Wonderful. Gaborik getting into a fight.

Re: NHL 15
It seems everyone is talking about cameras and camera angles, my vote would be for a first person hockey view/camera angle. Did anyone play the first person view in NFL 2K? That was one of the best things I remember from that game, it made me feel as though I was really dressed and on the field.

ya that is long overdue but ea will never do it. so far from what I see we're getting current gen NHL with souped up graphics. i don't see any innovation so far from them. it's just rehash. to be fair it's an early build so let's wait and see but I dont count on EA doing anything different
Re: NHL 15
The best camera angle I have used was for the 2K NHL series. If my bad memory remembers it was called isometric? The zoom would be right at the action when two players would be fighting for the puck along the boards, yet distant enough to see the positional play of everyone on the ice.

Re: NHL 15
I hated that view, for the simple reason that there is no such thing as peripheral vision in a video game. You can try and emulate it with little read flashing arrows but still. I get why a lot of people liked this view, but for me it made it too difficult to play.ddtrane wrote:It seems everyone is talking about cameras and camera angles, my vote would be for a first person hockey view/camera angle. Re: NHL 15
First person might be good for goalie, no good for skaters. Way too much spinning and changing directions in hockey, and the lack of peripheral vision and flicking your head from side to side would be a total killer.

New screens :

Re: NHL 15
It might be just me, but I could care less about screenshots that aren't gameplay.
I really just need a demo to see how the game plays. I love how the series has played over the last five years, so I'm hoping it mostly feels the same, but the atmosphere os the new arenas, new presentation, and the better graphics makes it feel new.
And for f***'s sake they better add the home team getting the last line change back in. I don't care if they leave it out in online play because the kiddies get mad if they are a road team, but I really like matching up my lines with what the road team has put out. It lets you know when you can really rest your top line, or if you have a particular lone you want to roll to exploit a match-up.

I agree. Random screen shots, announce cover athlete...I couldn't care less.Aristo wrote:It might be just me, but I could care less about screenshots that aren't gameplay.

I need gameplay. The big things I'd like to see on next gen when I think about it are AI and better player responsiveness (this has always actually been pretty bad in this series, not that it gets much pub).

Yeah I think EA needs a video game dictionary or wiki that would define gameplay video as "Graphics that are on the screen that shows what the gamer is seeing while controlling the action."Naples39 wrote: Er, I guess user celebrations is a kind of gameplay.

Re: NHL 15
They call those videos the "Gameplay Series", sort of like a dev diary. It's silly, but they're not confused at all. Just misleading. They're saying gameplay video coming, just like they'd say Road to Release video coming if they had termed the videos the Road To Release Series.

Yes it puts a cool sheen on all the jerseys and pants to make them look like a bin liner.

At least the game will look good in Vader's video recaps.

I think we now have proof that Ramjag is actively out there trying to screw the Ice Dragons (and Diablo). The controls are more or less the same, with the exception of an improved skill stick that eliminates the need hold down the X button (or A, on Xbox) in order to protect the puck. A lot of care was put into making the actions and reactions of the players appear more natural than the last game. Producer Sean Ramjagsingh told me that the AI in this game was built from the ground up. The result was a slightly sloppier -- but by that virtue, more realistic -- experience.
While in ’14, slap shots from in between the face-off circles and cross crease one-timer attempts were nearly automatic, ’15 places a premium on different tactics. Greatly improved puck physics and player movements (and collisions) now make it more possible to score tough, ugly goals. Ramjagsingh told me he frequents Xbox Live in order to get a feel for how gamers were consistently scoring, which helps him know what adjustments needed to be made for ’15. “We have this vision for how we want the game to play, and then we put it out there in the wild where people are just playing to win,” he told me. “I have to see online the ways that people are trying to ‘game the game.’”
