Btw...download the Dolphin for Pad Browser beta...absolutely awesome. Gets rid of a lot of the quirks with the built in browser.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
I'll give it a try but i'm not having any troubles with the default browser with the exception of I can't move and rearrange my bookmark tiles like in Opera.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Just found out that the Netflix app that was released for the android phones works on the Galaxy Tab. Don't even have to activate the device, just log into your account as if you were on the netflix website and play the video from there.

Get your Galaxy Tablet while you can.
Samsung gives in to Apple, delays Australian tablet launch
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/new ... let-launch
KOREAN ELECTRONICS GIANT "Samsung has bowed to pressure from rival Apple to delay the launch of its Galaxy tablet in Australia, suggesting that the legal battle between the two is going badly for the company.
The 10.1in version of the Galaxy Tab will not be sold in Australia at this time, according to Reuters, due to an agreement between Samsung and Apple.
The agreement appears to have followed an application by Apple to the Federal Court in Sydney to ban the importation, promotion or sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Austrlia without either Apple's or the court's permission.
Apple also requested that all samples of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 be sent to it so that they could be destroyed, according to court documents. It's not yet clear if Samsung has agreed to do this. We imagine that this would be a point of some contention between the two companies.
The move suggests that Samsung is not confident that the multiple lawsuits Apple has launched against it in Australia, the US and other territories will go in its favour. Apple claims that Samsung "slavishly" copied the designs of its Iphone and Ipad devices. Samsung has countersued."

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Anyone on here tried the Asus Transformer yet? I played with it briefly at a BB in NYC while we were there.
A friend in Halifax has one and swears by it (I believe it does HDMI out whereas the Tab doesn't?) and the keyboard dock seems like it could be useful..........
But I'm wondering if the Tab 10.1 will just blow it away, or if it's a close race.... (I don't think the Tab 10.1 is out, not here in Ottawa anyway yet)

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Tab does HDMI out with an adapter...has a keyboard dock and is half the size and weight of the transformer. The Tab 10.1 destroys it. Not even close in my opinion.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Thanks db. Guess I'll wait for the Tab (and the inevitable shortages that happen in Ottawa!)

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Just picked up a Dell Streak 7 for 200 bucks and it's a pretty nifty pad for those that don't want to pay double that for the 7" Galaxy Tab. I have to say I am surprised at the lack of quality sports games compared to what's on the iPhone. Can anyone recommend a few decent games besides Angry Birds?
Also, the HBO Go app seems to keep freezing. Is that a Android issue in general? Google mail and Dolphin browser work flawlessly and are pretty much what I mostly will use it for.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
I love Hockey Glow 2. It's like a neon table air hockey game. There's a tank game which is pretty cool. I downloaded a few baseball games, a couple of Sudoku puzzle games, drag racing is crazy fun. I also downloaded a soccer game which was fun. You kick the ball towards the net and try and hit points bullseyes for high score.JackB1 wrote:Just picked up a Dell Streak 7 for 200 bucks and it's a pretty nifty pad for those that don't want to pay double that for the 7" Galaxy Tab. My suggestion is to look at all the game categories and look for the TOP free games.
Read the reviews, they usually tell you if the game has issues or not. If you love Radio then Tunein is a must !
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Thanks for the tips. I'll check out some of those you mentioned. Reckless Racing is great on my iPhone, but it's 5 bucks in the Droid Market! Which baseball game was the best?Rodster wrote:I love Hockey Glow 2. It's like a neon table air hockey game. There's a tank game which is pretty cool. I wish I could get HBO Go to work!!! I knew the Android App market was behind the Apple one, but I didn't realize by how much

Jack, did you check if Dell would update the Streak to 3.1?
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Do u mean "Honeycomb'? I heard that they will make an update available soon.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Jack, did you check if Dell would update the Streak to 3.1?
For those that are more adventurous, you can root your phone and update it yourself though....

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
found some really fun games for my Android-Streak last night:
-Raging Thunder 2
-Tilt Arena (GREAT!)
-Reckless Racing Lite
-9 Innings Baseball 2011
-Pew Pew (like Geometry Wars)
-Radiant Lite
-Wave Blazer Lite
Really liking my Streak more and more......the 7" size is perfect for a reader and it's small enough to make texting easy.

That's one of the baseball games I tried and liked, just forgot the name. I'll checkout the others you listed. A buddy of mine told me about Jorte (calendar plus notes) which you can sync to Google calendar and i'll post the second one as I wrote it down but it's in my car.JackB1 wrote:found some really fun games for my Android-Streak last night:

9 Innings Baseball is great, but the AI almost never throws anything but strikes.Rodster wrote:That's one of the baseball games I tried and liked, just forgot the name. I just can't stop playing Tilt Arena. Anyone with an Android device should try it...it's quite addictive.
It's like a combo of Asteroids and Geometry Wars with tilt controls. Simple but FUN!

The new software update for the 10.1 is actually quite good. A few new enhancements to usability and a completely basses redesign of the browser make it worthwhile. Its a little more cartoony compared to stock honeycomb and the sci-fi look but overall not bad. Hopefully it doesn't slow down the updates like touchwizz does on Samsungs smartphone offerings. Time will tell.

Good news.. I'll have to check it out.dbdynsty25 wrote:The new software update for the 10.1 is actually quite good. didn't like Glow Hockey that much. The paddle control wasn't as smooth as it is with other air hockey games.Rodster wrote:I love Hockey Glow 2. It's like a neon table air hockey game. The one I played had you swiping the puck across the screen with your finger.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Here's a good tip:
http://www.androidcentral.com/honeycomb ... k-controls
Never noticed it in the default stock browser on the 10.1, but did notice it on the new updated browser, so not sure if it's on stock Honeycomb.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Saw the new HP 10" tablet over on woot.com on sale for $379!
that's a deal
Edit: just found one better....
http://www.slashgear.com/hp-touchpad-no ... -05169827/
You can get one at Staples this weekend for just $300! They are discounting them $100
and then there is the $100 off any tablet thingy for a whopping $200 in savings! I am tempted to
return my Dell Streak and for another $100 get a Touchpad.

Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
Good deal Jack but I think the HP Touchpad runs on WebOS IIRC. That's nowhere as popular as iOS or Android.
Re: OT: Android Tablet Thread
It does....that's a big negative IMO. But a quality 10" pad for 300 beans is nothing to sneeze at.Rodster wrote:Good deal Jack but I think the HP Touchpad runs on WebOS IIRC. That's nowhere as popular as iOS or Android.
However I do think I will stay put with my Dell Streak. I really like the 7" size....not too clunky to take anywhere
around the house or with you on the road. Perfect size for a reader also.
