Congrats to everyone at NASA -- including our own F308GTB -- for a successful first launch and splashdown today of the Orion program. In this era of drones, it's nice to see America reach for the stars again with a manned program.
I'm unashamed to admit the Apollo space geek in me bursts with pride today at seeing those red-and-white chutes bring the Orion capsule back to Earth. While the shuttle landings were cool and mind-blowing, there's something nostalgic as hell about seeing those red-and-white chutes floating over the Pacific. It takes me back to 1973, when I was 8, and glued to the TV watching the final Apollo splashdown.
WELL DONE, NASA! Can't wait to see more progress and future success of this mission.

I'll pass the congrats along. I worked briefly for a time on Orion and most recently and am on a independent team trying to resolve some issues that were uncovered during the manufacturing of the heat shield. But many of my coworkers just a few doors down are integral in the design, analysis, and verification of the structural aspects of Orion. No doubt a great day for them. Ironically I missed the whole show. Was in VA this week for a meeting about those heat shield issues and missed the launch while at the airport.
