A. Gonzalez to the Bosox is a done deal.
If a guy like J. Werth gets 126 million how much should guys like C. Crawford and C. Lee ask for now?
Jays are looking at Z. Greinke while S. Marcum looks like will be packing soon for MIL in exchange for Canadian SS prospect Brent Lawrie.

Sad to see Marcum leave, but I have faith in Anthopolous....also, Lawrie is a second baseman I believe who struggled a bit with the glove last year - scouts say he'll likely end up at one of the corner outfield spots. Not really sold on the Greinke idea - depends on who we give up and if the 2009 or 2010 Greinke shows up. I would have stuck with Marcum at $850K for the next two years if it ends up being a swap of Lawrie/others for Greinke.
Re: MLB Season 2010
Marcum will be missed but he's too injury prone for my taste and his numbers are not that great against that tough Eastern division. While Greinke would be a nice fit in the rotation, Royals are asking for the moon too for his services, guys like Drabek, Snider and more prospects.fanatic wrote:Totally shocked by the Werth deal as well.10spro wrote:A. Grienke will thrive in the 'right' environment. You don't have the season he had 1 year ago, via smoke & mirrors. Phenomenal talent. Would love for him to remain in KC, some how
Re: MLB Season 2010
I also think he can regain close to his 2009 form...although a tough situation from KC's perspective in the sense that teams may not give up 2-4 high-end prospects in somewhat of a gamble that he does. Although there isn't too much on the market in terms of starting pitching right now.vinny-b wrote:fanatic wrote:Totally shocked by the Werth deal as well.10spro wrote:A. If he still struggles with social anxiety, then Toronto is perfect. We don't cheer or boo...

D. Jeter wasn't happy how negotiations went with the Yankees but he's back for 3 more years with an option at 51 million. I just didn't picture him anywhere else.
So which team is offering a 7 year deal to C. Lee?

So the supposed 6 year 150 million the Yanks offered is too much for you? Better get used to it. Re: MLB Season 2010
Edit: Nevermind my original post. I read Vinny's post as "the Yankees" instead of "not the Yankees".
It's interesting to see a new team joining the FA fray with the Nats going crazy with their money so far. Still not fun seeing all the other same few names being thrown about for the top few players.
They should just realign the leagues into the haves and the have nots. Then every year the WS would be a David vs. Goliath matchup

I can get used to it. It's better then bein a perennial non-contender. But it's not my preference via how to run the organization. Yankees have many high-end arms in their system. Likely the deepest starting pitching depth in the minors. Even if it takes 1 to 2 years better to wait on these young arms..dbdynsty25 wrote:So the supposed 6 year 150 million the Yanks offered is too much for you? Better get used to it. LOL.

I actually think that thats an interesting idea.matthewk wrote:They should just realign the leagues into the haves and the have nots. Then every year the WS would be a David vs. Goliath matchup
Something like that has been done before. Its kinda how the NHL handled their 1967 expansion from 6 to 12 teams. They put all the new teams into their own division.
Wont ever happen but it would be cool for us, you know, the fans

Re: MLB Season 2010
Obviously you haven't looked at the Braves farm system. They have one position prospect in the top 100 and the rest are all pitchers. I guarantee no one in baseball would rather have their pitching prospects over the Braves. It's THAT good. The only problem is that they've already got 6 legit starting pitchers on the MLB Roster! It really is insane how little depth they have outside of their pitchers. And that one position guy, Freddie Freeman is going to start at 1B next year...so no more position guys with any real shot anytime soon.vinny-b wrote:I can get used to it. Damn the Bosox look tough to beat.
Re: MLB Season 2010
True. The Braves system has excellent pitching. A main difference between the MILB Braves/Yankees is at this time the Yankees don't have a pitcher on the level of Julio Teheran. This is subject to change, if Betances pitches a full season in 2010. Banuelos is right there too.dbdynsty25 wrote:Obviously you haven't looked at the Braves farm system. Re: MLB Season 2010
I had lunch at Progressive Field today, the Tribe's doing this thing called "Snow Days" through the holidays this year. They built a huge sledding hill off the bleachers, they put in a skating track around the field, there's a small hockey rink and a snow maze. Not bad for ten or twenty bucks, eh? They'll probably make more money off this than they will selling Tribe tickets, ha!

Re: MLB Season 2010
Not if they leave the field as is...Could be a more extreme version of the Green Monster.lexbur wrote:They'll probably make more money off this than they will selling Tribe tickets, ha!

I have a new team to hate now.
C. Lee to Philly. Wow, what a rotation that is.

were happy to receive the news. Philadelphia saved the NYY front-office from themselves. 7 years/150 million for a 33 year pitcher, would've been a disaster. Hopefully Cashman doesn't make any knee jerk moves and force any short-sighted trades. And if need be prepare to go to war with what they have. Games are not won in the off-season
