Your contributions were very much appreciated Terry:)TCrouch wrote:Yeah that thread isn't too shabby
After looking through some of those tutorials and explanations though I'm not sure how I'm ever going to compete successfully online. I just don't have the time to figure it all out:( It's just wild how badly I get blown away when I take my car online. Right after the start of the race the other cars just tear away from me.
I'm hoping there is a "non-tweak" mode where all the cars have the same set-ups but maybe that just isn't NASCAR enough:)
guys i figured it out!
Ok, when you register your presona with xboxlive, put in the email address associated with your XBOX LIVE acct. I had originally made a new profile when i got on EASW, but then when I tried to register w/ my XBOX Live email, I got a different screen where it automatically found my profile online.
drumroll please ...........
DSP members, feel free to download the car that brings back the greatest console in the history of mankind........THE SEGA DREAMCAST CAR!!!

That doesn't exactly make me think of the Dreamcast ... more like GTA IV ... but I'm not complaining.Inuyasha wrote:DSP members, feel free to download the car that brings back the greatest console in the history of mankind........THE SEGA DREAMCAST CAR!!!

Wow, I'm horrible at this game.
I did a bunch of 'race nows' last night with pro drivers upon first popping in the game, having only completed one 'driver challenge', and using Pro driving(instead of 'normal'), normal AI, no 'catch-up' (whatever that setting is) and veteran player skill, I got repeatedly smoked. Like, no higher than 41 3 times! The CPU cars seemed to obviously have more power than I did, as they would just shoot away from me after any kind of re-start like a yellow flag.
I didn't do any tweaking to the car setups at all, so I wonder if that was the problem. I certainly wasn't driving perfect lines or anything, but the CPU cars seemed to be much more effective than mine.
I'm not complaining, because I can certainly drop the difficulty or make some settings easier, but I was very surprised that those settings made it super difficult for me.
I raced mostly michigan, and I use the controller. (no wheel)

If you didn't make any tweaks to the setup at all, then that's the problem.
Bare minimum you need to go to the setup screen and scroll to the bottom of the basic tab...by default you are on the "Easy" setup, which pushes like a dump truck and has no power. Load up "Advanced" and you'll easily be able to compete with the AI on Medium in a Race Now situation.

Ah, that IS it then. Yes, you've accurately nailed how the driving felt to me. Thanks, Terry.TCrouch wrote:If you didn't make any tweaks to the setup at all, then that's the problem.

I've gotten the hang of the editor and the system now. I just made 10s a canucks car--I hope he likes it. I could take some other (simple) requests if people are uncomfortable with image editing software.
Pics of the Canucks car (10s, if you're reading this, you now don't need to upload the car yourself--you can get it from my locker):

You guys should have a thread just to show off your beauties.
I've barely begun to play the game, (just a few 'race nows' and some online) but I have some questions about how spent performance points work. Hopefully some of you can help me out.
1)Online, we know that they affect the performance of custom cars. Do we know for sure whether or not they affect the performance of the in game pro cars? I've seen some people claim they do, and others that they don't.
2)Offline, they do affect the performance of your car in career mode. Does anyone know if the game 'expects' you to be using them to power up your ride as you progress through the various levels of the career? In other words, are you going to need to 'level up' to compete with the top racers in career mode? I'd really like to know this before I spend the points and find out that I made it too easy on myself...(IE, most Tiger Woods games after 'powering up' your golfer...)
Thanks!

1) I don't think anybody knows for sure yet. I was turning the same laps on day one as I am now, which makes me unsure of anything that is being thrown about. However, the "Engine" glitch is definitely true, so something is going on there. I can run a test later with me in a custom car online and then restart it using Hamlin's car, and see how that works out. If the lap times are identical at that point, then I guess they're universal.
2) Your best bet is to "upgrade as you need to". My car for superspeedways is 100 rated, and I absolutely destroy the field at Daytona in the opening race of the season. It is probably like the Tiger deal, but I haven't tried to delete everything and run without it yet. I'm going to do it after I finish the review and see what the competition with the AI looks like at that point. Worst case, try and practice. If they're dusting you, upgrade a bit. Once you can compete with their practice lap times, you'll be fine in a race.

I went to EA's website and downloaded the Paint.net program along with the file. I opened the file and i've just been going thru the basics. I have some questions.
1) How do you put numbers on the car?
2) How do you put images on the car?
3) Do you import them with a scanner?
Kinda confused on how this all works.
