Tiger Woods 2007 (360/PC/PS2/PS3/PSP/XBox)

I'm too lazy to look back and see if anyone has commented on the PSP version, but I picked it up today and I'm enjoying it. It's pretty much same-old, same-old, but the thing that I like so far is that it appears to be a bit more difficult than last year and more like the first version. If you enjoyed the first PSP version, but hated the load times this may be worth a look. Load times are 8-10 seconds between holes.
I'll be playing the PSP version also. Whats included? Will there be a Tour this time for the PSP version?Leebo33 wrote:I'm too lazy to look back and see if anyone has commented on the PSP version, but I picked it up today and I'm enjoying it. There's a tour, but I can't really say how deep it is yet. So far I've played some challenges (wind, rain, par 5), a minigame that was pretty cool, a match against a pro, and a pro-am at Pebble Beach.ddtrane wrote:I'll be playing the PSP version also. There is already content for the 360 version on the Marketplace.
Unlock Golfer:-200 points
Pro Shop – 300 points
Maxed out Player – 200 points
Sunday Tiger– 240 points
Unlock Courses – 200 points
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears they are essentially selling cheat codes. I have no idea what the actual content is, but if it allows someone to buy what I have to work for, then it's pretty damn lame.

Depending on the game and the amount of game time I expect to have, I don't mind the idea of unlocking all courses via a Marketplace purchase.
There are some games that have really pissed me off with the amount of locked content at the start and only have one way to unlock everything (the Colin McRae games might be the ones that do this) and it sours the whole experience for me.
It would be nice if something like "Maxed Out Player" could only be used offline if you purchased it vs. earning it and being able to use it online. This essentially means that most randoms online will have a maxed out player right off the bat, which blows.

I picked up the PS2 version this weekend. First thing I did was go the "Difficulty" menu and select "Expert", then went to the PGA Season Tour mode with my character (with hardly any attributes) and couldn't break 90 after three rounds. It definitely can be as difficult as you want.
I'm a little disappointed because despite my struggles with putting and keeping the ball in the fairway I still made an inordinate amount of chip-ins, probably four or five in those three rounds. Plus I had an approach shot from about 80 yards go in. This was on "Expert" difficulty with almost no attributes, which isn't a good sign.
Then I tried a match on the World Tour mode to build up my guy's attributes and won the first match easily, but I'm not sure how much time I'll want to spend beating those same old fictional characters all over again.
No sign of Firestone yet, not even a greyed-out image of it with a padlock over it anywhere. Although while I was at the store I was looking through the TW07 guide and it was in there.

Since Firestone is not listed on EA's site for the PS2/XBox, unless it is specifically listed on the box, I believe that Firestone is a 360-only course for 2007....lexbur wrote: No sign of Firestone yet, not even a greyed-out image of it with a padlock over it anywhere. That's really disappointing. I was looking forward to Firestone, I go down there every August to watch them play.DivotMaker wrote:Since Firestone is not listed on EA's site for the PS2/XBox, unless it is specifically listed on the box, I believe that Firestone is a 360-only course for 2007....
I'm not positive but I thought the box said 21 courses, and since I'm only seeing 19 so far I was hoping it was a hidden bonus course or something. I guess I should have done a little more research.

I think it is lame that they are selling them, but I don't agree with you in any other way. Cheat codes have always existed, people could go to sites to find them etc. If someone wants to use one of these to get more enjoyment out of the game then so be it.Badgun wrote: Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears they are essentially selling cheat codes. Now if they can use a maxed out golfer in an online tournament and there are no options for limiting that, then again it is lame on EA's part for not giving you the customization options needed.

You guys with the PSP version, how is the putting handled this time around? I hated the putting system in '06 as I could never get anything other than 0% or 100% on the meter with the analog nub. I also hated the meter altogether - is there still an option to turn it off?
Does season mode mirror IRL events or is it just a collection of random tournaments and mini games as the reviews seem to indicate?

Just got the 360 version and man is it tough when using TOUR difficulty. It is tough to pull off good shots, but the game makes you feel pretty good when you do. Have not had a single shot go in the cup that felt pre-determined and I am working my ass off for PAR's so far at this stage which is 4 hours into the game. So far, the challenge of the game has met and surpassed what I have been looking for. However, we will see how that holds once I start building my Golfer and he becomes more capable....
Blub, the putting system is the same. I never use the meter though so I can't tell what percentages I am hitting. You usually should putt at 100% but a few times a round you need a little finesse or you won't make it. You can also use the power boost during putting. The putting system isn't ideal, but it gets the job done.Blublub wrote:You guys with the PSP version, how is the putting handled this time around? There are only 12 courses in the game so it can't possibly mirror IRL events. There are a lot of tourneys, challenges, and a couple minigames.
I'm enjoying the game a lot more than last year. I thought the game was back to too easy last year. The "nub" seems a little more loose this year, which causes negative feedback in reviews but I like it. I don't increase any stats except for power and putting though. The fairways also seem a lot more narrow this year.

Haha...tripled my first hole too. It doesn't help that you can't change the joystick that you hit with...as far as I can tell anyway.
I partially tore a ligament in my left thumb the other night playing basketball...so it's REALLY hard to play video games. Up and down isn't as bad as left and right, so Tiger is about the only game I can play and it still hurts like a mother.
