Danimal's limited to 4 days for weekly tournaments. It's set by default when he selects the tournament type.

Great idea! I wasn't thinking about that. Do you know if you can do that for online tourneys, though, or is that just offline?

If that works, that is likely how I'll do it too.

Why can't I play in the Club Pro or Club Champion invitationals? Says I'm ineligible for some reason.

Really strange day for me with the game today. I downloaded Blackwolf Run with coins for a 1 day rental in order to play today's DSP daily. I was +5 for the round after 3 putting four greens, leaving every approach shot in the 100 to 40 yard range from 50 to 75% short of the desired distance. I also missed four birdie putts of 10 to 5 feet (slow green speeds give my Precision Putting Recovery Method a fit). Oh, I hit all the fairways in today's round. It just goes to show that this game makes up for its weaknesses off the tee, from 100 yards and in. BTW, Congrats to Tim for his 8 under par round in today's Daily.

I'm getting to the point where I'm about ready to set up so that I never have an approach in the 100 to 40 yard range henceforth. They are the most terrifying shot in the game to me, and I'm not getting any better at them  I need to spend some of my day off Wednesday night at the practice facility trying to figure out this phase of the game.

Another thing that's got me perplexed is my driving game. My player is now at 88 power and I'm using the Collector's Edition driver which is rated at 90. My best drive at Blackwolf was 285 yards, but most of them were in the 245 to 255 yard range. I've yet to see anything other than "slow" tempo in the full version of the game. I saw perfect a couple of times in the demo.

This is one of the most strangely compelling games I've ever played

You have to be ranked near the top of our club. Check the club stats next time you are online, you'll see we're separated into various levels based on status and coin earnings, I believe.

I'll handle that Danimal. I'm open to suggestions for this Saturday and Sunday guys. FWIW, it cost me 6000 game coins to rent Blackwolf Run for today's Daily. Once everyone builds up some coinage, we can probably do more of the DLC courses in Dailies. I'm not buying any DLC until my CAG is built up more.
Weds Night is club night. Starting at 9pm CDT. If you're so inclined meet up in a Live Party and in the Club House. I was thinking we could go out in two's and take on other clubs.
That will work out great for me for the next two weeks!

Those tournaments are by invitation only for Club Pro's & Club Champions; which are determined each week.

I took at run at round 1 today and didn't really represent DSP well. I shot a -3 while the leader through 1 round was around -18. I didn't submit my scorecard as we're allowed two entries prior to submitting your scorecard if you want. I figured I can't do much worse than a -3, now I just need to cross my fingers that my internet doesn't go outduring my 2nd attempt at round 1.

These tournaments are setup so that you can use post shot spin, power ups, etc. Drives me nuts, but I see why they do it this way. If you play a lot of the daily tournaments you'll see several hundred entries in the Amateur difficulty events and only around 50 or so entries in the Tournament difficulty events. Is a shame, but it's also reality. :(

Ah..that makes sense now. I wondered why the invitationals were set to Pro difficulty.

Also, are we going to try to do the in-club head to head matches too? I think I saw that as a silver objective (25 total matches) or did I read that wrong?

For those mid-range shots, definitely hit the practice facility. Practically speaking, there's a magic tempo you need to find. Once you find that magic tempo, the distance of your aiming marker will take care of the rest. It is tough sometimes, and on par 5s yesterday I was hitting my second shot with a 8 iron so my approach to the green would be at least 120 yards so I can just hit a wedge full power.

Regarding driving, you should be hitting it much farther. My golfer is around 63 power I think, and all things being equal (flat, no wind, normal roll), I expect my drives to go 275-280. You have to swing faster probably, meaning less of a pause on backswing, and sharper thrust forward. Ignore the 'slow' tempo rating--I've never gotten a perfect tempo, and I get a fast tempo off the tee about once every 25 tee shots. You can still get 100% power shots when the analyzer says slow tempo.

Nice man! I'm looking forward to getting home this evening after the workout, kid's soccer practice, dinner, wife time, then finally the daily tourney. :)

Danimal I have a request. Would you mind allowing us to enter the tourney twice and only 1 submission of scorecards. I only ask because my internet has been so sketchy lately that I get booted without warning and when that happens I'm pretty much assed out of participating in the daily. I understand why you have it the way you do so if you don't want to change it I understand completely. Just thought I'd ask.

I looked into getting the DLC courses with my earned coins today. I was pleasantly surprised to see than PS3 users can just outright buy each course for 18,000 coins without the need to rent and satisfy course objectives. Or you can get two course packs for 150,000 and 90,000 coins respectively, which comes out to 15,000 coins per course if you buy them in groups. By the time I tire of the included courses I should have more than enough coins to buy everything, so that will be cool.

BTW, I agree with the person who said there should be more people allowed in each Country Club. It would make tournaments a lot more fun. We have 25 members in my Country Club, but not everyone can play in the daily tournaments, so having more spaces for members would help that kind of thing out a lot.

