Not exactly the softest but he's got some flaws for sure. The biggest issue is that now he doesn't fit on the Knicks. Chandler is Stat without the jumper. Great pick and roll guy who gets in the lane and does damage. How exactly do you have two of those guys on the floor at the same time? Pretty sure one needs to go...D'Antoni isn't going to be able to play them effectively at the same time. It's just a horrible combination. Couple that with Carmelo and his ball stopping offensive game and you are the exact opposite of an effective D'Antoni offense. Tough times ahead for the Knicks...even with BDiddy coming back, still don't think there is going to be a way to make it work completely.
You're forgetting a big difference between Chandler and STAT: Chandler plays defense and gets more rebounds than those that fall into his hands.

Agree on your other points, though. STAT and Carmelo are ball-stoppers. Two dead ends don't work in a fast-paced offensive system. Plus the Knicks better pray multiple novenas that Davis is effective when healthy. Douglas isn't a capable starting NBA point guard, and Bibby is -- as you predicted -- horrible.

I heard some awesome stories about Stoudemire going up to the other team's Center before games and saying "hey, if you be 'cool', I'll be 'cool' and we'll both get our numbers tonight'. I think of that every time I see him play.

He should have had 40 points against the Lakers with Bynum suspended, but I barely noticed he was out there.

Those stories are quite true, tho virtually all players do it...I've heard it from former front office guys in Phoenix back when I had my connections. It's not only an Amare thing.

Watch highlights of last night's Bobcats-Knicks' game for more proof that Stoudemire is a terrible defender. He almost makes Carmelo look like a strong defensive player.

Boris Diaw ripped up STAT for 27 points last night. Boris Diaw. 'Nuff said.

Boris is legit. Or he was 5 years ago anyway...before he got fat. And no one said Stat was a good defender so it's not like you have to keep bringing it up. It's interesting to note that the Knicks are 16-22 since acquiring Melo. Not exactly tearing it up. Should have stuck with Stat only and picked up Paul or Deron Williams.

Only 9 games in but im pumped for tonight's Sixers Knicks game at the Garden. My Sixers are playing awesome ball right now. A statement win tonight would be superb. Sixers are fun to watch right now. Hopefully Spencer Hawes back issues are clear...we need him tonight.

Never knew Kobe had such animosity toward Nash.

You wonder if Kobe is going to become one of these guys in retirement who gets into fights on the golf course or pickup basketball because he can't find an outlet big enough to channel his insanely competitive nature.

The Mamba carries a bucket of hate, which is great when you're a professional athlete. It's not a very good characteristic when you're a private citizen.

If only I could see it. F*cking TimeWarner and f*cking MSG continue their pissing match to see which can plunge lower into the tar pits of greed.

I don't know why, he's had a blessed career, being able to play with some of the best centers in the league at the time and maybe in history.

He got to go to the franchise he wanted, he gets all the calls -- but cries incessantly when he doesn't get sent to the FT line for the 15th and 16th time in a game.

Maybe he's got OJ potential.

Crap like this from Kobe is what you get when you don't have Phil Jackson coaching.

Kobe knew better to spout sh1t like this out when Phil was coach. And Phil wouldn't have allowed it.

At the end of the season, I won't be surprised if this team is in shambles.

You are missing an ugly game. Sixers start Tony Batie at C...that hurts. Too many mistakes by the Sixers early. If this is the way the Knicks play they aren't going anywhere. Melo trying to do everything and hurting his team doing it. Stupid shots. Malik Rose (Sixers analyst) made an ironic point...he likes it when Melo is on the floor because ball movement stops and it all goes thru Melo...not D'antoni's system. No way the Sixers should have the game at 6 with 2:00 to go.

I can't believe the Sixers almost took the game from NY. Turnovers galore (by both teams), no Hawes, 3rd game in 3 nights and it was on the road in the Garden. Welcome to the 11/12 season.

Sixers at full strength whoop that Knick team.

Knicks aren't at full strength, either. No Baron Davis, and he will make a difference at point if he's healthy and playing well. The Knicks lack an effective point guard now.

Yes yes yes and yes. Kobe, like Jordan, will probably give one hell of a chap-ass hall of fame speech. You can bet on it!

Bill Simmons wrote a good column a while back about the differences in certain HoF-level NBA players and how they know when to retire. If I remember correctly, he said the guys who tend to have a life or interests outside of playing basketball (even if it's coaching or player management) tend to be the ones who get out before their skills completely erode. The guys who seem to be nothing but basketball players who stay until they are shadows of their former selves. I think he cited Kobe and Garnett as examples of the latter type.

Also reminds me how nice it is to have a player like Derrick Rose on the team I root for.

Ha, just happy he needed a night off when the Bulls played the Wizards. That team would struggle in the D-league.

When Andray Blatche is your team leader and moral compass, that's like trying to get directions from a GPS on acid.

It was a gift for the Bulls to get the Pistons, T-Wolves, and Wizards as their triple-header. I love their strong start, but they really need Noah to get better and Hamilton to get healthy once the schedule toughens up. Rose's toe injury doesn't sound serious but they will obviously be screwed if it turns into a lingering problem.

Nice early challenge for my Sixers tonight against the upstart Nuggets. Spencer Hawes is out again for another big game (missed Knicks game) so its gonna be a tough road tonight. Rookie Nick Vucevic gets his first NBA start tonight. He has been a surprise this year. Doug Collins gives him solid minutes every night (especially since the dog Mo Speights is gone). He is very active defensively, runs the floor very well and can shoot the 3. Hope he has a good one.
