I would bet on that being a version of what Nintendo just tried to so with the NES. It will be a box that plays all the old games. And seriously, I might have spent 1000 hours on Activision Boxing, but I'm not going back it.

Speaking of Scorpion, they showed how Madden 18 would look on that console but the game that stole the show yesterday was definitely Battlefront 2. I mean that's as close to 4K quality as I've seen in a video game for a console game and of course they have a few more months to polish things off.

The $499 price point doesn't surprise me. I was hoping for $449 but MS has been saying "premium console, premium price." The XB1 launched art $499 I believe.

I am excited to see what the console looks like, what special features it may or may not have and what the games will look like. We already have a decent idea about it but I am sure MS has a few surprises ready for us :).

It does doesn't it? That will be a feast for the eyes in 4K res @60 FPS, when I finally get a display that can support it... I'll get there before November 7th, I'd guess :)

I'm already wondering how much treatment the force feedback physics will get in Forza 7. Forza 6's force feedback is pretty bland, IMO. I'm amazed at how much better the force feedback is in Forza Apex, and wondered why they couldn't get them to translate into Forza 6?

Anthem looks pretty damn badass. As some said yesterday it looks like a Destiny killer.

Any word on the rumored trade up program? And I know the xb1 games will all work and all that with x, but are there x games that won't work on the xb1?

There won't be any XB1 X that won't run on XB1 for quite awhile, and it will probably take a third party. Think of it like iOS. At some point the old hardware will just start feeling slow. Upgrade when it suits you.

I'm down with the X.B.O.X. Considering the cross platform play of (XB1 & XB1S, Xb1X), it eases the whole "when are you going to buy it?" Talk among your friends. We can all still play rocket league or overwatch, it just might look better on my tv. No sweat. Our group always had an 'all or nothing' discussion over each new console. No more (for now at least).

I'll be working to get my hands on an Xbox One X by the end of the year. I don't have a 4K TV yet, but I want to have the console in place when I pull the trigger (Or when the wife will allow it to happen). The power of this console is too good to pass up. I like that you can play all Xbox One games on any system someone has so that won't isolate people on your Friends List. Just curious how a game like Forza 7 will play online with someone that has an Xbox One S vs. one that has an Xbox One S.

Anthem looks really badass! Will be also purchasing Forza 7, Crackdown 3, and Star Wars Battlefront 2. Most likely will get CoD WWII.

I'll wait for a pack in game bundle just like the Nintendo Switch when it's discounted. The problem with the Scorpio is that there isn't any compelling game to warrant the purchase like Bloodborne or Horizon Zero Dawn did for the PS4 or Zelda for the Switch. Microsoft is using Forza just like Sony did with Ridge Racer. That isn't a system seller.

And that pretty much has defined this generation of consoles. Sony is kicking ass with 1st party exclusives while Microsoft has taken a step back and has relied more on third party games.

Went through all the recaps over the weekend, and at the risk of going full curmudgeon, it was a pretty big nothingburger for me.

4K? Meh.
None of the games got me particularly excited. Wolfenstein looked cool, I guess.
Only the Battlefront 2 details really caught my eye.

Not sure why 'Metro' got much love in this community but I always enjoyed Metro 2033 and particularly Metro Redux. The new one is called Exodus and it's an exclusive for Xbox.

A new Halo title with HDR effects and 4K resolution, running at 60 frames per second would have perhaps made that $499 seem reasonable. As it stands, it may prove like a luxury purchase until inevitably, the price tumbles.

With rumours that the PS4 Pro may drop in prices, it'll be interesting to see where the gamers will go. And as you said not sure even if they pack Forza 7 would make them an automatic system seller.

Having said that, if they have a decent trade in program, I am all for it. For the record, I am not so keen on the X brand name, I would have left it as Scorpio.

Yup if Microsoft, Best Buy or Gamestop has a decent trade in like they did for the Switch where you can trade a console in for $200 trade up with NO bundles involved then yeah count me interested.

The problem is MS boxed themselves in with the X-ONE-X by saying you can play any game on older hardware so that makes it a tougher sell to upgrade unless there's an incentive. Hell, I still have NO interest in VR gaming or the Nintendo Switch.

And yeah MS needs to watch out for the PS4 Pro because of Sony's strong 1st party games, again something MS totally dropped the ball on this hardware generation since the PS4 and XONE were introduced. Where are the new system selling IP's like Gears of War or Halo brought to the XBOX's? Everything so far has been there done that. I'm with Rob on the nothingburger.

Exactly what are PS4's strong games? Horizon is a great game, it was also lost in the crowd. Calling it a system seller is not accurate, it SHOULD of been a system seller but it wasn't due to poor launch timing and little to no buzz from Sony.

I'm not saying your point isn't valid, a strong game to bundle would help but aside from Zelda and the switch I'm not seeing anything else resembling that criteria.

Last of Us, Uncharted, MLB The Show...to name a few PS4 exclusives besides Horizon, which isn't my cup of tea anyway, so never played it.

Like most here, my purchase decision at launch hinges on values from a trade-in program or local sale. I would rather spend discretionary income -- and there isn't much, as I have a kid attending an Ivy League school -- on a new TV that benefits everyone in the house, not just gamers. My 2009 Panny plasma is getting a little long in the tooth at just 720p.

There's just not enough compelling value in a new console that simply shows prettier pictures and is more future-proof. The retail price WILL drop before the console truly shows the benefits of its power other than graphics.

His exact quote was:

2 of the 3 titles you name would qualify as been there, done that. Last of Us was a PS3 game right? I'm asking where are these new IP's that are must haves, that is what he was alluding too.

I still plan to preorder the X1X, but admit to being underwhelmed by most of the presser.

I think MS needed to hit the ground with at least one of, a killer exclusive IP, or a better price point (399 would have been awesome, if perhaps unrealistic, but even 449 distances it a little from "$500 console").

Sadly, they fell flat on both accounts IMO. Other than a couple of almost lesser heralded IPs (Last Night, Ashen, and a couple of others caught my eye at least), the exclusives were a bit meh. Even titles that seemed promising were presented a bit flat (looking at Sea of Thieves and Crackdown here).

As a result, I'd be upgrading in order to, largely, play the 'best' version of most multiplatform titles. Anthem and Shadows looked great, and I played the first SoM on PS4, so I'll welcome a switch to Xbox, but it just seems like a missed opportunity to come out with a new first party property to rival The likes of Sony's Last of Us, Horizon, Uncharted. Hell, even Sony's God of War looks like its new installment is poised to reinvigorate the series.

I mean, I do expect the console to shine with the likes of BF2 and other third party titles. The machine definitely appears to be a beast, spec-wise. It's just that multi platform games are often optimized across platforms and I really would have liked to see a true first party title that stood on its own on X1X.

In fairness, that might be strategic on MS's part, not wanting to segregate their Xbox platform yet, or risk alienating current Xbox owners who have no interest in upgrading. But it may make a harder sell to prospective X adopters.
