So, what's the story with goalie cameras online? I played a ranked BAP-on OTP game and was goalie, and initially the camera was up in the 'classic camera' i use as a fwd. Didn't help! I went to the visual options and the 'goalie mode camera' was grayed out so I couldn't change it, but I wasn't seeing from that camera. I was seeing from the regular BAP menu of cameras. I ended up using the BAP 'High' camera, but it's not quite the same as goalie cam, especially when I hit that back button to watch the action when the puck is in their zone.
Plus, there's no blue arrow, which when I tried goalie offline was I thought the biggest improvement on goalie play overall. I'm thinking part of that at least is that I can't seem to play from the proper goalie cam, but I don't know.
EDIT: PS I changed my guy to a grinder and it seems the few points I had were put back in the bank and I could redistribute them. That's nice to know you don't have to lose whatever progress you've made if you want to change your player type.

Granted, I expect you didn't give up 9, but at least a few were as a result of my frustration as I bounced around from option to option to no avail.
So, I'm wondering if it is a side-effect of changing my default BAP camera to overhead.
I know Sport played Goal online. If anyone can confirm that it is possible to use the offline BAP goalie camera with the proper view and Blue Arrow, please do so. I'd change my default camera back to the BAP camera to get the proper goalie perspective if that's the case.
I ran into the same problem GameSeven...I think it changes your default cam to the overhead one in goaltender mode. Maybe EA needs to change this some.GameSeven wrote:See?Zeppo wrote:So, what's the story with goalie cameras online?

Servers seem to have stabilized DRAMATICALLY last night, as we had an easy time assembling 12 players for instant 6 vs 6 games. No word on how the CLUB games performed, as there was no one in the Dressing Room any time I checked.
Let's commit to this thing DSP; I LOVE this game online. The games last night with a few from here and a few from OS were spectacularly played, with crisp passing, solid defense, and sound positioning; not only is it incredibly fun, but it's also extremely rewarding to pull off a goal when the team is playing together.
I especially enjoyed getting setup for 4 easy goals and an assist in a single game.
As for Goalie Mode, I had the same camera issue. Goalie is greyed out, so I use BAP LOW so that I get the same camera as is default for goalie mode offline. No blue arrow appears, however, so playing as goalie requires intense concentration and looking for the smallest signs of where the puck might be or be headed.
Look forward to more team play. I can barely imagine playing a sports game that doesn't include OTP or EASHL features ever again. I think it would work just a well for Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, and perhaps even Football (with careful control/implementation).
Best of all would be if EA is smart enough to let us keep our players into NHL 2010, 2011 etc.; so that players can develop and become 'famous' as the best in the game.

Club games worked great. We had a few instances of it freezing up on us, but we played club games all night last night, mostly with a full room. I think a minimum of 3 is needed for me to do club games, because with two guys I think you want to have at least one be an 'any.' In our games last night, i was refusing to play any two-man opponents, and it worked out because it didn't take many tries at all to get a five or six man team on the other side.Sport73 wrote:Servers seem to have stabilized DRAMATICALLY last night, as we had an easy time assembling 12 players for instant 6 vs 6 games. And after playing in front of forensicd in goal, I think I need some serious practice at goalie before stepping in there again. He's a natural!
Guys!!! I finally got the game today and I played one Play As Pro mode game and I am hooked!!! What a great game. I am not even going to try 2K9 as this game game exceeded my wildest expectations.
Seven......can you send me an invite? I would love to jump online with you guys and do some team games. Thanks!

So i went on last night after being away for two nights all excited to add to my 5G and 4A stat line and found NO ONE online!! In addition, the only stats to show up in our club were Zep's and barking. Any idea what happened? Our record did appear to be accurate..........10-16, yikes.
Anyway, who's gonna be around tonight?

Come and join us OTP. That is whenever EA decides to fix their servers.macsomjrr wrote:I bit the bullet and purchase a brand spanking new 360 Arcade (my old one is still in Texas getting fondled) and a copy of NHL 09 tonight. Started up a new career as a goalie and I'm loving it:) You guys weren't kidding with all the praise you've been heaping on this one.
