I'm with Spooky on this one. I can put up with a lot of crap in games, but the number of times that I lost to a guy despite an enormous and clear-cut tactical advantage just got to be too much. I'm beyond caring whether it's me, the engine, something to do with connection quality...doesn't matter. I'm out.Spooky wrote:Welcome to my frustration of the last 5 years worth of CoD games.Naples39 wrote:Is this game faster than it used to be? It just feels so quick to me. If a good player comes barreling around a corner, they will drop you so fast I was constantly like "WTF?!" last night. I don't remember it being that way in MW1 and 2 (provided you knew someone was coming and had them dead to rights), or maybe I am getting rusty.

Hmmm. Having spent roughly equal time online with this and Halo 4, I'm actually enjoying Halo more. This feels very strange to me.RobVarak wrote:I'm with Spooky on this one. That, taken out of this thread's content, is really a weird statement.MizzouRah wrote:I honestly just like playing a deathmatch against my daughter.

As for the game...I bought it...and it's sitting shrink wrapped on my desk and it hasn't moved. Not exactly sure why I haven't even had the urge to play it. Maybe I'll just return it next week for Hitman...because you know, I need another assassin based game to go along with AC3 and Dishonored.

Re: COD: Black Ops 2
Interesting that you said that because I was thinking about picking either this game up or Halo 4. I was waiting to hear the feedback around here as to which one might suit me more. I was hoping there would be a more drastic change in both titles but it doesn't appear to be the case. However, I think that DSP feedback has me leaning towards Halo 4 if either at this point.Naples39 wrote:Hmmm. It's still early and I'm feeling out the games and modes.
I've always preferred real guns and feet on the ground, as compared to Halo and its vehicles and weapon-spawning. But the BO2 rounds I've played so far have been so fast and frantic with so much insta-death being doled out by players who recklessly charge into the sights of other players, yet outdraw them.
With a Halo loadout of the battle rifle thus far I've actually been able to manage my engagement distances and kill the kamikaze fools.

The battle rifle is my go-to, as well. Very effective against kamikazes.

I actually enjoyed playing MW3 with my son online via split screen.
We played BO2 last night and I really didn't like it. The pace does seem faster to me and chaos seemed to rule the air. It was not fun at all and feels like a downgrade to me
From MW3.

I've been reading a few things about setting your search preferences to "Best" on the multiplayer match game screen greatly decreasing some of those "WTF?" type of encounters that COD is so well known for. This guy lays it out pretty well in a Youtube vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sTbiVMnDdY&feature=plcp

Re: COD: Black Ops 2
There's no way this game is faster than MW2 or MW3. I agree it's a bit faster than BLOPS, but I am experiencing about 75% less kill streak award chaos than I did with MW3; which always seemed like a constant barrage of s*** raining down from the sky.FifaInspected wrote:Naples39 wrote:It's still early and I'm feeling out the games and modes.

I move around the maps slowly, and with purpose, and seem to do ok. Not great, but good enough to enjoy the game. My KDR is certainly higher tan in MoH, which I also really enjoy. BF3, MoH & BLOPS all different enough to keep the genre fresh on a rotational basis for me.

Re: COD: Black Ops 2
Using this "Best" game search, I did have a lot fewer WTF moments last night. There is also less killstreak mayhem, but the number of disruptive killstreaks and the speed of players running and gunning are separate issues. Maybe it's just that everyone is using lightweight, but it still feels fast to me. (I gave up on MW3 pretty quickly, mostly due to crap MP maps, FWIW)

Re: COD: Black Ops 2
Jeff Gerstman on the Giantbombcast had some pretty good things to say about the single-player campaign with regards to player choice and the multiple endings. Nothing mind-blowing but still sounded a lot better than the average AAA FPS campaign.
I know it's not in many people's rotation anymore but I still think Battlefield 3 is awesome when it comes to multiplayer. The 'Close Quarters' expansion pack was an unfortunate mis-step as they tried to do a COD but the other expansions are awesome. Armored Kill is fantastic and what I love is that you can still get points and contribute even if you're not a killing machine. I only play Conquest so I can't speak to Rush.
LOL I feel the exact same way - not so much the last 5 years but definitely in MW3 and the original Black Ops.Spooky wrote:Welcome to my frustration of the last 5 years worth of CoD games.Naples39 wrote:Is this game faster than it used to be? Re: COD: Black Ops 2
I'm also seriously thinking about a return to BF3 through that deal. I probably abandoned it too soon for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, which was a disappointing game for me.
BF3 is easily the best multiplayer shooter I've enjoyed in my year with the 360.
Then again, I may try MoH: Warfighter for something new. Decisions, decisions ...

Re: COD: Black Ops 2
You got it. I play BF3 a good 3-4 times a week still a year after release. Armored Kill is brilliant and I can't wait for Aftermath to hit in a week or so (PS3 at least).Macca00 wrote: I know it's not in many people's rotation anymore but I still think Battlefield 3 is awesome when it comes to multiplayer. Medal of Honor is a ton of fun, I'm actually surprised that I'm enjoying Black Ops 2 a bit, but nothing comes close to Battlefield 3 in my opinion.
Re: COD: Black Ops 2
I still own and play BF3 a bit. But I can't help but feel so removed most of the time in that game. It's probably because it's SO huge and the teams are so large, yet I connect with absolutely no one. At least in GR:FS I end up chatting with my crew the majority of time. And with MoH, I don't necessarily chat with anyone, but being paired up with a fire teammate seems to provide more of a connection for me.

Tip for the Nuketown haters; I sold my DL code for this map for $13 on eBay last night. Between this and the MS store preorder deal, I can almost convince myself I only paid $17 for this game.
I have also decided that unaimed SMG fire is far more effective in this game than in MW. I've never been an SMG guy in COD, but my best rounds in this game are just running around with an SMG barely looking down the sights.

I'm an assault rifle kind of guy who camps and moves from point to point slowly and with purpose. I carry a bouncing betty & shock charge in all of my loadouts. I place the betty behind me and always have the shock charge out in front. Once in my spot with the perimeter secure, I pick off all the smg guys runnin 'n gunnin'
