looks very cool platformer. I will check itout.
I tried this silk platform game that just came out on gamepass. it's pretty good but sort of hard. but this shinboi one looks 100 percent cooler.
Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
You bet! It's a fun side scroller, Hades is great too if you've never played it, I believe both are on GP standard and ultimate (I only have core).
Borderlands is one of my favorite series and BL 4 is excellent!

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
What kind of game do you enjoy? RPG's, Shooters, Extraction Shooters, Turn Based, Strategy etc?
I can recommend a lot of games but many of them will be on the PC only.
My current games in the rotation.
Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon its like Skyrim / Oblivion Type Game
Red River Incursion and extraction shooter.
Cyber Knights Flashpoint which is kind of like X-com turn based but in a Cyberpunk setting
Scramble Battle of Britain a WEGO air combat game in WW2
Balatro which is basically digital crack if you like Poker
Also Playing Baldur's Gate 3 on my 6th play through which in my opinion is the best game ever made.

Hades 2 has me completely sucked in. If you haven't played the first one, definitely play that one first.
Pinball FX will always be my first love. Plays beautifully on the PC as well as the consoles.
Microsoft's Game Pass newly announced pricing today can f**k right off!

I've been playing Doom: The Dark Ages, and absolutely loving it. It is effing visceral and fun. My favorite way to wind down.

i seriously thinking during xmas time to sell my xbox and just buy a PC with that money. I'll keep PS5 as my main console. My fav type of game is strategy mixed with history. but those games are only on PC and really not on consoles.Danimal wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 7:17 pm What kind of game do you enjoy? Yeah, I can give you tons of PC game recommendations. I do play my XSX quite a bit though and my daughters bought me an Elite 2 controller for my birthday, which goodness.. what a controller this thing is!

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
I mean I picked up 8 games on the Steam sale so far, cost? $52.
They were all Indie either, Sniper Elte 5, Control, War Hammer Battlesector etc.
If NCAA ever comes to the PC I'll likely never play a console again.

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
yeah it seems like PC is more bang for your buck on software even if the initial hardware cost is more than console.
but it's not going to matter next gen. with sony being the only hardware console maker on the market, they'll probably sell PS6 around $1000

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
I gave up on PC gaming again. Spent the last few years playing nearly 50/50 PC and console. But I tired of it. When PC issues started popping up last year I bought a Mac Mini and have never been happier. Games look better on my TV, too. And I can still do cloud streaming on the Mac.

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
can you tell me more about mac gaming? I've always been a mac person and never owned a pc for gaming. are you limited in # of games for mac or is it the same # as pc? And do the big sports and other titles come out for mac as well?Aristo wrote: Fri Oct 03, 2025 5:59 pm I gave up on PC gaming again. Spent the last few years playing nearly 50/50 PC and console. Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
Mac gaming sucks. It's not a replacement. But once my PC was annoying enough, I didn't want to game on it anyway. Since I prefer console gaming, it's not a bad trade-off, because I absolutely love using my Mac over the PC for every single other thing I do.
If you want an idea, just go to the Mac page on Steam. I have Civ6 and Civ7, a bunch of the recent OOTPs, a couple of Witcher games, a Deus Ex game, and a bunch of indie/card games. Still can't find a solitaire game I like nearly as much as Microsoft Solitaire. I nearly bought Cyberpunk on Mac because it was so much cheaper than Steam. But then I found it on Xbox for even less.
Oh, and Rocksmith is on Mac, and that was huge for me. I have it on Xbox, too, but I do prefer playing guitar and bass in my office rather than going into the front room with my stuff.

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
I just started playing the Hogwarts game. I guess I had it on PS5 as it came with the console but I neer bothered playing it. Started on XBX.
I dont know anything about harry potter, never read the books or saw the movies.
but what an incredible game. it's got everything. graphics are truly next gen on XBX. I'm sort of stuck now in this learning phase of the game which seems to be going on forever. Getting a bit stale but hopefully the game picks up. Sometimes it's like seeing a movie but I don't mind it because of how well the game is made.
I'll keep playing this bit by bit.
Also, played this on xcloud for some time today and looked amazing and played amazing on xcloud. i dont know if they enhanced upcloud since they got rid of the beta.

