Re: Battlefield 3
Once the DLC arrived last month the game suddenly, and very unexpected, became less fun. Maybe it was playing against too many people who just dominate. Maybe it was being terrorized by ace helicopter pilots.. I'm not sure. I guess I just need to hop back online and dive into some matches.
I'm suffering from the opposite footy disorder as Jimmy.. Suddenly i've realized how fun the footy games are this year

Re: Battlefield 3
Weirdo.
Re: Battlefield 3
After an initial Skyrim binge, I jumped back into BF 3 a lot the past week. I still really dig it. Occasionally there are teams who just destroy, but generally speaking I find even most random public matches come down to both teams having a few aces, a bunch of average players like myself, and people who are really bad. The quality of air cover has definitely increased, yet that also tends to apply to both teams. If I'm on a team getting dominated in the air, I switch to Stingers and at least harass the chopper pilots. Or just stay out of tanks if we can't get clear of air cover (I still find a lot of pilots aren't great at getting a fast jeep.)
I like the new maps better than some of the old ones. Davamand Peak and Tehran Highway have become pretty boring for me, as has a former favorite, Operation Firestorm. But I really like the three new urban maps because of the vertical aspects of the buildings and flags, and Wake Island, while linear, is visually appealing. Plus I love Caspian Border and have really come to enjoy Metro and Grand Bazaar after initially hating those.
It's very appealing to someone like me who wants a game with a lot of action but still requires a fair amount of strategy.

Re: Battlefield 3
They must have made some server side changes cause my brother in law and I were owning the opposition's vehicle support with the soflam and javelin combo a couple of nights ago. Seemed like the lock on times were faster. Killed a couple of fully loaded jeeps too - was great.

I didn't know this, but you can hop on an MAV and ride it like a jetpack:

Thats unbelievable, annoying, amazing, unrealistic. Hope it gets patched.
Re: Battlefield 3
It would be more annoying in MW3, but I'm happy with recon idiots taking themselves away from capturing flags so they can go 6-2 and masturbate to their kill/death ratio.Jimmydeicide wrote:Brando70 wrote:I didn't know this, but you can hop on an MAV and ride it like a jetpack:

Re: Battlefield 3
Anyone but a goober would find that exploit and report it so it could be fixed. Skyrim's nuttiness is one thing...that's solo. People who go out of their way to be dicks and douchebags in MP games get on my damned nerves.

Re: Battlefield 3
I thought riding the MAV was pretty well known by now. It's fairly cumbersome to do though, and is much more a sideshow than effective battle strategy. I just say what I said before; battlefield is all about the zaniness and unless it unbalances the game, I just roll with it. A lot of snipers get to perches by parachute too. *shrugs*
I'm still more concerned with choppers being repaired mid flight while skilled pilots fly those things inside buildings.

We brought down every chopper with one hit with the soflam javelin combo.Naples39 wrote:I'm still more concerned with choppers being repaired mid flight while skilled pilots fly those things inside buildings.

Re: Battlefield 3
Yes, choppers being repaired mid-flight absolutely must be eliminated. They must be required to land to repair, and if they incur so much damage that they are said to be crippled like the tanks and all other vehicles are, then they should fall from the sky, with a skilled pilot maybe being able to land it somewhat safely if they want to try it. The repair guys have to get out of tanks, jeeps, and all the other vehicles in the game; they should have to get out of a helicopter, too.

Yes, as does the CITV+guided shell in a tank, but they require a fair amount of coordination and equipment selections.TheTruth wrote:We brought down every chopper with one hit with the soflam javelin combo.Naples39 wrote:I'm still more concerned with choppers being repaired mid flight while skilled pilots fly those things inside buildings.
The mobile AA is also a chopper killer, but only appears in Noshahr and Wake on rush.

Well put Rob. I agree with nearly everything you said. I like all of the newBrando70 wrote:After an initial Skyrim binge, I jumped back into BF 3 a lot the past week. I still really dig it. Brando has become so witty and insightful that his posts are now mistaken for mine. I knew this day would come.

As Rob so eloquently put it a few posts ago, I haven't found choppers to be a problem unless I'm stuck on a team where no one can fly. They often tend to ignore any foot infantry as well, so even when the vehicles are getting pounded, we can cap flags. But then again, I play Conquest, where the only occasional balance issue I find is that some of the maps make it easy to spawn trap. Generally speaking I find myself having a good time with BF3 and not raging nearly as much as I used to in Black Ops.

Re: Battlefield 3
Anyone else having trouble connecting to EA's servers for BF3 or BF:BC2? I couldn't connect to either last night or this afternoon.
BF3 posted a prompt indicating the Back to Karkand pack was ready for me to download, when I already have it. The error code says I can't connect to the server and to check my XBL connection. My XBL connection is fine; I can connect to any non-EA game.
Screwy. Any tips are appreciated.

I got the same prompt last night PK but I got into a game no problem. FIFA and I got are asses kicked by some high ranking brass but it was fun nonetheless. I plan on playing tonight after the Sixers - Heat game. I'm up for BF3 or BDBC2pk500 wrote:Anyone else having trouble connecting to EA's servers for BF3 or BF:BC2? Re: Battlefield 3
I did a bit more research on the EA forums, which indicates this is a problem that randomly strikes EA game users. The fixes are a pain in the ass, ranging from calling EA to get a new code to switching Gamertags. It's going to be awhile until I'm back on either Battlefield game, I'm afraid, because of this bullsh*t.Diablo25 wrote:I got the same prompt last night PK but I got into a game no problem. Re: Battlefield 3
Played some last night, too, late. Got the DLC prompt, but had no trouble getting into a game. Man, the team I was on ROLLED. We absolutely smothered the other team several games in a row, with equal teams, and near-equal ranks. That was alot of fun.
I'll likely be up for some more BF3 tonight.
Hate to hear that, PK...give it another go before you throw in the towel. Calling EA to get another code doesn't sound like a huge deal, either.
