Ease up, dude. I thought it was an interesting article, and raised some things I hadn't considered before. That's all.

We don't have to know everything right now; we've just been groomed to think we do. Keep it quiet, for pete's sake. I still think releasing the photo is the way to go; we're in a war with these cockroaches, and if something like that makes them show themselves a little, then great. Easy pickins.

And this is not political, but is an observation: This isn't the first time these guys have bungled their information process. They really do need a better system for the release of information.
The govt has been bungling intellegence for as long as I can remember...regardless of who's in the White House. It's something that
is very frustrating to us all for a long time. We pay their salaries and have a right to know everything factually. Will it ever happen? Doubtful.
Say what you will, but in the long run, I think the trove of intel our SEAL's gathered from Osama's Pakistani condo will save more American lives than killing Bin Laden. I'm glad the f*ck is gone, but the hard drives and files arguably were more important cargo on that helicopter than that cockroach's cooling carcass.

This operation is a winner-winner, chicken dinner mission. Osama is dead, and we have a sh*tload of intel about Al-Queda planning. A very proud moment for our military.

Personally, I feel that the less that is known about this operation outside of the government the better. I sure as hell don't want other countries to know how our military operates. We don't need to know how it happened or what exactly happened, we only need to know that it happened. Al Queda has confirmed this so why do need the details?

Yeah OK. The only thing it confirmed to me was the man they insulted, was the man they feared the most. Thanks for posting it.

I agree Paul. At this point the powers that be need to stop broadcasting that Intel to the press. Enough with the details already.

There is benefit to showing your cards sometimes, though. We obviously don't want to give away secrets, but at the same time information can cause reactions in the terrorists -- fear, paranoia, recklessness, caution -- that can be very helpful. No matter what they say, I'm sure a lot of AQ members are pretty shaken by this. Not enough to give up, of course, but enough to have emotional reactions that cloud their judgment and cause them to make mistakes. Letting out some details about the raid and especially the intelligence process -- how a lot of the info came from interrogations and native operatives -- could go a long way toward flushing them out or sowing distrust in the ranks.

There's also a psychological benefit for us in having confidence in our government, military, and intelligence systems. This won't make partisanship or political infighting go away, but it does provide a rallying point that has boosted national morale.

Exactly Scoop.
Keep secrets you say?
However, remnants of the helicopter, including a nearly intact piece of its tail, suggested that the aircraft involved in the raid wasn't the typical MH-60 Black Hawk flown by special-operations forces. Aviation experts who scrutinized photos of the scene say the tail had unusual features that suggested the helicopter had been extensively modified to fly quietly, while appearing less visible to radar.

The U.S. military has tried in the past to build a stealth helicopter, but has kept secret if it has indeed succeeded.

The wreckage in Abbottabad appeared to have exotic coatings and distinct surfaces and edges reminiscent of stealth aircraft such as the B-2 bomber and the F-22 fighter, aviation experts say. Equally important, they pointed to an unusual dishpan-shaped cover over the tail rotor, perhaps designed to make the aircraft quieter.

I don't really have a point, just thought it was kind of interesting and loosely related to whether or not we should know every little detail about the operation.

As someone who's job it was when I was in the Navy, intelligence it a LOT harder than it seems. There's more to it than looking at imagery and claiming "he's there... I think". The number of factors taken in to try to paint an accurate picture is mind boggling.

Maybe the reason for all the confusion and the painstaking effort to not offer any evidence of OBL's death is because he was actually taken alive and is being interrogated

GITMO info pays off.
Apparently not, according to John McCain:

”I asked CIA Director Leon Panetta for the facts, and he told me the following: The trail to bin Laden did not begin with a disclosure from Khalid Sheik Mohammed, who was waterboarded 183 times.

“The first mention of Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti — the nickname of the al-Qaeda courier who ultimately led us to bin Laden — as well as a description of him as an important member of al-Qaeda, came from a detainee held in another country, who we believe was not tortured.

“None of the three detainees who were waterboarded provided Abu Ahmed’s real name, his whereabouts or an accurate description of his role in al-Qaeda.

“In fact, the use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” on Khalid Sheik Mohammed produced false and misleading information….”

No doubt man.
The honest truth is we really don't know if Seal Team 6 was even involved. When Obama went to Ft Campbell to meet with the assault team, that told the world that Delta was involved. It also put Ft Campbell and more importantly the surrounding non secured community instantly at risk. Who didn't think terrorist will target off base families? The people spilling this info don't have a clue.
It would have been so easy to bring the Special Forces involved to Camp David for a weekend without any media coverage whatsoever. Who is advising him? I hope playing politics at the expense of our warriors and their families safety doesn't bite us in the ass.The only info that should have been put out is "Our Special Forces killed Bin Laden". No team numbers or units. No home bases.

Give it time Jack. We'll probably find out their real names, home address, what cars they drive, their Facebook page, Twitter account and email address.
