DIRT: Colin McRae Off-Road 360 info

This game is an absolute blast with the steering wheel. I am torn between using the cockpit view and the hood cam view, I do better with the hood cam but I like the view from the cockpit better looking out the windshield and the full version will most likely be even more fun with some rain and mud thrown into your driving view.
Jack, I'm using the Microsoft 360 wheel. I have it mounted to a tablemate and it fits perfectly for me in my gaming chair. It is a little bit harder to control the cars as compared to using the controller but that will just take some getting used to and I do expect to get better with it the more I use it. Where as with the controller I didn't like using the cockpit or hood cam views in racing games, it's just the opposite now with the wheel as that's the only views I'll be using from now on.
I think I might need to start messing with the MS 360 wheel settings myself. After playing the game quite terribly with the wheel, I tried with the normal controller and was drastically better. So much so that something doesn't seem right with the wheel setup, rather than simply being a 'different' control scheme.
I've seen at the OS Racing forum some wheel settings. I don't have the wheel so I don't know if they are any good but might be worth a try.Naples39 wrote:I think I might need to start messing with the MS 360 wheel settings myself. Yes that is the exact one I ordered from walmart.com, I selected the free shipping from site to store. Ordered it on a Saturday and it was ready for pickup that following Wednesday.Badgun wrote: vader,

...I'm the only person here who finds the demo leaves him a bit cold, aren't I? As with CMR2005, there's something about the handling and control of the cars that has me somehow a bit disconnected from it, a feeling of being able to go quickly but almost as if the cars are floating and not properly connected to the ground. I've not seen anyone else here complain of it so I'm probably going mad.
Feels sturdy enough for me, and it's alot better than having the wheel resting on your lap. Took a quick picture of how it looks clamped to the table:Zeppo wrote:I find it hard to believe that thing is sturdy enough to handle the wheel. Is it really?

Also tonight I turned the Force, Friction, and Effects Strength all the way up and the control felt a lot better than the default settings.
I don't know man. I use the 2nd "in car" cam that you can also see out the side window (just amazing I might add) and the control feels fine to me.GB_Simo wrote:...I'm the only person here who finds the demo leaves him a bit cold, aren't I? Where I think I'm in the minority on this demo is with the Buggies. Don't care for them one bit and I probably won't race them much. I think the pure rally portion of the demo is fantastic though and hope that true rallying is the major focus of the game.

So you trust IGN over Gamestop and EB Games? They still show the 19th. I hope you're right if you do.Zlax45 wrote:Thought people would have went nuts over the release date getting moved up a week.dbdynsty25 wrote:What, 5 pages about a game that hasn't even come out yet isn't enough interest for you?Zlax45 wrote:Any interest in the game?

My xbox live name is "The Zlax45"
It isn't a nosedive in FR...just a hiccup every now and then. Wish they'd stop with the axis turning stuff, but you only really notice it in replays. Looking forward to it.tjung0831 wrote:Not so sure about that...frame rate issues are a killer in my book.
REALLY disappointed in the lack of quality and quantity of online modes, but II've gotta have a McRae game, and the offline sure looks fun...
