1 - How long does it typically take to play a game.
2 -Are there in-game saves?
3- Can you play minor leagues?
Thanks.

1: 45mins to an hour. Not sure if there is a "fast play" option llike The Show has.
2: Yes
3: ?? I can look at it when I get home if know one hasnt answered it for you by then.
Teal wrote:Y'know what? I have thoroughly enjoyed the last couple of iterations of 2K baseball, and I don't think I appreciate having my intelligence questioned for it. Db, you love The Show. I think we all get that by now-you're a house organ for it. Fantastic. I don't care which one you prefer; why do you seem to care if some of us prefer something different? Is it such a big deal that you'll resort to making crazy accusations that you can't prove, and questioning the judgment of those of us who'd rather play 2K12? Truth is, I find The Show to be incredibly boring. Yes, it's 'purdy', and doesn't have some of the hiccups graphically and whatever, but it's just not my cup of tea. So can we cut out the fanboying, or at least tone it down a bit? It doesn't serve much of a purpose.
Funny...I'm the last person who you can call a "fanboy"...as I am the first person to switch sides and jump the fence if a product is better. But when people make claims that X game is better than Y game when they HAVE NOT played game Y...it bothers me. That's all. Call it fanboyism if you wish, but that's not it at all.
I have both games...I've played both games. Yes, I can definitely see how some find the show boring. If extremely accurate baseball on the field, stances/motions for nearly every player and ultra realism isn't your thing...then yeah, 2k can compete. But I will not apologize for questioning those who haven't played 12 and 2k12. They can like 2k12 all they want...but saying 2k12 is better than the Show without playing both is the epitome of fanboy. Blind loyalty.
I don't think anyone has said 2K12 is better than MLB 12: The Show, unless I missed it. I did see some users state that they were having more fun with 2K12, or that they enjoyed the pitching model better, or that the presentation and commentary were better / more interesting to listen to.
The Show is great and it will be my longterm baseball solution again this season. However, I can see where taking a break from it and enjoying a little 2K will come in. The MLB Today feature seems really cool to me.
Basically it comes down to this for me. If 2K12 didn't look like complete and utter ass I'd probably play it more than The Show, if not for the sole reason that I've been playing Sony's offering almost exclusively dating back to the PS2. Even after this current generation of systems launched, I was playing the Sony's baseball game on the PS2 because I couldn't stand the 2K's game on my shiny brand new XBOX 360.
No it's not. It's simply a preference. A preference you don't share. Fine and dandy. I have a Nissan truck. I don't have to drive a Toyota truck to know that I like my Nissan just fine. And I don't think a bunch of back and forth between Nissan and Toyota truck owners about 'which is best' is useful. I like Need for Speed. I understand that Forza is more realistic, but I'd rather play Need for Speed, and no amount of bellyaching is going to change that. You seem to have been given a hammer, and think that the whole world is a nail. I prefer homemade wine over the expensive stuff. So what? What difference does it make, to you, that I prefer something you don't?
BTW, I think this whole debate demonstrates the overall improvement in the state of video game baseball. It doesn't seem too long ago that we were having to upgrade rosters and such to continue enjoying MVP 2005 because every new game on the market pretty much sucked.

Debate on the internet about games is what it's there for no? And when people make statements that so and so game does THIS better than another game that they HAVE NOT played, it's annoying. You were not the person who did made the statements, so I'm not quite sure why you keep defending it, but I'm up for a good debate anytime.
And I'm with Wilk...it's good that we CAN debate it.
Well DB, since you quoted my post to say that I proved your point about people liking 2K12 without playing The Show, feel free to find exactly where you got that information.

Go ahead, we'll wait.
Gurantsu wrote:Considering I've gotten both for the last three years and this year decided to get only 2k12 I guess I know which game I like better on the field.
Well...interesting huh? You got both the last three years, but ONLY got 2k12 this year.
Oh I get it. You only have actually played it if you shell out the cash for it. Well I have played it, it felt like last year, and I'm not buying it this year.
But hey continue with your half assed assumptions. We never have to wait too long for those.
Sorry to rest of you guys, I'm done feeding the trolls.
Seems like a fairly good assumption since you f*cking said it. At least you're done w/ me...since you've went out of your way to put your foot in your own mouth. It's good going out on the bottom.
But I'll step out of this thread since the game is a fan favorite and I offer nothing constructive. Since obviously you guys don't want input from guys with BOTH games in his possession. Carry on.
I played this some more at lunch today and more power to you guys who like it but it's pretty clear to me it's not for me.
I don't know what happened to 2K but next year all they will be left with is their NBA game. I just can't see how they will renew the license which means it's going to suck for Xbox only owners when they don't have a baseball game.

