this game a ton and am only a third of the way through the career mode. This thing is massive.

What's weird is IGN said the game is on the short side like 8 hours to complete the game. Everyone who has commented on the game has said just the opposite.

IGN's credibility is not the strongest in the world. There is no way in hell you can complete the career mode in 8 hours. Maybe there is a special p***y difficulty setting Codies sent to the IGN reviewer. After reading the laughably bad NHL 2K10 review at IGN tonight I am inclined to say that these guys don't play some of the games they review for very long, so they talk out their ass quite a bit as a result.

Really enjoying this game guys.

You think there is any reason to keep Dirt1 around? I almost traded it last night, but thought about saving it for the hill climbs.

I can't imagine playing Dirt much after playing Dirt 2, but if you think you would, then yeah...that's a very subjective question.

If you still play the hill climbs...keep the original Dirt. That's one MAJOR disappointment in my mind in version 2. I'm thinking about getting the original again just so I can tear ass up Pikes Peak. Everything else about 2 is better, but the hill climbs are still a major omission. I just think it didn't appeal to the Mountain Dew/Red Bull crowd because it was you by yourself against the mountain. Why do you think they added staggered starts this year with other cars on the course, even in the Rally stages?

Which is easier to play? I still don't have either one.
