I don't think they're expecting Embiid to be ready by the start of the season, or anywhere remotely close. I even read they could keep him out the entire season.

Embiid is the next Greg Oden, sadly.

A bummer for the kid. But I don't feel any sympathy for Hinkie or the Sixers. They knew Embiid was damaged goods when they drafted him, yet still rolled the dice.

Snake eyes.

At least this will give Hinkie another reason to justify a third consecutive sh*t season for the Sixers and his continued insanity of hoarding "assets" instead of building a competitive team.

How long will Sixers' fans tolerate this "mad scientist" bullsh*t from Hinkie? When will this franchise start converting these "assets" into a real basketball team?

You're only a mad scientist if you actually come up with some success. He's done Jack Sh*t except ruin a once proud franchise. I'd be pissed if I were a Sixer fan.

I commented on this in the other NBA thread. Definitely a bummer but I disagree with your prediction of Hinkie going for a third s*** season. From the beginning he has stayed the course with his plan. I totally disagree with the "tanking" accusations by the media etc. The Sixers needed to tear it down and build a foundation. That simply doesn't happen over night...or in 2-3 seasons for that matter. Most fans have little patience let alone a lot of patience. I like Hinkie and like the direction right now. The Sixers could have blown money on some mid level FAs and put together a team that simply just makes the playoffs....if that. I'm down with building. They will be more competitive this year and have 3-4 1st round picks in next year's draft...and $$$ to spend. I do realize everyone else will have $$ with the cap going up and what true stud is going to want to sign with the Sixers? None. Thus the plan to continue to build.

Sixers in 2016-17 will be coming off a draft with their #1 pick (which they can swap places with Sac), LA's and OKC's (if I'm not mistaken). They will also have Dario Saric in camp. So that will essentially be 4 new first rounders (if you count Saric even though he was a '14 first rounder) going into '16-17. I'm not mad at that. They aren't tanking.
