Just finished 9 holes of golf with Trevor. Shot -1. It was actually enjoyable and I think it would be pretty good as a multiplayer diversion. It felt like a real municipal course. I loved the F-bombs for the good shots and the bad. Sounded just like me. :)

The course icon appeared on the map around the 17% complete mark, or at about 10 hours in my case.

I always thought that they should have an option for text font size to be set to regular, larger, and super sized for older eyes. I sit about ten feet away from the screen with glasses on and can't make out what it says at times on a 47 inch screen.

I got about 3 hours in with the game, mostly just messing around, drove a jet ski around until I got it stuck on land, was on foot going up a large hill and almost made it to the top when a cougar got me, the shooting range is a good mini game, got a couple of lap dances and then finally a bj from a hooker in a parking lot and then finally after I shot her I got killed running from the police. Good stuff!

Christ, this is the most relieved I've ever been as the result of a DSP post. :)

I thought my eyes were getting even worse than they already are. lol

I've let my 12-year-old and 8-year-old son play every M-rated game under the sun.

Not this one.

But I'm DIGGING this game to the mantle of the Earth. GTA V is magnificent. The graphics. The writing. The immense world. The incredible array of things to do.

Hot damn. What an incredible escape from reality. Isn't that what a brilliant video game is supposed to do?

I am digging the Los Santos rock station. Never gets old listening to Bob Seger and his 'Night Moves' among others. Played a bit with the Atomic blimp, cool view although I wished that there was a first person angle included. Trying to land it is a pain as I wasted a couple.

Flying it at night is dead gorgeous.

Btw, the app still doesn't work for me.

What a great great game! Such a time suck. I started playing last night around nine and the time flew by very quickly. By 12:15, I had shut it down, and really had only done a couple missions. I tried like heck to find the tennis, but had no luck. I even reverted to the map and couldn't pin point where it was.

The cops are freakin' relentless! Everytime, I thought I lost them, another one would be up the road waiting for me.

The city is massive. I'm flying by and not taking everything in like I should.

I am not a fan of driving and shooting. It's cumbersome and drives me nuts. I had to do a mission with Franklin and Lamar a half a dozen times because I can't figure out how to drive and shoot at the same time.

I did notice some frame rate slow down on the 360 while speeding down a straight away. Not overly distracting, but it's definitely noticeable.

The save system is a little confusing. I think I have two saves going on at the same time.

So far, I'm solely playing with Franklin. Looking forward to having the opportunity to using the other two guys. Ni**** might be overly used imo. Just saying. I definitely do not want my kids within earshot of this game.

Did the strip club.....and I liked what I saw. I made it rain! I wonder if you go back if it's always the same girl dancing, and the same girl offering private dances?

Maybe it's just me, but the aiming dot is way too small. I can barely pick it up when I'm in a gun fight. Is there an option to make it bigger?

Driving at 80 miles plus and trying to swerve through traffic all the while trying to read a tip or instruction DOES NOT WORK. I'm sure I've missed half of what I need to know.

I thought I was going to get lucky with a girl who shouted out my name, but all she wanted me to do was help her friend tow a car.....that side mission was a little cumbersome and not one I'm looking forward to doing again.

I think I enjoy riding the motorcycles more than the cars. They're a heck of a lot of fun and fast as all get out. And easy to control. I did see a byclist so I want to try that out very soon.

I do like the diversity of the cars, although I'm seeing a lot of station wagons with luggage on top. GTA always seems to have one car that's more out there than others.

Loving the winding roads up the mountains. This is like Forza Horizon (maybe less pretty graphics), but the destruction you can start....oooh I love it.

Found a cool old country radio station with Hank Williams and Waylon Jennings. Driving a SUV with Franklin while listening to Rebel Country...hilarious.

I could easily play this for several hours at a time, and I can't wait to play it late this weekend.

Online should be fantastic!

Me too...just terrible mechanics. So I just ran into the dude and he flew off the bike...mission passed. LOL.

That's exactly what I did! Lamar was saying that we had to shoot the dude, but I mistakenly tapped his tire, and he flew off. Thankfully, I didn't cause too much of a disturbance or I would have had the cops all over me. That mission sucked!

About driving and shooting, you literally have to take your hand off the gas and slow down and aim.....it's a horrible mechanic, and I hope there's not many missions like this one.

For you guys having trouble seeing text, not sure if this would help, but you can check the video options. By default, my "safe zone" (where you make the four arrows reach the edges of the TV) was much smaller than my TV screen.

sportdan30 wrote:The cops are freakin' relentless! Everytime, I thought I lost them, another one would be up the road waiting for me.
I do like the new mechanic they added with the vision cone to help you steer clear.