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
Obviously this statement is dependent on the PC and Graphics card someone owns. I can guarantee you that none of my console games look or play better (I know you didn't say this last part) than my $5,000 PC. I also recognize not everyone is willing to spend this kind of money on a computer.
It's also dependent on the type of game you play, there are dozens upon dozens of great games I would have never played if I only had a console but my main genres are RPG's, Strategy and open world games.
I often wonder why I still have a console but that's the beauty of choices. Play where you want and what you want.

for pc gaming, is a monitor a must? I don't like playing on a desk because it feels like work.Danimal wrote: Sat Oct 04, 2025 10:15 pmObviously this statement is dependent on the PC and Graphics card someone owns. Im sure you can hook up the pc to a HDTV and sit on the couch to mimic console but does it hurt graphics if you're playing on a regular HDTV?

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
Lotas of TV's have a "PC connection" which I believe a Displayport connection, most graphics cards have HDMI option as well. So yes you can hook it up to your tv as you said.Lancer wrote: Sat Oct 04, 2025 10:44 pmfor pc gaming, is a monitor a must? I really can't answer if it looks worse or not as I've never hooked it up to my TV. I know for my monitor the display port connection is better than the HDMI and then of course there is the resolution and refresh rates. I can say that games like The Division 2 and PGA 2k25 look much better on my PC than on my Xbox / TV
I have a 4k widescreen monitor because I don't mind sitting in at my gaming desk. I watch movies in here because it looks so good.

Re: What Non-sports games is everyone playing?
I've done a lot of PC gaming on TV's being used as monitors. I've also used consoles on PC monitors.
PC on TVs almost always looks worse than a dedicated monitor. Most of the reason is the TV is (in general) a lot bigger than your actual monitor, so even 4K output a 60" is going to look at lot worse, pixel-wise, than 4K at 32" or 40" or something. But if you aren't used to seeing that crisp image on a smaller screen, you wouldn't likely care. You're generally sitting a lot closer to your PC screens, as well, so those blocky pixels show up pretty clearly.
And conversely, using my PS5 Pro on my OLED TV from across the room looks crystal clear and beautiful on a 60" screen. But connect that same console to 48" OLED monitor that i'm sitting a few feet from, and it looks "worse" simply because i can see everything so close.
But really, the display is what matters. If they have a dedicated PC input, it's generally the one intended for that use. But you COULD use any HDMI or DisplayPort option and it'll work. Unless you were jumping back and forth, you won't care or notice much.

saw a cool game on tiktok live feed - shadow of war mordor. looked pretty cool and different than anything I've witnessed.
I see the game is available on gamepass and I downloaded it on PS Plus for PS4 when it was available.
will try it out.

this shadow of war - mordor game is fantastic. Im playing it on easy so it's nice to not get stuck as I'm really bad at these type of games. The soul games I can't even get past the first boss. But this one is challenging even on easy. the design of the creatures and variety is insane. if there are more games like this I'd like to play them. It doesn't have to be a LOTR or Fantasy type world. And it's not button mashing.

Both those games were good, they have to be almost 10 years old at this point but the nemesis system was greatLancer wrote: Thu Oct 09, 2025 12:48 pm this shadow of war - mordor game is fantastic. yes. that's the problem w/ playing sports games all the time. you miss out on the other good non-sports games that are not mega titles.Danimal wrote: Thu Oct 09, 2025 1:19 pmBoth those games were good, they have to be almost 10 years old at this point but the nemesis system was greatLancer wrote: Thu Oct 09, 2025 12:48 pm this shadow of war - mordor game is fantastic.
