Links on the PC was primarily 2D until Liinks 2003 had a 3D golfer, ball, and flag. Today's golf games are rendering fully 3D dynamic and animated environments that are incredibly taxing on even the best 3D hardware. Comparing today's 3D golf environments to Links 2D is comparing apples versus tomatoes..Pete1210 wrote:I don't understand how a golf game would stress a system today. Nobody has reported that their system has broke because of the game though. But ya , it's scary. I wonder if this happens on XBO as well? So far only PC/PS4 I've seen it reported.
I don't play this game maybe more than 45min to an hour so I think it should be ok. But say you're playing 2-3 hours, who knows. $400 system put at risk by a $40 game?

Finally broke par shooting 1 under at Pinehurst #2. 5 birdies which is by far the most I've had on one course and 4 bogies. Played it 3 other times this weekend and was always 6-10 over par.
I'll pay for it in 6 hours when I need to be up for work

Same thing happens to me many times on the PS4, XB1, and even the PC. This game pushes your GPU to the max. All I've read says that this is not a problem, but it feels and sounds a bit strange to me. I know TGC pushes my PC graphics card to the highest temperature I've ever seen it, but not quite enough to cause artifacts to appear. This goes back to when I first started playing the beta version back in February and I've had no real negative side effects yet, so I quit worrying about it.Inuyasha wrote:J_Cauthen - how come when I play some courses my PS4 sounds like it's going to take flight? -1 at Pinehurst is a solid round! That course is #1 on my list. Gonna try a few new ones recommended at pocketscout.comMUTTS wrote:Finally broke par shooting 1 under at Pinehurst #2. 5 birdies which is by far the most I've had on one course and 4 bogies. Fine tip on Pocket Scout, dude. I noticed how many user-created courses existed and wondered, "How the f*ck will I separate the diamonds from the cubic zirconia?"

To all players on XB1 - I created another test tourney for us to try out. It is named DSP Test2. You have six days to complete two rounds at Flathead County. Get to swinging the clubs!
After this maybe we can set up some sort of weekly tourney? There is also the option to add several different events/courses for x number of rounds and set it to a 30 day duration. We could maybe do 10 courses at 2 rounds per course and give us 30 days to complete? Any ideas?

-9 in round 2....left a number of strokes on the course....good luck everyone!
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I'll be giving it a go today... thanks! I love that Flathead County Club; it's easily my favorite official course in the game. BTW, does anyone else think the whole Boreal theme seems to be a cut above the others in not only having more realistic looking trees, bushes, long grasses, etc., but even more natural looking textures?
I have a hard time playing some of my older favorites on the Rural theme because they look so average in comparison to the Boreal theme.

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I'd like to recommend a couple of courses that have made it into my top ten this past week:
Bailiwick Grand Golf Club (Boreal theme) and The Oaks at Westchester (Autumn theme). Keep in mind when you're playing Bailiwick that it uses medium-fast greens and it's easy to get overambitious on your chips and long putts. OTOH, if you keep the fact that they are medium fast, you'll realize that it is a fair challenge.
The Oaks at Westchester looks like a course you could walk into. It's a fairly easy play, but not ridiculously easy like Little Brook Manor. It also plays very well on both of the consoles. I will be playing this course regularly just to see how its difficulty varies in different wind conditions.

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Id like to get a 4 ball in some time turn based , maybe some best ball even.
I really like this game but im getting worse instead of better, totally lost the plot on putting. seems the putts break more earlier in the stroke than at the end the opposite of what you would think. The break closest to you has way too much influence on the actual stroke.
So who is up for a live round some night?

Nice rounds so far guys. I'll give it a go soon, I broke my left thumb, my swinging thumb, a couple weeks ago in a motorcycle incident. Have been playing with my right but I think I can switch back to my left....we will see how it goes.
Jimmy- I'm always up for some live golf. I think it is much more fun that way.

I was going to try to make a 4 week Tour: 4 Weekly - 4 round Tournaments that would start Monday and end Sunday of each week. Everyone would have 7 days each week to get in 4 rounds for that tournament. Anyway, it did no seem like there was any way to accomplish this. I thought the tour would then track the overall points and results week by week to automatically score and crown a champion similar to our TW 13 tour of old, which was fun but a very manual time consuming scoring and screenshot process for those that were the admins of it. What am I missing here?

Are all the Xbox issues fixed for this game? Do I have to get this sucker now also for the X1?

There isn't a way to do that unless you setup a separate weekly tourney each week and then manually track the overall standings.DChaps wrote:I was going to try to make a 4 week Tour: 4 Weekly - 4 round Tournaments that would start Monday and end Sunday of each week. But you can create one big Tour, add events in the order and number of rounds you want, then set it to a max of 30 days to complete the whole "tour". Now, does it track the scores accurately? I don't know.

It would be nice to have the DSP tournaments/tours setup at the same time on all three mediums (PS4, Xbox1, and PC). I'd be willing to set them up on the PS4 since I don't own an Xbox1.10spro wrote:Are all the Xbox issues fixed for this game? Do I have to get this sucker now also for the X1?

Yeah in on the ps4 if tourneys exist. Lol.
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Don, there's no way in a Tour to structure it such that each event is given a week to play out. They just flow from one event to the next, with the only limit being that which TheTruth mentions - the overall Tour duration. What I do like about the way they do Tours though is that the scoring totals are shown only up to the point you've played. If someone else has already finished the 72 holes of a given event in the Tour, you're only going to see the totals of what's been played within a couple of total holes to what you've played. It's revealed as you go along, which adds an appropriate amount of suspense, IMO. It's not realistic in a real world sense, but in a setup like this, where people can conceivably be playing days and even weeks apart.TheTruth wrote:There isn't a way to do that unless you setup a separate weekly tourney each week and then manually track the overall standings.DChaps wrote:I was going to try to make a 4 week Tour: 4 Weekly - 4 round Tournaments that would start Monday and end Sunday of each week. I finished the DSP Test 2 tournament last night and really enjoyed it. I can relate to your problem with your thumb. I broke my 5th metacarpal in my left hand a couple of years ago in a bicycle wreck and had to wear a cast for a month. I couldn't manipulate my thumb well enough to operate the left thumbstick. My cybergolf game suffered immensely from this!TheTruth wrote:Nice rounds so far guys. I'll give it a go soon, I broke my left thumb, my swinging thumb, a couple weeks ago in a motorcycle incident. I tried the right thumbstick route and never got the feel from it that I do with the left thumb, even though I'm right handed. Anyway, hope you'll be in action on this one soon... we only have four players on the leaderboard for this one right now.
One thing this tournament did for me was to remind me how much I love this course. Flathead County Golf Club is in my top 10 courses for TGC right now. It plays well on all three versions of the game!
Jimmy, I'd be all over some online multiplayer. I've never tried anything beyond two-player medal play in live multiplayer, with turn-based play enabled and disabled. I haven't tried turn-based play since the update with voice communications though. I know before the update there was about an 8 second delay between hearing the voice and then seeing the action of your opponents on the screen. I've heard that it's anywhere from 3 to 5 seconds after the update. I'm game for it tonight, although it might be 11 PM EST before I could play. I'll just plan on being online in TGC menu about then.
