Interesting quote about ESPN College Hoops from Hil at IGN

Post by ScoopBrady »

I was just browsing the IGN forums and stumbled upon this quote from Hil in a Mortal Kombat:DD thread.

"And as for not responding just 'cause some folks are bashing on me, I don't really see the point in spiting anyone. They paid their cash to come on the boards and applaud, whine, and b*tch and I get paid to accept all of it. Plus, I just played the best of the hoops games today, but I can't write about that until next Friday. Suffice to say, if you think NBA 2K5 was worth a 9, then you'll think this one (perhaps by the same company...hmmm) a 10.5. Seriously. "

Sounds like ESPN College Hoops is the sh!t according to Hil.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

According to the guys we sent to E3 over at OS, NCAA college hoops was getting more raves and attention with a 30% build than the 50% build of NBA 2K5. Take it for what its worth, but that gets my hopes up.

I really enjoyed CH last year. Maybe I should go for Live for my pro game, and CH for college. Then again, I'm still trying to decide on my pro game!

Well I've never though "Hil" was a very good sports reviewer as he tends to favor flash over substance. I thought his ESPN Basketball review was bad mainly in the sense that he held the game to a standard that IGN doesn't seem to do for most titles including Live. Go back and read his NCAA 2005 review as a perfect example. His deep gaze seemed to disappear on that one. Hopefully the college game is a great title ,however. There hasn't been a truly great one since Coack K.

I would kill for a good college hoops title. It has been the worst blight in the history of sports gaming. The College Hoops series had too many bugs and problems, and March Madness IMO has never played like college basketball, but like Live with numbers instead of player names.

Seeing as how the controls are considerably different, that would be a mistake. It's so damn hard to go from game to game. Trust me Steve...it sucks doing it.

I absolutey cannot wait for CH this year. Maybe it's the fact that Kansas will be unbelieveably deep and ranked in the top 5, or maybe I'm just a huge college basketball fan. Regardless, I've gotta believe the nagging issues people had with the game last year will be fixed for the most part. I didn't devote enough time to it online last year, but the games I did play were electric. The atmosphere blew away the NBA games by a wide wide margin. I will be first in line waiting for this game. How some of you get all "excited" about the Winning Eleven series, I get more so with CH.

Scott - I know what you're saying buddy. It is so hard to go back and forth. I just want to make sure I make the "right" decison for the pro game (obviously what is good for me may not be good for others).

Who said the raves at E3 where for NCAA CHoops? Are youtalking about ESPN CHoops 2K5 or NCAA March Maddness?

I skipped NBA 2K5 this year even though it was getting a lot of good raves because my heart belongs to CHoops and, even though we have heard or seen nothing, I want to wait. If ESPN CHoops is what these people are talking about I am all the more excited.

Hopefully I will actually see some folks playing it online this season.

I did, it was for the Sega game. Both of Sega's college bball games were in the same area.
