Fair enough. It's true, I'm very pleased with how FIFA is developing on the 360- the jumps from RTWC to WC to 07 have been pretty striking, and at this point FIFA is a game with a lot going for it. And I'm loathe to pay Konami for what sounds like a pretty lazy effort. That said, WE is the game of choice whenever my friends are around, so it's pretty much a given that I'll grab it at some point.Zeppo wrote:I'm not dissing it. Where was I dissing it? I didn't say 'FIFA is crap' or anything like that at all. All I meant was if one is happy with FIFA07, then it's very likely one would feel pissed off enough about the lack of features in WE07 to have a hard time enjoying the game.
I said you might not want to bother with WE07 if you are happy with FIFA07. If that's read as dissing FIFA07, well, that's how you read it. I guess I shouldn't have put in the quotes.
Personally, I never felt the urge to try FIFA because, having been burned so many times by the 'it's all new, it's really good this time, everything broken has been fixed this time' hype in the past, I was wary, and (shoe on the other foot here. . . ) the back-compat WE was good enough for me, so I didn't want to bother messing around with FIFA. By the same token, if FIFA is good enough for you, you probably shouldn't bother trying WE07, because it's easy to get pissed off at all the bad stuff and feel like you wasted $50, and that will probably get in the way of your enjoyment of the gameplay.

I think the frame rate is perfect. There is some bizarre slowdown at certain points, but it doesn't really impact the gameplay. The game seems to skip whenever the ball crosses the goal line and at the end of game/half. It also slows down oddly before set pieces, although it's the animations prior to the kick, not the kick or mechanics that gets messed up.FifaInspected wrote:Not a bad idea.nyisles16 wrote:well after seeing the reactions, is this game worth a purchase?
What gets me is that some people on the web are saying it's got a bad framerate, while others say it's silky smooth.

I noticed a small frame rate drop (on the PS2) when a header hit the post with a lot of players in the box. I don't think I ever noticed any slowdown on the Xbox versions of WE8I and WE9.
I also don't like the grainy filter that seems to appear on all automatic replays. It makes the graphics look pretty pixelated, but thankfully it isn't there on the replays you can control.

Maybe. But the slowdown is not during the actual gameplay, but post-goal and during what are basically cut-scenes prior to a re-start. When the ball is in play, the framerate is fine.dbdynsty25 wrote:Wow...you sure have a liberal definition of "perfect" Rob.

I don't know guys...PES6 on the PC with the Evolution Superpatch 2.0 is pretty freakin' ridiculous.
132 stadiums
281 different shoes
877 balls
All of the kits (along with 3rds for some teams), roster transfers up to Feb. 1...holy crap. If you've got the rig to run it, it's definitely impressive. I still don't think the PC version is as smooth or playable as the two console versions, but it's just impressive from a graphical and modification standpoint.

Some impressions after going 0-4 online last night -
One thing that bugs me is that they show you who is challenging you if you create a match, but there doesn't seem to be a way to decline the challenge. When I saw a guy who was 5-0 and averaging 3 goals/game, I wasn't too excited. Seems like the only way to decline is to head back to the main dashboard.
One game dissolved into a total lag fest late in the 2nd half through extra time.
My initial excitement that every game wouldn't have one of the top teams, after playing as Everton vs. a mid-level Italian squad in my first game, was quickly gone after playing against Brazil or Barca the rest of the night.
And finally, my defense is even worse than I thought and my offense sucks, too.

I would have said both the game play and the frame rate earlier yesterday but after putting in 4 games late last night I did notice some slowdown. It was mostly during cutscenes but it also happened near the goal when there were a lot of players on the screen.Feanor wrote:Do you mean the frame rate, because I never saw a second of slowdown in either WE8I or WE9 on the Xbox.XXXIV wrote:The play is smoother than the Xbox version of WE was.
The brief slow down did not detract from the game.
