Has it been 10 years already?
Simmons on OJ, 10 years later:

Hope this thread doesn't degenerate into the usual, just wondering if you remember where you were when you heard the verdict. I was sitting in class (a criminal justice class, no less) at college when I heard the announcement.
Anyways, my favorite OJ moment: definitely watching the bronco chase live on tv, even though it came on while I was watching the nba finals.

Bronco chase happened the night of my best friend's bachelor party. It was a pretty low-key party, just went out to play pool and drink beer. We were watching the Knicks-Rockets when they broke in.
Verdict: I was working in publishing in New York. We heard the verdict was going to be announced, so about two dozen of us packed into a room with a TV to watch it. Couldn't believe it. I really thought, despite the prosecution's bungling, he was going to be convicted.
In fact, I think the only other event in my working life where everyone stopped what they were doing to watch the news was 9/11. The only other event in my life I can remember generating that much media attention for that long was the Iranian Hostage crisis. Not equating those events with OJ's trial, just saying that's how much of a grip the trial had on our interest.

Chase: Out at a bar with a buddy, eating wings over a pitcher of beer.
Verdict: At home, learning the true meaning of the term "getting away with murder."
Out,

You know Grog...you are asking for some major ridicule over the next couple years with that bowel thread. It's already starting...Brando70 wrote:No wonder you feel dirty on the insideGROGtheNailer wrote:You know, i watched that whole trial, I dont think I missed more than an hour of it.
Everyone who remembers the good times at SR, think: Siam sliding into third base right through a pile of dog s***.

Chase: At home trying to watch the NBA Finals
Verdict: At work. Me, the foster parent, and the children I worked with glued to the tv.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Chase: I didn't see it live. Still can't remember where I was.
Verdict: Took the first job out of college...collections. Also the worst job I ever had. I was in the lunch room surrounded by predominately african americans, and when the verdict came down they went crazy with celebration. Not much I could say except walk quietly away and mutter bulls**t under my breath.

Chase: At the beer garded at John Barleycorn in Chicago. Went in for a round of drinks and couldn't figure out why they were showing traffic reports on the projection TV...
Verdict: In the student lounge of my law school preparing for an exam. I don't think I've ever seen more lawyers in one place not speaking in my life.
