MLB THE SHOW 25

Post by Lancer »

3 cover athletes this year and looks like no more last gen. Hope that means better graphics.

Also it says not on sub services so probably not going to be on gamepass. we'll see.

Not here, unless there are new features. The Show 24 was stale -- pretty much the same as 23 for me, as someone who doesn't dive super-deep into various game modes.

I am going to stick with 24. I will just go ahead and buy it on sale somewhere. It's fantastic and it doesn't look like much is changing. I only do franchise with no interest in the card stuff. Also have seen nothing about importing franchise, so I see no reason to move on.

Yeah, like you and PK - think I'm sticking with 24. I'll update some rosters and start my franchise over, but I didn't play much last year even so it'll still be fresh to me most likely. It's a fine game, just not exactly innovating from year to year since it went Next Gen.

Looks pretty good for the ‘25 rosters in ‘24. Updated with the top 25 prospects from each team as well as updated all of the stats from last year also.

I will have to do that. Thanks. I will have to buy the game first since it is off of Gamepass on 3/15. I was hoping it would go on sale before it leaves.

I have an ongoing franchise going with fictional players that has been fun. Since there are minimal changes (like all sports games from year to year) and no importing franchise option, no reason to get the new game for me.

Oh crap, didn’t know it was leaving gamepass, but obviously that makes sense and then it also pushes me to just buy the new one next week during normal release. Dang it.

very very initial impressions.

graphics have gone backwards

they've decided to go high contrast and mess w/ the player models. THE SHOW use to have the best player models in a sports videogame but now they made them bigger which sort of makes the models look out of whack. it's like they lost all their detail and physique. Now they look like a bland cheap version of the previous models.

The game looks like a nintendo baseball game from gamecube era. i s*** you not. the lighting is off too . I just had played 24 last week and was still amazed how great that game looked. how clear it came off the screen. This one sort of doesn't

I dont know if it had to do with me playing in DD or not since it's dependent on servers.

--
the quick menu in game they messed up. instead of just pressing up, now you have to either press left or right depending on bullpen or substitutions. and if you warm up 2 guys, you have to scroll down to see which guys are warming up by the icon besides their name. instead of the older way where the game screens just shows you the names of the pitchers warming up.

played more today and the gameplay is pretty crisp. not sure if that's because the game isnt' officially released yet and the servers aren't hogged up but so far it's been good to play. Very fast reaction times by the fielders.

DD is back to what I would say normalcy. Last year's DD was the worst ever but this year they seemed to have listened to the fans. Lot of content to grind on release week.

If you want to grind DD this year and stay current with the real MLB Rosters and season then you can pickup this game.

But if you're not a huge baseball fan and don't need this game right away, you can probably stick with 24 and be happy. 24 gameplay was the best in the series and only downfall of that game as DD. But if you play franchise or just h2h exhibition or h2h online, you'll be fine with 24 with updated rosters.

i'm a bit bored w/ the game already. Talking mainly about DD. the game is solid, but it's like doing the same thing over and over again for the last how many years. I think it's like 8 MLBTS games in a row for me where it's playing the same game modes, for the same 90 percent of cards, etc...

I use to grind this game and try to finish every program every year. But last year I stopped doing that because 24 DD was so bad, but I think that was a good thing. I now don't need to grind in the game and try to enjoy it more. But DD is still getting really boring to play for me.

maybe this year I ll change it up and do franchise mode. I haven't done a real franchise in this game since probably the PS2 days. Or maybe go back into MTO which I also haven't done in like 4 years.

Lancer, thanks for the initial impressions. I'm likely to just play Road to the Show and Franchise. I did enjoy the negro league Storylines last year, so I will check those out again this year. DD has never really interested me.

sportdan - i haven't checked out the storylines yet. I also did RTTS but I'm not a RTTS guy. I did it really get the trophies/achievements.

you do get to choose if you want to go to college. but the college experience is only like 4 games in the college world series. once you commit to college, it goes to your senior year. it's not like you can play in college for 4 years in the game. then you play the college WS and see if you can win. then you get drafted.

You do get to play a few high school games and an all star game too at the beginning.

-
On the DD side, they added the Tokyo series tonight. I sort of had some fun with that one. Still trying to do it but it sort of gave me some extra energy back to this game. I'm sort of like it more that I play but it maybe because the real MLB is starting in Japan w/ the Cubs. So this program sort has got me hooked to playing THE SHOW 25.

--

I think between MLB25 and PGA 2k25 i'll be good for my sports game fix til July. I also play Madden franchise and CFB dynasty mixed in there. And I'm also enjoying Top Spin on PS plus.
