Has anyone actually played TF before? I'm just curious as to why people think TF2 is gonna be so great and better than Halo 3 or COD4.
Probably 150 hours LOL TF was the reason that I got rid of dial-up
LOL. Fair enough.
I did watch some youtube videos of TF2 and yeah, it is completely different from classes in COD. I tried TF1 way back in 2000 and hated it, but the Orange Box is such a good deal I'll probably give it another shot.
Just played a few rounds, and 75% of the people in the game went from level 16 to 17 after the first round. The perk level 17 unlocks is 'matyrdom' - aka 'the anti-teabag' - which drops a live grenade every time you die. I picked up some grenade kills pretty quickly, though the perk doesn't net you as many kills as you might expect. It was funny though because nearly everyone turned it on to try it out in my game and there were explosions everywhere.
+Multiplayer quality, quantity, and depth that rivals Halo's.
- A few frustratingly tough areas on the higher difficulty levels.
The last paragraph:
Simply put, COD 4 does everything right and nearly nothing wrong. But where it elevates itself above even the best 360 shooters is how all of the good stuff is ludicrously good. The campaign never lets up, while multiplayer is a triple-A affair in itself. Infinity Ward's enthusiasm for being freed of World War II shines through every moment of gameplay, and this swing for the fences has belted COD 4 way out of the park.
Out of the box, COD 4 has a stunning 13 matchmaking playlists on XBL, 16 MP maps out of the box, 55 ranks, a hardcore 'one shot, one kill' mode, tweaking of the 'last stand' perk making it more reasonable and fair, great graphics, 60fps gameplay, and I'm off the charts for this one!

That's what struck me about COD4 Beta, and for that matter COD1 on PC by Infiniti Ward and Halo 3. It's not that something new hits you in the face, it's just that every little detail is done so well.
Day one for me as well. I had a blast with the beta and can't wait to jump back in next week. Unlike Teal I'll still be playing Halo a couple nights a week but this will be my main shooter starting next week.

I'm shooter monogamous come next week! Well, probably not, but Halo will get awfully lonely, as will most of my other games...
Just getting into private rooms will make the multiplayer worth it (the randoms killed the beta, IMO). That "one shot, one kill" mode sounds awesome as I prefer the more realistic slant of GRAW and other similar shooters as opposed to Halo.
I am not so sure about the 1 shot 1 kill mode. If its exactly like it sounds then that is a little overboard IMO. I heard there was a hardcore mode (haven't read about it unless it turned out to be that 1 shot crap) where there is no perks or radar and its not respawn. Now thats my game type, SOCOM style baby!

From my understanding, the hardcore mode is precisely what you've described in the second part of this. It's what I'm hyped about the most, actually. No perks, no radar, no respawn...awww, yeah...
