I stuck with Revolution for 2 1/2 episodes since the story interested me. But I could not get past the bad acting and writing.

You didn't like the part where the militia commander mindlessly sacrifices dozens of men, or where Miles has the brilliant plan of digging a tunnel of indefinite length with no tools in a day or so?

Wait. So in a show where all the power in the world goes out but a magical pendant is like a Duracell battery that turns on everything it gets near and your issue is the dug a tunnel in the dirt? Picky..picky :)

Personally I liked the undefined killer storms from last episode. Like hello why is everyone afraid of a thunderstorm?

Done with Revolution. Bad, bad, bad acting. A shame because I really liked the idea.

The League season premiere was also pretty lousy. Hate when they go nuts with guest stars.

Well, I spoke too soon about new network dramas sucking like Hoover-matics this season. I watched the season premier of "Nashville" last night, and it was juicy and delicious.

"Nashville" is a return to trashy, nighttime soaps like "Dallas" and "Dynasty," which I loved. Great characterization, back-stabbing, intrigue. Pretty well-written by network standards. And Powers Boothe's performance as the corrupt father of the legendary country music star played by Connie Britton was delightful.

Plus this show features Connie Britton in all of her MILFy glory and Hayden Panettiere busting out of various dresses and trying to bang nearly every guy involved in her band or management. Can't go wrong with that. :)

I gave up on Revolution after about 15 minutes. NBC is HORRIBLE with casting their shows.

Totally agree. Just a hilarious hour of trash, laughs and scenery chewing. Loved it!

I must be getting old fast as I've caught on to watching my wife's favorite drama, Parenthood. I've always been a fan of Craig T. Nelson and surprisingly, the rest of the cast is pretty likeable. This isn't a new show (possibly in it's 4th season), but it's got a good mix of drama and comedy. Not a huge fan of Ray Ramano, but he recently joined the cast. If you have kids, it's hard not to like this show.

I watched Parenthood for about a season and a half before I got tired of it.

Anybody see the new Walking Dead season? The first episode was pretty much non-stop action with little dialogue. A huge shift in approach.

We'll have to see if giving the fans what they want makes for a good season.

Brilliant episode, particularly the cold open, which was just awesome.

Didn't know if the show could live up to the hype and anticipation after reading this description but it did. Goodness Hayden looks good even though she looks like a teenager. Whoa.

For some reason I don't see the show lasting tho. Outside of the women the premise seems kinda stupid and boring. We will see I guess.

I agree I really liked it.

Except the part where Virgil got bitten. Not because I have a soft spot for old people or his character but the whole thing was just contrived. I mean all of the sudden the zombies are smart enough to play dead and then grab someones ankle with cat like movement and bite them.

I know that's a nitpick on a show about zombies but it kind of bugged me.

Homeland:

Danes and Lewis must have liked the feel of being up there on the Emmy stage. Their scenes together are crackling, and Danes is pretty much on another level now, I think.

Hard to control myself and keep spoiler-free after last night. :)

The writers are really swinging their cojones this year too. They must have liked the red carpet walk as well.

All I'll say is that the episode was a little more forward than I expected. Things happened quicker than I expected, and I'm really not sure where they go from here. It really could be any direction.

More to the point, do they have a show left if they get rid of Lewis' character?

They kind of put all their eggs into one basket. You imagine the CIA is handling multiple cases at a time.

MI-6 or Spooks moved among several types of terrorist and national security threats for several seasons, without stretching credulity or making your roll your eyes.

Totally agree, and one of the reasons why I mentioned the writers. Kinda risky move, there. That takes guts, as what was accelerated could have been something to last a whole season, guided by the traditions of normal serialized storytelling.

Right now, though, they still have my trust enough for me to follow them in whatever direction they go next.

I thought it was great. I literally couldn't believe how fast things were happening in that last 10 minutes. I'd rather they 'go for it' rather than stretch it out. The episode prior & the first half of last night's episode has me wondering if this show was taking a dive - then BAM!

Ballsy, ballsy move by the Showtime creative crew. Great episode. Where the hell does it go from here?

Damian Lewis is playing a wonderful role, but Claire Danes is acting circles around just about everyone on TV now except for Bryan Cranston. She's remarkable in this role.

American Horror Story is seriously f***ed up this season. Not ghost story, but rather a mash-up of Friday the 13th, Saw, and The Exorcist. It is creepy, violent, and surprisingly blatantly evil. Jessica Lange is now a nun that runs an asylum for the criminally insane where creepy experiments are the nature of the work.

It's cool, but not for the squeamish.

So the one positive of being evacuated and having no power thanks to Sandy is my in-laws have Showtime on Demand and I've been able to watch Homeland Season 2 and HOLY CRAP. That 10 minutes of Carrie and Brody in the interrogation room was some of the most riveting television I've ever watched. No idea what I'm gonna do when I have to return to my non-Showtime having home in a day or two! Looks like I might have to go back to my old days of the torrent.
