HOCKEY NIGHT in DSP 07-08

Wade Redden has equalled his fighting majors in one game versus the past 3 years. 2!
I agree tho, if he makes this a habit, he needs to learn to drop the helmet.
Good game tho. Can't wait to be at Scotiabank tomorrow to see the banner raised Maybe Wade will get in another fight or two....

The banner? Come on: The only banner that matters is the Stanley Cup Champions banner.Gangrel wrote:Wade Redden has equalled his fighting majors in one game versus the past 3 years. 2!

As a bonus, I found out that Rogers is also having a free preview of Centre Ice! So I am PVRing the Oil game tomorrow too. I can watch it when I get home from the Sens game, as I have Friday off.... (sometimes being a government work a'int so bad.

Just teasing, Gang.
Agree with you on Redden and the shield. Anyone who drops the gloves with a shield should toss the helmet immediately, especially if his foe isn't wearing one.

I know buddy. I'm just excited because it's opening night, and me and my buds will be there, along with 12 other games in our pack. I have to say, the past few years, I've gotten more into hockey then I ever have.... no doubt helped by the fact that I'm now finally PLAYING ice hockey myself... starting at the tender age of 29 3 years ago.
Trust me, the only Crosby I'll be confused for is his mother, and even then she probably skates better then me.
And as must as Redden annoyed me last year in the Finals, he was full of fire tonight. And what I know of him, he didn't leave the visor on on purpose.... I'm pretty sure it was because he a'int used to the fisticuffs and the code.....
I'm sure Mcgratton will let him know on the flight home tonight.
Now, I just saw a depressing sight on Centre Ice.... Smytty in his Avs jersey. Although there was an interesting theory brought up on TSN tonight.... that being WITH Smytty the Oil would only ever just sneak int he playoffs, but by getting rid of him they got the draft picks and players and cap space that might actually make them better in the long run......
Nillson apparently looked might good in the pre-season.

Very solid game by the sophomore P.Stastny. Along with A. Kopitar they were the rookie class act of the West last season. Of course not many in the East noticed him last year, but watch this kid. Peter Budaj kept the Avs in the third period in an entertaining game and Burnaby Joe Sakic keeps winning those key faceoffs.
Watched the highlights of the DET-ANA and if T. Bertuzzi can stay healthy he should have a very good year. Fifteen pounds lighter, he looked very good in the Geztlaf line.
Some great games tonight guys, all won by one goal, we're all in for a great season...

Nice win last night for the Oil, as my boy Stollie got the winner in the shootout.
Rolie stood on his head when he needed to, as I still worry about Edmonton's defense. The pairing of Matt Greene and Sheldon Souray doesn't give me much confidence defensively, and Pitkanen looked hesitant and nervous last night.
Stollie was flying, more physical than in the past. Hemsky could have a monster season and looks to be a borderline dominant offensive player.
The kids played pretty damn well. Cogliano is getting time on the PP, so MacT must really like him. Plus he had a nice play on the first goal and could have scored one or two himself.
The young guy who really surprised me was Nilsson. Excellent vision, crafty with the puck. He put the puck on Torres' stick two or three times when Raffi didn't expect it, so if Raffi looks for the puck more often, he could get a handful of goals.
Yeah, I miss Fernie out there, but Kyle Brodziak did a pretty good poor man's Pisani imitation out there, doing a lot of little, overlooked things right on both sides of the ice.
Take care,
PK

Ya, I liked what I saw of the Oil too. I started watching it on PVR after coming home from the Sens game last night (man, Leaf fans can be uber annoying) but I fell asleep on the couch midway through the second.
Nillson DID look pretty good with some of those passes. This could be a much better year for the OIl then the experts are predicting.....

Yes. The RDS French feed of the Habs' game Wednesday looked like a broadcast from behind the Iron Curtain from about 1968. But the Leafs-Sens' game on TSN the same night looked just fine.Sudz wrote:does the hockey package look like total s*** for anyone else? on some channels I can't even see the score properly it is so fuzzy.
Last night's Oilers-Sharks' game also looked fine.

Banging Hilary Duff must be doing Mike Comrie a world of good. He scored two goals and added two assists in the Isles' 6-4 victory over Buffalo.
I can't stand that little twerp. Have despised him ever since he bolted from his hometown of Edmonton in a contract flap.

The Oilers had no problem with the Sharks Thursday night ...10spro wrote:And for the second straight year, the Sharks spoiled the 'Nucks' opener with a 3-1 win. Hell yeah! I'm pumped after the Hawks came back from a 3-1 deficit after 2 periods to win in the shootout against the Wings in the home opener. Next year I should be able to watch it on tv rather than listen to the radio broadcast.
I thought they looked rather good defensively against the Wild and even offensively despite the shutout. I don't know how they looked tonight but they sure sounded good. Patrick Kane gets the game winner in the shootout in front of a packed house.

What a wild game in Cowtown. Canucks win in OT with just five seconds left after killing a PP because of too many men on the ice. This team just hasn't learn that you can't take dumb penalties, it just kills whatever momentum the top players have on the ice and of course very taxing on Louie. After blowing a two goal lead in the third, thay come up with the win, but still give a valuable point to an adversary in this very tough NW division. Both goalies played huge.
