It's just one of those slippery slopes...I started with "I want a wheel!" Then I got a wheel, and I didn't like pedals moving around. Next thing I wanted triple screens. Then I wanted a shifter. I have a button box that I use, too, and before I knew it I'm chasing each new piece of tech.
Ace just mentioned the exact thing I thought when I first got the TX, and that led me to all sorts of expensive areas. It's always the funniest conversation starter when anybody comes to the house.
"Holy....s***. Can I try that?"
I think I've converted 4 separate friends into online racers just trying it first and getting the itch.

Does anyone have ffb settings they use in Dirt? Terry, did you find yours?

Re: DiRT Rally
I use these except i have lower steering ratio by default and a few percent if any steering saturation. I dont like moving the wheel a lot it gets me into trouble so soft lock is off.
So basically everything he does except his steering ratio and linearity or saturation which ever he tweaked as i still thought it had a lot of movement to turn for sharper corners.

Pretty sure code masters online system is even worse than MLB the Show's.
Re: DiRT Rally
I have a heavier rim on mine so it may require some tinkering, but here's what I have:Gangrel wrote:Does anyone have ffb settings they use in Dirt? Terry, did you find yours?
I've got my deadzones at 0 and saturation at 100. I put linearity at 2 for a bit snappier response from corner to corner, without a lot of overcorrection problems. My soft lock is on, 900 degree calibration.
Self Aligning Torque: 30% (this is the biggest one to change to raise or lower overall feel.
Wheel Friction: 20%
Tyre Friction: 50%
Suspension: 25%
Tyre Slip: 70%
Engine: 60%
Collision: 90%
Soft Lock: 100%
Steering Center Force: 65%
With the default TX rim I think I ran it at about 20% SAT.
Re: DiRT Rally
Thanks. I'll try these and Jimmy's and see what works for my temporary setup. I tried ones suggested by TM themselves and I was sweating as the wheel felt 100 pounds!
Hopefully I'll have time to put these in and finish the dsp rally.

Here's a picture of my "sim rig" for right now. It's almost as good as Terry's, but nowhere near as comfortable.

You're missing only 3 TV monitors and the best part is your left side mirror...

Better repost those pics for jimmy...
Re: DiRT Rally
They are in Google photos, not sure why they aren't working for him.
Also, the couch you see part of is my official Dragon's Den. It's a recliner, which explains why some nights I'm sleepy........

Re: DiRT Rally
Fshguy and I were 1.001 seconds apart overall. I was acutely conscious of how close we were because after the second last race he was suddenly in front.
That last race was nerve-racking, leading to this:

And then 10 metres from the finish line I got lost in the woods and burned 15 seconds (that clip obviously didn't upload before I turned off for the night, I'll get it later).

Re: DiRT Rally
That was a hell of a save! The pucker factor in this game is second to none

Congrats... Much tougher when you know you're closer in time and the pressure is on!Jimmy_Lazerbeams wrote:Fshguy and I were 1.001 seconds apart overall. I was acutely conscious of how close we were because after the second last race he was suddenly in front.

Re: DiRT Rally
Btw I can see why people buy a separate shifter. Paddle shifting in this game sucks when you are in panic mode with the wheel spin round.......

Yep! I'm telling you, you've opened Pandora's Box here.
It's so much nicer to be able to just grab a gear and steer with the left (or when going from 4th to 2nd, just skip 3rd gear, for example).
Welcome to the dark side, Ace.

Re: DiRT Rally
Ace, a shifter in our neck of the woods is as or more expensive than a wheel.

Re: DiRT Rally
Yeah, they are $179 here in town. I think I will avoid the shifter for now and find a way to live with the paddles. My wheel stand is supposedly on the way, so hopefully it makes it through the mail system before they end up locked out.
I think that will do it for now, the wife knows how much the wheel was, but I haven't told her how pricey the stand is. I'm sure by the time i do the conversion, it's more than the wheel!
But Mike from Xlerator was good, he asked me which wheel I had, and he told me he set it up for the TX before putting it in the box, so I guess he's premounted the plates or something.
I also saved some cash ordering from him directly, though it was cheaper through Ebay with the global shipping program. But everything i read about the GSP isn't very good, so i figured the extra cash gets me piece of mind that it will get delivered.

Re: DiRT Rally
Nope, paddle shifters for the win, why take your hand off the wheel , hard enough with 2 hands. Sounds like you have to much steering ratio to me.Gangrel wrote:Btw I can see why people buy a separate shifter. Im in google what can i do to see the pics ? a setting or something, maybe thats why i couldnt see 10's bandana collection.
