DSP MLB 2k7 League ANYONE UP FOR IT?

Just had an outstanding game with Gurantsu, scoreless going into the 9th until his Phillies broke it open with 5 runs and I only managed one in the bottom of the ninth. What a great game that was, can't wait to play some more in this league. I will be on Friday night looking to play a couple more games.
A very good game! We were both working hard trying to scratch across a run. We had hits here and there, but nothing stuck until the 9th, when I started to get a few guys aboard and got a couple runs. Rowans homer sealed the deal for the Fightin' Phils.vader29 wrote:Just had an outstanding game with Gurantsu, scoreless going into the 9th until his Phillies broke it open with 5 runs and I only managed one in the bottom of the ninth. My hits at the end were a combination of 2 things: first, I think Zack Duke was getting a little tired. Second, I finally figured out where Vader kept pitching me, so I planted the batters eye out there and if it came up then I laid off the pitch. I like the batters eye in that respect, as it helps simulate how a real hitter would be looking for a certain pitch. It'll make sure pitchers use different parts of the plate (unless I keep swinging at the same low outside ball for 8 straight innings again...
I was very impressed with how the game played online. No lag at all, and only once did a little window pop up about sychronizing something, and that was only for a split second. Lots of fun, and the sliders (which are for the most part the ones I use offline) worked well I think. You really have to play fundamental baseball and bust your hump to get runs. Makes for lots of "pucker" moments!
A quick question; can the home team select the game time and weather and such? We had a rainy game that must have started at 6AM, because the sun came up towards the end (unless the clouds just cleared away? ) Just wondering.

Glad to hear your game went well Gurantsu and Vader! Any suggestions on slider adjustments? Pitch speed OK? Was it too hard to hit or just right? In looking at the game recap on the league page, everything looks great.....strikeouts seems about right, hits about right. Whta's weird is that the "box score" doesn't show anything, but the "play by play" shows everything that happened.
If everything is acceptable, we might as well leave the league as is and play on! We can tweak here and there if needed as we go.

I thought the pitch speed was fine. It's not too fast so you still have time to decide if you want to swing, but fast enough that you still strike out if you guess wrong. Playing a human is much tougher than the AI. Vader is a sneaky dude!
It was tough to get guys on base, there were a lot of sacrifice bunts in our game to try to move runners along. I like that kind of play so I'm good with it, but some of you more offensive minded guys may want to tweak a few things. I thought it played very realistically, with the possible exception of strike-outs, but most guys are free swingers in viddeo game baseball so that may be unavoidable. Again, this was only one game for the whole league, so I say we let everyone play some games this weekend, and decide on Monday if any changes will be needed. That way we will all have played a couple different teams to get a better idea of how they stand.

Yeah it's kinda crappy that video game baseball always seems to end up that way. Maybe the more we play and play this one we'll start seeing some more walks (we should award a trophy to the guy who can pull the most walks). I was hoping that the fact that this game is played in a higher resolution with better graphics would help us to see the ball a bit better and make the correct call about strikes and balls a little early. The swing stick seems to hurt that a little as well because I'm finding when I pull back on the stick I'm more likely to swing.Gurantsu wrote:I thought it played very realistically, with the possible exception of strike-outs, but most guys are free swingers in viddeo game baseball so that may be unavoidable. Glad to hear your game was fun. I can't wait to play some of mine next week but it'll have to wait til then. VEGAS HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That play-by-play is a bit flukey. It's missings some things, and seems to be adding some others, strange. (Paulino hit a lineout AND flies out to the shortstop? ) You can get the gist of what happened though, it seems to have the runners left on base numbers right so you can see we did have some decent hits.
Too bad that the box score isn't coming up, that would give a clearer picture of what went on in the game. When I first logged in last night, it took a few minutes before the league screen loaded (I even rebooted my Xbox once thinking it was on my end) so maybe they had some server problems. Hopefully they figure it out, we gotta have stats! I know it did work because there was a boxscore from the game Darkbandit and I played.

Don't forget you guys both probably used your #1 starters. Once we play games with or #3 and 4 pitchers, I'm sure we'll see much more offense.

Yeah after you got that first run I was hoping Duke could get out of the inning without any more damage because I knew the heart of my order was due up in the bottom half but that homerun did me in.Gurantsu wrote:My hits at the end were a combination of 2 things: first, I think Zack Duke was getting a little tired. I saw at the start of the game it said it was rainy and I couldn't do anything to change it.
I was going to try a league game or two last night but I was beat and decided to hit the hay and try to play a couple Saturday night. Good thing I did too as my son thought 5AM was a swell time to wake up this morning...
I just checked out the web site, and it looks like there were some very good games. Nice walk-off home run for the Bucs to take the win in extra innings! It's also nice to see all the box scores fixed.
So how are the sliders holding up? From the looks of it I'd say pretty well, the games seem to be close and there hasn't been any home run fests.

we were in extra innings only 7 inning games...no swing stick for you...I had a shoddy connection the reason for alot of misses by me.macsomjrr wrote:Great game zlax. My xbox live name is "The Zlax45"
Do we have to play with the swing stick? Cameron is getting no more fast balls from me either:)Zlax45 wrote:we were in extra innings only 7 inning games...no swing stick for you...I had a shoddy connection the reason for alot of misses by me.macsomjrr wrote:Great game zlax. I played Darkbandit20 after Zlax and the connection there was a bit slow. Had a tough time getting my pitches set mostly because my connection with Zlax was better (for me) so I'd gotten used to that timing.

Jack and I had a great game as well. I took a 3-1 lead into the last inning where my closer almost blew the game for me. Walked a guy, hit a guy, even a wild pitch that scored a runner. Luckily I was able to get him out of there and strike out the last Atlanta batter for the win. A very tense game!
The new pitcher settings work well, they wear out about right for the shortened 7 inning games. And those relievers wear out fast, you really need to keep an eye on them.
Looks like all of the games are playing out well with the current sliders, so thats cool.

Yes, that was a great game Gurantsu! I hate the way the game
closes the chat function as soon as the game ends. I guess a way around
that is to open up a private chat session in XBL before you start your game. Can't wait for a rematch!