Damn. Unless I am missing it, there is no such ability on XBOX. 6k for 1 round, 9k for 2, 12k for 3.

I had assumed it was the same on the PS3 until I read something from someone bitching about the PS3 IGN review that got that part wrong about the PS3 version of the game. I was kind of ready for grinding out the free courses by renting/mastering, so I was excited when I saw that we can just outright buy them.

I can start doing that for next week. I can't go back and change anything that was setup for this week.

I'd prefer not to do it for the weekly.

Just finished the daily with a -3. Putting was better for me with the grids on, struggled a bit with the short game.

Finished the daily at -5, which includes a bogey on 18. :(

My putting was impeccable today as I had zero 3 putts, a bunch of 1 putts and at least 3 long putts (one of which was for eagle). Almost sank a 27 footer on 18 to save par, which was actually the worse position I was in for par or better all round. I lost concentration on my approach and forgot I was only about 50 yards out and jacked it well past the pin.

Great fun!

One other thing I'm interested in regarding the created player is the individual attribute caps. Can you still max out a created player to where they shoot unrealistic scores? I hate the fact that we've had to self-impose a cap in previous versions just to keep things realistic.
Max is 510 attribute points no matter how you distribute them. Consider there are 6 categories, you would have to have 100's on all six to max out. The limit of 510 will put you near some of the Pro golfer attributes. So I don't think you will see any ridiculous scores on a consistent basis.

Nice going Teal!

My hat is off to Orthostud....he posted a -9 and looks like he will win this one. I had it to -9 at 13, but hit two drives in the water when I should have played it safe....nice score Ortho and the rest of you!

Guys I thought about starting a new thread as I didn't want this getting lost in the large Tiger Woods thread. However without clearing it with Scoop or Jared didn't feel right about it.

I've decided to run a DSP Cup, sort of like the Fed Ex Cup but then nothing like it. I'm going to keep a running total of our events through the year. How you place is going to earn you some points. The winner at the end of the year will get the following:

Image
If you don't like the above too bad I already ordered it.

Please read below for rules. This is only open to members of our country club. I am really sorry for anyone not in the club but this is going to be a major PIA for me anyway the way the website is set up. When club members leave other can join.

First book mark this site as it list all the TW courses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Wood ... 13#Courses

DSP Cup Rules
1. Members will earn points for weekly events only.
2. The top 10 finishers will earn points on placements. 10 points for first, 9 for second etc.
2a. If you win an event the best you can place in the next event is 4th. (This is to keep things fair and competitive through the year, some of the players are much better then others.)
3. We will have 4 majors, starting with this weeks Augusta. These events will be worth extra bonus points for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place golfers. Extra Points being 8 for 1st, 5 for 2nd and 3 for 3rd.
4. You must complete 5 weekly events to qualify for end of year prize. If you don't have a course you can skip that week or rent it with your coins.
5. You must use your CAG golfers, this has to be on the honor system. DSP is the only site we could even hope to do this without douchebags cheating, please keep it that way.

If you don't want to participate you can stay in the club just let me know in this thread you don't want it so I don't give you points. Let me stress YOU DO NOT NEED TO SAY YOU WANT IN. IF YOU'RE IN THE CLUB YOU'RE IN. I'm sorry to sound so condescending but those of you in my Madden league know why I need to spell this out clearly.

The schedule of events is below, it's going to be a long season. Again the link above will let you know if you need to buy a course, rent it or whatever. You don't need to play in every event.

Augusta National - Masters 1ST MAJOR
East Lake
Liberty National
TPC at Scottsdale
The Old White TPC
Bethpage Black - US Open 2nd MAJOR
Pebble Beach
Oakmont
Royal Birkdale
Celtic Manor
St Andrews - Open 3rd MAJOR
TPC Sawgrass
Whistling Straights
Tory Pines
Spy Glass Hill
Valhalla - PGA Championship 4th MAJOR

If anyone has a serious problem with me running this let me know and I will start a separate country club for people who want to play. That seems pointless but I full expect someone to be unhappy with something I forgot. I'm just trying to do something fun for the community if you don't care for it that's fine but please try and be nice about it :)

I'd love to keep this in it's own thread but Jared or Scoop would need to clear it. It is not my intention to make their life harder or divert discussion out of the main TW thread. I just think having the rules in a first post and then a thread for updated points standings might be easier.

EDIT: BTW Rule 2a is open for discussion. I want to keep it fair and competitive so I am open for better suggestions.

Awesome stuff Dan. I am currently downloading the 11 course pack ( I caved :)). Looking forward to playing in some of these. I'll be heading into today's daily once all the courses are downloaded. Not that I'm a threat to win but I shot my best round so far last night at Celtic Manor. Plus I can't let Teal shoot an even round and not do something about it!
