With the large widescreen tvs today, a zoomed out side camera view or top view that showed the entire rink on your screen without scrolling would be a great view to have as an option. It would be nice to have a single view to see where everyone is on the ice.

Just saw on NHL 13 FB page that they have some big news coming tomorrow. My guess is the demo release date.

sigh, as i'm on vacation next week. Hmmmm, maybe I can bring the 360 with me? ;)

I'm looking forward to this game now after swearing earlier this year it would be a "wait and see" after NHL 12.

I guess I'm just weak willed......

Just played 3 games of the demo and love the true broadcast view. That alone confirms purchase for me. It may not be a camera that most would use regularly, but it does a great job of recreating the TV experience.

Demo played very smooth.. no technical issues on the 360 version.

I can't speak to differences from last year as I never played 12. However it sure seems to play a good game of hockey.

Demo is great and the true broadcast camera angle makes it feel like a brand new game to me. Love that camera angle but it's gonna take me some time to get used to the reversed controls for it. All in all though, it's a day one purchase for me, of course it's been that way since August 3rd 1991.

Well put.. I was thinking the same thing about it feeling like a new game.

Well, it's finally nice to see that players can't cut and turn on a dime at high speed as the skating physics have subtle improvements. You can feel the players' turn have more weight in them as well as in their strides. In general it takes a couple of games to get used to the new skating. What I liked is the fact that you can now play the dump and chase style if it fits the momentum of your game. I just wished that my teammates were a bit smarter in reading my plays though, but at least the CPU's AI has definitely been improved. So angling properly and in a timely fashion has its rewards, finally.

For you goalies out there, the movement is very realistic and less robotic that previous years, some newer animations are great to watch.

I also liked the broadcast camera a lot although it's harder to adjust your controls. The CPU's passing is still too precise but if you bump it up to AS, there seems to be a lot of more loose pucks to be fighting for as the poke checking (another of my previous gripes) has improved as well.

Overall, I enjoyed the demo after a couple of games although to be honest I am getting a bit tired of the commentary with many recycled verses from previous years.

Please include a bit of hot sauce with the plate of crow I'm about to eat. If this demo is any indication, EA FINALLY has re-created hockey properly.

The AI in this year's game seems MILES better than in past years. Defensive players are in proper positions. Offensive players move correctly without the puck. AI-controlled teams dump-and-chase far more often.

Plus the default game speed is much slower, which is fantastic. No more stopping on a dime, either, as others have mentioned.

I'm VERY impressed.

I'm looking forward to trying this tonight, but have poked around some videos and comments in the meantime. Skaters definitely look lethargic changing direction, which is way overdue. For all the AI revamping, I did see some comments at OS that their computer controlled teammates are really bad, getting out of position and reacting to the puck slowly. I'll have to see about that.

It also wouldn't surprise me if puck physics are the ugly stepchild of this game. Haven't been improved in a while yet play a major role in shooting, passing, loose pucks...

That's what I meant when I mentioned that I wished my teammates were more proactive when I carry the puck. They just seem a step slow and when they get the puck the CPU's AI just reacts accordingly. Position wise the AI on the opposition team seems better already.

Camera wise, I am sticking to my custom 3 as I still prefer the up and down action compared to the nice broadcast one where I can't control the action as much.

Live moments is pretty cool. You can feel the tension of the match, especially when the game keeps going into OT.

I'm finding the opposite. My D men seem a step slow in the zone trying to retrieve pucks dumped into the corners by the AI. Then again, that's probably more realistic.

Very impressed with the positional AI in this demo. I'm guessing that most of the Monster-addled punks b*tching about positional AI at OS never have played hockey and think a breakout is a field of large red zits on their cheek.

You have to take OS with a massive grain of salt. Most of the posters are tools that don't get any sport they post on. There are some good hockey fans there that are good reads, but there are too few, and the whole 2K vs. EA things even screws some of them up.

That said, I enjoyed the hell out of the demo today. I thought it felt like a great upgrade in both skating and defensive AI. If you put it on Hardcore, it is a hell of a challenge.

It might fail the ultimate sim test, but it passes the ridiculously fun test for me.

Just an example of some dumbed out AI from my teammates on my last demo game. When I have a potential 2 on1, I expect the odd man rusher to go straight for the pass or be in a good enough position where he expects a quick pass from me, instead he seems to be shying away from the play. Ditto on the fight for loose pucks. Get your nose dirty!

But overall, the speed of the game as well as the skating physics is very realistic.

Just got a huge belly laugh outta that Teal!

As far as the game, wow, I had fun playing two games. The sense of momentum while skating really brings a sense of realism to the game. You cannot gamble on D anywhere near like you used to or you will get burned. I also love the sense of speed with guys that can move like Justin Williams. Jeff Carter's wrister is sweet. Back for more...

Holy s***...speed is huge in this game. Dumping and chasing is awesome. If you have some jets you can get by the defenders, get to the puck and create scoring opportunities. It's a b*tch to defend speedsters though!