I had trouble with that too. I also ended up ramming the bike.

Nah. Lamar cracks me up.

Ahem, the girls are supposed to shift around and I personally will go back for a possible threesome experience. Best $40 bucks spent in the game so far.

Agreed. Wait until you have to rescue a yacht mission, man that was eternal for me.

We tend to forget we are a bunch of all farts playing video games, with decreased reflexes and poorer vision. Well, at least I am one of them...

The game truly is incredible in many, many ways. But I damn near took the disc out to throw it in the garbage a couple times. You have to remember that I am a UX/UI designer by trade so a few of the design decisions in this game made me crazy!

- It's 2013 and GTA STILL can't implement a better waypoint system?!?!? Trying to navigate traffic and having to bounce my focus back and fourth to the mini-map a thousand times a minute not only is extremely difficult, but it makes me motion sick.

- Displaying fairly important help text in the smallest font possible, in a small box in the upper left hand corner of the screen WHILE I am actually in a complicated portion of gameplay is bad design.

- The aiming dot is useless and unacceptable. That said, I still can't figure out how to auto-select targets because I couldn't read that text when it came up. Any help there would be appreciated.

And bottom line the text/content is just too damn small and hard to read. I have a 55" calibrated, fairly high end plasma TV and sit an average distance from it - I just can't make out most of the text and, in fact, my eyes literally hurt after paying this for a while.

My drive during sunset to nighttime up the Vinewood hills and overlooking downtown did make it all worth it tough. Incredible.

I was tooling around as Franklin last night. Found a Brinks truck, stole it, finally evaded the cops. In order to get the money out of it, you have to get the back doors open. Had no way to blast them open, so I spent a ton of time backing the damned truck into concrete barriers, poles, you name it...no luck. But while I was trying all that, I ran across a military base, so I drove in. Got shot at alot, but since I was in a Brinks truck, it didn't do much to me. Found a military helicopter, and took it for a spin. Franklin can't fly for s***. lol. BUT I got to see a lot of the landscape from the air, at night, and it was extremely nice. Fired the cannons at several cars on the ground, found the blimp, and tried to land the chopper on it. Just as I pressed Y to exit the chopper, it slid off the side of the blimp, and I plummeted to a pretty darn grisly death to the freeway below.

None of that had anything to do with any missions, just fun crap I found to do. This game rocks.

As far as the aiming dot, I'm not certain what the problem is. It's a lock-on like RDR for me. No trouble shooting baddies here. Do you guys turn the lock-on off or something?

Curious too. I'll have to check it out.

Agree that sometimes the game has too many DSP moments as Brando would put it: "Done Swearing, Paul"?

Have read there is a reticle option that you can set from simple to complex. Complex makes it a little bigger. I'm out of town for work so havent even played yet, so not sure where in the menu it is.

Isn't auto-lock just pulling the left trigger? Then once you kill that dude, just press it again to lock on to the next guy? I'm not at home, so strictly going by memory.

As for the UI design Spooky speaks of...yeah, the waypoint system is terrible, but I find getting to the map and waiting for it to load via the start menu is WAY more bothersome. It's just so damn slow. Forza Horizon, Test Drive Unlimited...those guys do it right. Not to mention, the navigation portion is a lot cleaner as well.

Locking on is exactly like Read Dead Redemption. Get the center of your screen near a guy, pull LT, and you'll lock onto him.

While locked on, flick the R stick left or right to switch targets. Can clear rooms of 10 guys in seconds this way.

If you pull LT while the center of the screen is "in space" and not on a guy, it doesn't lock. And if you don't release LT when killing to lock a new guy, it's basically free aim.

Options - you can make the dot a bit bigger (it adds a border). Still pretty small though.

I haven't had a problem with the shooting but then again I've played pretty much every Rockstar game out there so most likely I'm used to it. Still think shooting in Saints Row and Sleeping Dogs is tad better but GTA V is a big improvement over IV.

I finally finished my first heist - the mission design is top notch, that was so much fun!

That first Trevor mission.... 8O

I love the call backs to GTA IV and the expansions.

Have you played Saints Row? They overlay waypoint icons into the world itself - so while you can see on the map you need to turn left you also see a massive flashing arrow pointing left in the world. I think that's much easier to navigate but I think Rockstar didn't steal that idea for fear of affecting the sense of immersion. While I find after a few hours in a GTA game I can just take one look at the map and get a general sense of where to go, something in between the two aforementioned extremes would have been nice.

You can view latest help text (and dialogue) by pausing game and going into menu.
