Thompson drives can eat the peanuts from my shizzle.
My second Xbox, a refurbished unit that's also a Thompson, has crapped out on me after a mere four months. Tech support says I'm still under warranty, miraculously, which I'm sure is bullcrap but they are probably instructed to say that when a customer utters the magic word, "Thompson". So, back to the factory, with a note attached imploring them to send it back with a Pioneer or a Samsung. The worst part is, it froze as I was attempting to save my ESPN Baseball season, which then corrupted the file. I was in August in my franchise, having played 80% of the games.

Trust me, they won't put another Thomson drive in it. They are well aware of the problem. You will more than likely get a Samsung drive which will play anything you put in it...cds, cd-r, dvd, dvd-r.Slumberland wrote:My second Xbox, a refurbished unit that's also a Thompson, has crapped out on me after a mere four months. You can install the games on a bigger HD and play tem directly from it and only use the original disk if you wanna play on XBL.
So naturally, you'll never have that problem again.

I have a Thompson drive and bought my XBox near when MS released it, and I haven't had a single problem.Slumberland wrote:My second Xbox, a refurbished unit that's also a Thompson, has crapped out on me after a mere four months. It's hit and miss-- like buying a car.
Buying a refurbished unit is not a good idea, I don't think. It increases your chances of getting a lemon.
