The new Cortana dashboard interface looks good.

Will Cortana require Kinect? Seems like it would have to unless you could use your headset.

I guest would be okay to enable the headset to take certain commands, but it would be kind of a crappy way to force your customers to use those features. I sure don't want to have to grab my headset to use Kinect. I'm afraid that do so will just leave a bad impression of how cool voice commands really are to many of their customers. Microsoft needs to release a microphone-only Kinect for $30 or so. Voice commands really are a nice feature I use every day, while i never use the camera at all. The other option is to embed a microphone in a new controller.

But the biggest thing in that video is that they concentrated on making the UI snappier when loading friends and messages, and when snapping. That stuff is great, but it works t slow right now.

I also like moving the activity feed out onto the dashboard.

But yeah, using Cortana to send conceptual commands is pretty great. It works really well on my WP8 phone. Being able to ask certain to call my daughter or play a certain band or song without knowing the magic cues is really helpful. Once I started trusting that Cortana would understand me even if I didn't know exactly how to ask, I started using it for more stuff.

There are many times I would like to tell the console to save the last three or five minutes without having to bring up the Game DVR. It's a great way to give you more flexibility when recording clips. It's a perfect way to send, "good game" messages after match. Right now I snap my friends list, change to recent players, select the most recent, and then select send message. It's no wonder hardly anyone does this. But I almost always get a nice message back when I do, because it is easier to respond to a message than sending the first one.

Not sure how Cortana can work on the Xbox if there is no Kinect.....or some sort of mic. Unless I am missing something and that would not be the first time nor will it be the last time..... 8O

Hey All.

I picked up a PS4 last week and I'm looking for some suggestions for games. I have Project Cars, The Last of Us, Dragon Age Inquisition and Fifa. What were some of the games that you guys really enjoyed on the PS4?

Thanks.

Driveclub and mgs are free right now w a ps plus subscription. Driveclub is fun but more arcade racer.

Get batman - it's stealth / adventure / racing into one.

Fifa runs smooth as silk on ps4. Probably the best sports game on the system. The controller is perfect for that game.

Got around to trying Backwards compatibility with the XB1 this weekend with Geometry Wars and Toy Soldiers both XBLA titles I had. Downloaded them and played worked flawlessly and didn't notice any glitches at all. First time starting them up took a bit but after that butter. I also was reminded how much time I sunk into Geometry Wars :D

There is a pretty mega sale on Xbox One and 360 games going on. It was supposed to start tomorrow and go for a week, but reports are that many games are already discounted.

Image

http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/07/03/ ... -discount/
As revealed on Twitter by Larry Hryb (aka “Major Nelson”), Xbox Live’s Ultimate Game Sale 2015 is officially set to kickoff starting next week, with the sale scheduled to run from July 7th – 13th, 2015 and including games such as Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Goat Simulator, Ori and the Blind Forest, and more.

The Ultimate Game Sale will feature “over 70 games across Xbox One and Xbox 360,” with discounts for titles featured in the sale set for up to 40-50% their original price: as an added bonus, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will also be able to save up to 10% off additionally on games purchased.
According to GAF, some stuff already up:

Terraria: $8
Halo the Master chief collection: $35.99
Dragon Age Inquisition Deluxe edition: $35.00 (I don't know about standard as I already purchased one)
The legend of Korra: $7.50
Need for speed rivals Complete edition: $30 (No sales for standard)
Walking dead season one and two each: $12.50
Sleeping dogs DE: $15
Middle earth Shadow of mordor: $20 (No sales for Goty edition)
Diablo 3 Reaper of souls Ultimate Evil Edition: $30
LEGO® Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Deluxe Edition: $13.75

Anyone want to trade me a PS4 for an XB1? I've got two XB1s and only one PS4...and I need a second PS4 instead of the XB1. MLB Extra Innings and NFL Sunday ticket are both far superior on the Sony machine, so w/ football coming up, I need to prepare. :)

Think I'll pick up Sleeping Dogs for that price. I recall renting it, playing for the first hour or so and loving it, and then got busy with other things. At that price, it seems like a great deal.

Just curious, how are they superior?

The biggest thing for me is the interface. We'll talk about MLB now cuz it's in season.

A Braves game starts at 4:00pm on the west coast. I get home at 6:00pm. The game hasn't ended yet. On the Playstation 3/4 I can launch the application and start from the beginning (or watch live if I so desire). I can then press R1 to advance past all of the commercials and get to the next inning...or jump directly to a specific inning if I want. It functions exactly the same whether the game is in progress or if it's over already. Again, 1 button press and boom you're at the next pitch of the next half inning.

On both the XB1 and the AppleTV, you can also start from the beginning but you can only fast forward through the game (while the screen freezes btw)...and its' a complete crap shoot when you FF through commercials to get to the next half inning. Also, if the game ends while you're "behind" the system will completely reset and you have to fast forward to the spot you were at (could be two hours in). PAIN in the ASS.

My xbo has 25 gb left and it's not even a year old.

What is a good external hd you all recommend? I'd like 1TB if I can get that for say under $100.

Thanks for the tip. I saw that page led to other hds. Looks likes 2tb is less than 100 now. Can xbo support 2tb? Big titles take up 50gb today think how big the games will be 2 years from now. 2tb going to be enough this gen down the line?

Because of Rory I got EA Access and I'm not sure why I waited so long what a good purchase. I save $50 on Rory and got a whole bunch of games. My daughter and I have been playing the crap out of FIFA 15 and PvZ. I hope Dragon age ends up here because it's on sale foe lie $19 this week so it must be coming here sooner or later.

Yeah, that's going to be a must have. But I will probably wait for a price drop, a sale, or pick one up used. I'm sure they will end up on Craigslist and the like.

And this is the case and accessories it comes with.
