Re: Game Of The Year 2011
Sports wise I've enjoyed a lot FIFA 12 as well as TW12 and NHL 12. For shooters, still playing MW3, BF3, Gears 3 and Rage. But if I must choose only one I am going to go with FIFA.
Re: Game Of The Year 2011
This was an excellent year for games making it a difficult choice, but my sports game of the year is Madden 12. I usually ditch Madden around the time NHL comes out but I'm still playing it. In addition to around 20 random games I also played the entire preseason (first time ever in a Madden game for me), regular season, and I'm about to play the AFC Championship with the Steelers at the Chargers. I played it on pretty much default All-Pro and had a lot of fun. My stats are reasonable (running was a little too easy) and there was only one WTF (but cool) moment. During my last regular season game at Cleveland I was down 12-10 with 20 seconds left and 3rd and ten with no timeouts left at my own 30. I threw a deep fly pass to Wallace who was at least 15 yards wide open and went 70 yards for the TD. It was big because a loss would have cost me the division and the first round bye. It was a very memorable season with a heartbreaking loss to NE, an almost remarkable comeback vs. Arizona, and a game winning 80 yard methodical TD drive at SF as time expired.
Honorable mention to Tiger Woods 12, iOOTP, FIFA, NHL, and NBA 2K12.
My non-sports game of the year is Skyrim with Rocksmith as runner-up.

Color me surprised with all the Madden praise. I might have to pick it up again, from what I remember.. don't all the games feel similar? Was there a patch released that maybe I missed out on?

I'm going to change my vote, I'll go w/ a 3 way tie now - NBA2K12 , FIFA12, Madden 12
Re: Game Of The Year 2011
Same here...After spending the last two days with Skyrim I am going to have to leapfrog it over Dark Souls. The depth is just too great and does for me at this time manage to over come the much better combat engine that DS employs.Lancer wrote:I'm going to change my vote,
My new order.
1) Skyrim
2) Dark Souls
3) Forza 4

Sports game: NBA 2k12.
Non-sports: Skyrim.
I will say that I have played more MLB 2k11 than anything. 2k did a great job this year.

Re: Game Of The Year 2011
There's no way my vote can count for anything since I've had a 360 for about three weeks and have played less than 10 games. But I'm mighty impressed with Battlefield 3. Enjoying that as much as any online shooter since Ghost Recon 2.
Sports-wise, I've only played the full versions of NHL 12 and Madden 12. Both are good fun and polished, complete packages. But they're evolutionary, not revolutionary. Probably too much to expect that from gaming franchises that have been around for two decades.
I played the FIFA 12 demo for the 360, and it's underwhelming. I imagine the retail version is much better. But my modded PC version of PES 2012 crushes the FIFA 12 demo in every nearly criteria.
