Either reason, he didnt look that good today. None of them did really.

Bad loss.

Need Sturridge back.

Why the f*** is Rodgers sitting Sterling?

He said midweek that he was trying to be conscious of the long-term with such a young player. Coupled with his comments about the poor quality of training with the England side, it makes some sense to give him a breather and use him in the CL match.

It was just a lousy game. This team is still so clearly in search of a post-Suarez identity and very low on confidence, especially for a side that's so technically skilled.

None of this matters because unless Diego Costa's hamstrings start to go, nobody is catching Chelsea.

Di Maria is crazy. Granted its QPR but that attack seems to have found its stride.

What may have been for Argentina if he had not been hurt.

So Jimmy does know what is talking about.

Makes sense. Rodgers knows best.

The game was hard to watch for sure.

Gus Johnson out as lead soccer announcer at FOX:

Can I get a "hallelujah," brothers? Great news.

Glad to hear it. It was painful to listen to.

I have to say that given my otherwise warm feelings toward Johnson, I found it more painful than irritating to hear him shoehorned into the soccer booth. It was clearly a fish out of water situation from the start, and I hope Fox has learned from their mistake.

I ran into him a few weeks ago in a bar when I was in my RBNY Henry jersey on the way to a game. We talked for a little while and I asked him, "so, do you love the game yet?" His response was "No. It's too much work, too much for me to learn and keep track of." It made me sad to hear. He respects the hell out of it and can enjoy it to some degree, but the stress he felt every time he was on he air, the pressure he put on himself to not disappoint the vicious internet American soccer fans, was making it impossible for him to enjoy his job.

I'm sure he's relieved, but I for one never hated him in the booth as much as others. I actually thought he did a really good job in the CL Final.

He was super cool to hang out with for a little while.

I'll never forget him getting into a fight at 2am on Beale Street in Memphis and then broadcasting a basketball game 8 hours later. Phenominal.

Amazing goal by Celta de Vigo against Atleti yesterday:

Still time for the developers at Konami to tweak the Atleti keeper before Pes 15 comes out.

At times both teams have been clumsy, City may have more possession of the ball but Chelsea could have had a hand ball called for them as Yaya Toure did seem to stretch his arms out. With the way some yellow cards have been given (ref has been consistent in that way) I wouldn't be surprised if a careless tackle would decide the game in the second half. As it is now, it's too close to call.

Some great Premier League stuff this morning.

Freaking Lampard with City down to 10 players.

Plus United getting ripped earlier.

Not even Di Maria's gorgeous vaseline goal could erase the frailty that is United at the back end. What a turn around by Leicester.

I think the Polish Army had a better defense in September 1939 than ManU does this September.

That story read a hell of a lot more like one FIFA official's opinion rather than a trial balloon floated by one of Blatter's corrupt emissaries.

Corrupt Qatari regimes are paying. So the games will continue playing in that nation. It's that simple. Blatter doesn't care about climate, human rights abuses or horrible working conditions that have resulted in the death of hundreds of Nepalese imports working on the various construction projects.

What a strike by Jagielka (yes he's in my fantasy pool 8)) to tie Liverpool in ET.

Mangala not having a good day so far for City.

I swear that Rooney is dumber every year.

You cant blame Wayne , its all the chemicals he has to put on his head to make that hair grow leaching into his brain.
That and hes on my fantasy team, its a curse. If you dont believe me i get rid of Zableta and he has the best game of the season.
I give up. Thats why its called fantasy so all you losers who are s*** at the real game or sports in general can compete in something.

OK, I gave it 48 hours and I'm still goddamn furious about the completely incompetent officiating at the start of the derby. Barry accumulated what should have been 3 yellow cards in the span of about 4 minutes and should've been watching from the training room for the duration.

Handball? What handball? Those arms are in a completely natural position. I often run around and perform my daily tasks with my appendages arrayed this way. Sure it makes for the periodic awkward interpersonal encounter, but I shouldn't be penalized on a football pitch if some wayward shot should hit my arms.

Image

This was utter bullshit! The nonsense impulse of officials to excuse obvious infractions because they happen too early in the game. Completely unacceptable.

Besides the current Chelsea-Arsenal match being played, there's another big match happening in the Monumental none other than the super Clasico River-Boca later on. For those that haven't followed the derby lately River has been playing some outstanding 'Jogo Bonito' under former player 'muñeco' Marcelo Gallardo and not just winning games but killing their opponents.

But Boca is Boca and will stop the 'Gallinas' tonight. 8)

Good luck 10s.

Wtf is Diego Costa on? Holy awesome finish. Made a nice play that Hazard did not finish minutes before.