I just finished an AMAZING game online. I lost the game on a two-run homer by Jason Werth in the bottom of the 13th. i had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the 13th when I scored on a hit and run from first.
It was a pitcher's duel, but I was throwing Wainright for the Cardinals against Strasburg for the Nats.
MOST IMPORTANT: There was not one single moment of lag or choppiness. The game was butter. Better yet, I could easily take or swing at pitches based on location. It was perfect.
I outhit my opponent 13-11. I had 8 singles and 5 doubles. My opponent had 5 singles, 4 doubles, 1 triple, and the bomb.
He committed 3 errors, I committed zero.
I threw 113 pitches, of which he only took 9 for called bals.
He threw 156 pitches, of which I took 32 for called balls.
If he swung less, would have drawn walks. Same for me. But most importantly, it felt like a good fair game. My strike % was .920 to his .788, but that was because he was a pretty free swinger.
He struck out 13 times to my 15.
These aren't sim quality stats. But part of that is just getting used to playing online baseball where it is not cheese to throw out of the zone. when I swung at a pitch in the dirt, it felt like I got fooled, not ripped off.
But seriously, not one hiccup. I know that 2K took servers down for awhile the other day. I don't know if they fixed anything that caused all of the lagginess and stutters i saw before.
Oh, and the Clutch Moment animation of Werth's HR to win the game was awesome, even if it was awesomely depressing for me. I had two out and two strikes on Werth. One more to win the game.

Will get back to it tonight...
The save game is cool. But there does seem to be a glitch that affects your pitcher's stamina. When you re-tart, it doesn't go down. So, yeah, good ol' 2K still finds a way to bug things up.

It was a night game and was cool seeing the office buildings behind Busch light up like people were still hard at work.
I think the game looks great actually.. it's very vibrant. Pitching is great and hitting, like The Show is fun using analog. I honestly don't think the commentary is head and shoulders above The Show, but definitely better overall.
The one thing I'm really happy about is there were no glitches or anything unusual in my game. It played a good game of baseball and for now, I'll alternate between both games.
The crappy thing with the living season during Spring Training is that it always defaults to the same pitcher, I guess for the same reason injured guys are on the rosters; nothing has been finalized yet. Once the season starts we'll see how it plays out.
Just go into the normal MLB Today mode, and it lets you change pitchers like it did last year. I think MLB Today Season is locked because they want to use it as a leaderboard mode So everyone has to use the same pitchers. But since MLB Today Season doesn't track, you are better off just using normal MLB Today mode.
I think they just have a harder time establishing starting pitchers in spring training. The game probably gets them from an RSS feed that doesn't update until the season starts.
You guys were right about the online play. It is great! Can easily judge between balls and strikes, it is just like playing single player. Have played a few games so far and all were fun.

I can certainly see how this game could be a decent substitute for The Show, but wow, such a contrast of games. As a PS3 owner, I could NEVER play 2K12 solely over The Show. However, there are some positives to be had:
+ Fielding is great fun in 2K12, although I've seen several instances in the outfield where you feel as if you are posititioned under the ball the outfielder makes a crazy catch to save it from hitting the ground.
+ Pitching is indeed challenging and enjoyable, but I disagree whole heartedly with how they are trying to implement it regarding the different pitches you have to throw. If I'm having success with my fastball, don't penalize me because I want to throw it three or four times in a row.
+ I'm seeing quite a bit variety of hits.
+ Commentary is stellar. Love it!
- It seems to easy to make contact with the ball. I was able to press up on the analog stick and more times than not, make contact.
- The player models are unforgiveably bad! Seriously, this is suppose to be a next gen game and it has last gen player models. They look really really poor and many of them have generic faces.
- The players move a bit too robotic and unnatural IMO, especially in warm ups.
- There seems to be a slight framerate stutter after the ball is put in to play, although it's not terrible.
- While I enjoy 2K12's pitching, the ball has this feeling of floatiness that looks strange. The series has always had this and it just irritates me. Just a nit pick!
- Why in the world do they decide to use the 2K Basketball music? Not a fan of this at all!
- The 2K series has been known to play the organ music throughout the game and game play, and this year is no exception. Ugh!
- As stated, commentary is great, however they will not continue with what they were saying once the ball is put in to play. Kinda strange.
- No practice swingss, or am I mistaken?
- Hurry Up mode doesn't move as quickly as I'd like. I much prefer Fast Play in The Show.
All in all, a pretty enjoyable game can be had, but I think it's time for EA or a new developer to come in and bring new life and competition to the baseball genre. Personally, it's three strkes and 2K is OUT!
Played some more.. is it me, or do the fielders feel like they are running in mud? I've seen balls where my infielder should have made a play, but they just take too long to get to the ball. Also saw some line shots where the fielder just stands there.
I'm much better hitting with MLB 2k12 than I am with The Show (analog). I also walked in a run, something I have never done in a baseball video game. I walk many more in MLB 2k12 than I do The Show.
Graphics are nowhere close to the Show, this includes ball parks.. but something about the gameplay still has me wanting to play some more games.
