I hope so. Actually, I'm not sure how much influence Snyder would have in those decisions anymore because Shanahan may well walk away just as Schottenheimer did if he tries to meddle too much. Plus it really was Vinny Cerrato who was the disaster, and though surely his special protected status with Snyder is what allowed that problem to metastasize the way it did, his removal and the hire of Allen do seem to have allowed the franchise to turn the corner.
But, being in the NFC East and being more of a fan of Eli than even most Giants fans for so many years, and knowing how much they gave up to get him (along with the understanding that Rivers is himself a really good QB we would die to have in DC), I am hoping the Skins do go all-in to get RGIII. It's been so long and so many bad, bad QBs since, well, since Theisman, really (OK Rypien had a few good years behind an insanely good OL that kept him upright), that not only are we desperate, but all indications are Griffin would fit perfectly with the Shanahans' offense, and so it's hard not to get excited about the possibility.
That said, if they fail in their bid for Griffin, first of all I hope they stay far, far away from Peyton Manning, because I am convinced he will play two or three games and then get hurt again and be done forever. I hope they would then trade down from six and stockpile more picks and get a few good lineman to protect what probably looks like Kyle Orton, fer crissake. I don't understand how this happens, but will we be getting Kordell Stewart next, too? What other Bears retread QBs will they try?
