Al Leiter on Fox

Arguably the WORST guest announcer EVER. Every three or four minutes he says a word or two:

"He took that one right down the middle"

"Foul ball"

"Not Manny, Not Sosa"

Come on Al...say a few words for the fans...damn...he´s almost worse than Lisa Guerrero...god help us.

I´m a big Al Leiter fan but I have to agree. He has been terrible.

I don´t know, I guess I´ll take that over most of the commentary on Fox.

I thougt it was insghtful. Maybe not the best but not the worst I´ve seen.

Sure beats guys that I´m growing to find to be a real pain in the ass. Al Michaels makes monday night football into a obsure fact night. He always quoting some obsure fact from a previous monday night game, like this is baseball and matchup stats matter in football.

Phils Simms talks a lot. I like Gumbel but Simms just runs his mouth.

Hey atleast it isn´t Magic Johnson or Bill Walton.

Funny thing is, Leiter clearly said BEFORE Sosa´s HR, "He better not throw him that backdoor slider............"
WHAMMMMM!

At first I thought Leiter was terrible too. However, as the broadcast wore on he became more comfortable and began saying more insightful things. And he did kind of call the Sosa shot.

I thought Lyons did a good job of drawing him out. Al Leiter knows a thing or two about the game and I would much rather listen to him over McCarver or Morgan. The only thing that makes Morgan livable is Jon Miller, IMO. To be sure, Morgan does occasionally say something insightful, but when he says things like pitcher´s wins are more important than ERA, it really blows his credibility in my book.

I found Leiter to be ok, but a little to reserved.

What I could NOT stand was Lyons jabbering away 100x more than usual. Whether this was an attempt to draw Leiter out of his shell or just Lyons being particularly ebullient, it was way, way too much.

I can barely stand him in normal mode. Crystal Meth-speed Psycho had me quicly reaching for the mute button and flippin on the WGN radio broadcast.
