I tried downloading it via my Splinter Cell game. I say tried because I have no idea if it downloaded or not. I went through the process and started downloading. Once it started downloading I went back to the console main menu thinking I would just turn it off and let it dl in the background while the system was off. I double-checked and it did not show up in my download queue. I started it again and just left the game on while it downloaded and went to bed. It seemed to be going awfully slow as it took about 5 minutes to get to 2%. So who knows, it either finished downloading before the system auto turned off in 6 hours or I will have to do the process again tonight.

played a couple of hours this morning. I enjoyed what appeared to be a slower pace, that may change (and probably will) change a bit upon release. I too liked the cover system, but don't particularly like the unrealistic field of view provided by the 3rd person perspective.

I think this game's finest moments may be found playing the siege mode. Tensions will be high, teamwork mandatory, movement slow and tactical knowing that dying means you're out of the game.

If this version is anything like the old versions we should have some ability to customize our rooms. It may be nice to play without the invisible ghosts on occasion.

It's still very early but i'll give it "potential" in a world that includes COD and BF3.

Hate to burst your bubble but the devs had said that the only thing customizable in private matches is the length of the round. A lot of the guys I play shooters with were hoping for what you wanted as well. What is shocking is that in EVERY GR game there has been full customization for private matches and now they just take it away.

They'll just put it out as DLC and charge us for it. EA style...

Seriously, after all the complaining about not having private matches in BF3, this one gives private matches...

I got in one game last night and was halfway in and the server went down.

Color me confused I had no idea what was going on or what I was suppose to do. I didn't see any invisible guys or anything like that.

They can't run around invisible. It's only the scouts, and they can't be cloaked unless they stay still, or move really slowly. They uncloak when the fire, and they're pretty easy to see even when they're cloaked. I've shot more cloaked guys than anything else, because they think they're 'invisible', and will walk right up to you...doofs. I've only been taken down by one cloaked scout at close range. The cloaking is not the scoring boon some people think it will be.

This game is going to absolutely require teamwork, strategy, communication. I can play with a team of randoms, but don't like to. I will try to set up a private room early next week, if not sooner, and invite you cats. As I see it, there's room for four teams of four. If all of them can be private, that will be awesome.

As far as the beta gametype, it's 'objective based deathmatch'. There are several different objectives within a round, one at a time. Once an objective has been won (or lost), another becomes available. They are everything from capturing and holding an ammo stash (which will allow you unlimited rearming while holding it, to planting C4 at another site and protecting it until it blows up, to capturing data from a point, to holding off enemies while an EMP bomb counts down. If the EMP goes off, the non-holding squad will lose all of their HUD and map data. Really cool stuff.

(Sigh) It's based on currently pursued tech, all of it. The previous 360 GR's had this sort of 'tagging' feature, too. The military is working on helmets and glasses with HUD's based on GPS and things like grenades that don't damage, but reveal. Also, the 'red dudes' are being revealed by the UAV, and that relays their location by painting them...red. EMP grenades are a counter to the UAV indicators.

Guys, we all know it's not GR:Island Thunder. We know. What's there, though, feels like a really good game in its' own right. We can play Battlefield 1943 any time any of you want to, if that's what you want. Just download it and let me know. However, I've played this beta quite a bit, and I, for one, am pleased with the possibilities. It's one, however, that, if we can't get enough participation to play as squads, won't be worth squat. That's both the beauty and the damnation of it...especially if people are gonna poop on it just because it's not stuck in the early 90's...

(Sigh) :D In a sense, if you mean the MAV tags from the air and you can see where they tag. But get ready, because you DO have some degree of xray 'vision' according to some videos I've seen. It's not unlike the feature that was in 'Splinter Cell'.

I don't understand all the bitching. The game is called FUTURE Solider. It's got possible weapons that might be on the battlefield someday. If anything I have been impressed with the cover system and team work needed to play. No one is running around full tilt firing like crazy as if this were COD. The fact that they can be seen easily due to any number of detection methods makes moving slow and working with at least one other guy a necessity.

To each their own I guess but I am really impressed with the demo.

So, how's everyone feeling about this one, that have spent some time with the beta? I'm loving it, myself. I've gotten hooked on the engineer class; there are many matches where I don't fire a shot, but rather find a good defensible spot and toss the UAV up for my teammates the whole round. I also spend most of my time in the 'single bomb/carry to a spot and detonate' mode. It's great to be able to fly the UAV and spot the bomb carrier for the team, provided someone doesn't shoot it down or toss an EMP grenade in my area.

I'm really looking forward to this game the more I play it. The level of teamwork and strategy is better than anything I've played recently.
