Like it's Ron Turner's fault that he can't beat a Defense with 9 guys in the box when his QB can't get the ball in the same zip code as his receiver past 15 yards downfield?

This is the life they chose when they picked Orton. Grossman is inconsistent and turnover prone, but can hit the HR ball. Orton is accurate inside 12 yards and historically poor beyond that. It's a lose-lose situation, but they went with the safer option hoping that the Def and ST would make up the difference. It almost did today, but not quite. Get used to it.

Bruce with 153 yards, including a big play in OT to set up the winning FG.

Didn't think he still had it in him.

Doesn't have the speed to run away once he catches the ball but he was getting behind the defense BEFORE he caught the ball.

Tough pill to swallow for the Seahawks after leading most of the game only to lose it in OT. With five-six WR on the sidelines, nobody expected SEA to put the numbers that they did but two key turnovers in the 3rd quarter did the damage, allowing SFO to come back despite Hasselbeck heroics.

Not to be outdone, I thought J.T O'Sullivan did a great job for the 49'ers and he was instrumental in their comeback win. This game was all offense.

Isn't Ed Hochuli supposed to be one the premier refs in the NFL??? Holy crap, did he blow it big time. I haven't been this upset about a Chargers loss since... er... well, last week.

Here's the part that pisses me off the most. The ball went BACKWARDS out of Cutlers hands, and yet Ed called it incomplete!! What?! What the hell did he see??? Man I'm pissed...

Yeah it was a double whammy as far as a missed call.

I found the replay machine not working on the Bailey "int" strange as well.

How about Brandon Marshall, coming off 1-game suspension?

That's some passing attack Denver has.

Guess it's time for the Dolphins to hand the keys to Henne. He was the only person that looked decent today in the embarrassing loss to the Cardinals. Wow, that was bad. I'm sure the Cardinals were relaxed for Henne's drive since they were up 3 scores, but still...he has an arm that Pennington clearly doesn't and he can actually make throws to the sideline.

I mean, we knew the Dolphins weren't going to be THAT good...but why spend 11 million on a QB that might win you a few more games, but that's about it. Might as well just let Henne learn on the job. He was by far the most impressive QB this preseason as well...I think he's earned his shot. Alas, we'll see Pennington under center next week.

Not just the end, they got predictable and went into the patented RT we have the lead lets play like were in a shell.
Bears D took the last qtr plus off though....They get a 14 point lead in the 2nd half they should win.

In their defense (no pun intended) the field position all game favored Carolina.

[quote}That TE Olsen...needs to learn how to hold onto the ball.[/quote]

Yep, I'll give him a break it's one bad game. I can name 5 other guys who played bad as well.

Wow, there are a lot of people to blame for today's loss and you pick Orton. This is why I love Chicago fans :) I'll take him over Grossman is that's my choice and since it is my only choice thanks to Angelo so be it.

I don't know how anyone can be a Turner supporter it blows my mind, guy is horrible at least this is the last year of him.

It's not that I'm a Turner supporter, but why blame the coordinator when his TE fumbles twice and his starting QB makes Chad Pennington's arm look like John Elways?

It would be one thing if Orton was a rookie. Ignore all the media day BS about how he's matured. He was Shane Matthews with a neckbeard in '05 and he still is. He can't throw the ball accurately downfield. This is not a secret and it's not the offensive coordinator's fault. Hell, it's not even Orton's fault. Get used to seeing defense after defense committing 8 and even 9 guys to the box because the Bears can't burn them deep with Orton at QB.

I'm not even upset about it. Orton's a valid choice over Grossman kind of like cholera is a valid choice above yellow fever :) You just have to be prepared for what he brings and doesn't bring to the field.

I'm not supporting Orton, he should of hit Booker. But think about that Booker is our gtg on long passes? I'll give Loyd credit, he adjusted to that ball in the first quarter. If that's Berrian he just keeps running and it's an INT.

The Bears should of won that game and all the crap about Briggs hit firing up the Panthers is crap. The Bears played horrible and still if it weren't for two bad fumbles and a crap load of penalties would of come out with a win.

I'm just confused how you give up on Forte in the second half? I don't have the stats but I felt like they only gave him the ball on second and long. If it's me I run that guy to he can't walk anymore.

Carolina were playing with 9 guys up (sometimes 10) with nobody over the top. They could've run him more, but he may not have been able to walk tomorrow. And how do you think 91 year-old Marty Booker got behind the D? No safety to be found.

You're right. It had nothing to do with the Briggs hit and everything to do with the halftime adjustment to sell out the pass and let Orton try to beat them deep.

I'm not blaming Orton. And I agree they could've easily won the game. It's just going to be tough going for them now that the league has seen that the Bears OL isn't as bad as last year and that Forte is a runner to be feared. This is not the last 8-man line that the Bears are going to see.

They had 8 guys in the box in the first and second half, the safeties were flying up on run support. If you go back and watch the game the Bears mixed up their sets in the first half and not in the second.

They ran a lot of single back sets with 3 wide outs etc. in the first half. In the second half they ran a lot of power or off set I sets with 2 backs (i.e. what I like to call the Ron Turner shell) a lot of that had to do with field position but you have to take the training wheels off and be aggressive.

I don't care who your QB is if a team puts 9 in the box and you split out 3 wide and they don't cover up any QB is going to hit 5-7 yard passes all day. The Bears seem content to say you show us 8 or 9 man fronts and we'll go Power I on your ass and grind the clock.

There is a time to eat up clock but that time is not with 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. This is my complaint with their scheme, it's always get a lead going into half and then we'll just grind clock and let our D save us. You have to be more aggressive then that, at least in my opinion.

The only people on the entire planet that missed that facemask on Westbrook were the refs...

EDIT: and Teal... :P

EDIT2: Another one...Did I miss the memo?...Is facemask no longer a penalty?

EDIT 3: That interference call evened it out...I feel like Im watching an NHL reffed game now.

I agree WTF are thay looking at? That first facemask was unreal. The second facemask on the interception was bad. The PI was a make up.
