Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

Post by Teal »

I had my doubts about all this 'futuristicky' stuff with GR, but this looks very promising. Four player co-op in the campaign, and the full MP slate. The high tech stuff seems to be minimalized, which is good:

Remember the good old days when you could do 16 player co-op.

Looks badass! Coop sounds awesome. I've been so into the new sports games I forget how much gratification a good shooter brings. I'll always have fond memories of the original GR on the original Xbox. Fn LOVED that game. Online was the s***.

I've had my eye on this one for while now. GR1 and 2 are among my favorite shooters. Coop was an absolute blast. Future Soldier is looking incredible and a day-one purchase without a doubt.

Sorry, but the ability to be an "invisible soldier" is bullsh*t. A cheap gimmick. Players can use perfect tactics and do everything right and still be killed from close range by some dude with "invisible powers?" Is this a DC Marvel Comics game or a military game?

I'll buy this game because it will be an XBL hit at DSP. But Ubisoft and the Clancy franchise should be better and more creative than this.

It's all based upon tech that is currently being pursued, so it's not out of the realm of possibility...hence, 'future soldier'. It's not complete invisibility, it's more of an opaque thing, and, as I understand it, the invisibility really only works if you're stock still, or moving extremely slowly. From gameplay videos I've seen, it's not a complete camoflauge by any stretch. The focus on teamwork and realism (at least in the realm of what the military is looking at for the future, and, if you've seen Act of Valor, pretty much everything but the cloaks are already in use-amazing) is what is gonna drive this sucker.

I hope so, because traditional game combat is enough to excite me. If I wanted Splinter Cell-like stealth, I'd play Splinter Cell. :)

If you read the ign article, it pretty much says that the game is damned near impossible without communication and teamwork. That's almost enough for me right there! :D

You can become invisible? Awesome. I hope they counter that by allowing the dwarf characters to use some sort of force push power.

I am not a fan of the "abilities" they are giving out. I am also not a fan of the 3pv. All this allows for is people to hide behind cover, pop out for a quick kill then go back into cover. I could tolerate the 3pv much more if when in cover the screen comes right up on you not giving you the entire view of the battlefield.

It's called the Warwick Davis mode. :)

any of you PS3 people with PSN+ play the beta yet? I've downloaded the Beta for the 360 through my Splinter Cell game and am looking forward to checking this out tomorrow.
