It's nice to see someone enjoy Backbreaker. For me it's a nice pickup and play game for 15-25 minutes at a time.

It only takes about 10 minutes or so for me to realize how bad it is (for me i am not trying to start another debate), I even went through the process of getting all those NFL teams into the game at one point hoping it would make me enjoy it. Too bad the trade in value was non-existent literally 2 weeks after release so it will forever be in my library, kind of like March Madness 10 a game that is literally broken and I can't play because it frezzes but i digress.Rodster wrote:It's nice to see someone enjoy Backbreaker. People say this was a great year for Sports titles, I found it rather disappointing with the exception of NHL and NBA

Re: Backbreaker Preview - Natural Motion based football titl
This year football gaming has been a bust for me. I was really hoping that Backbreaker was going to be enough to keep me satisfied, but it just doesn't.
I tried it again last night after a month or so away from it, hoping something would "click" for me. It was fun at first, but then the bugaboos started appearing. Backs falling face first after touching the back of the blocker in front of them, Running plays getting blown up way too often with no chance of escape, a CPU opponent that can't seem to score unless I let them. I noticed all of this just last night, and it sucked the fun right out of it for me.
It really is an innovative take on football gaming. It's a different way to play, and I love the concept. The problem lies in the exectution.
I want to like it, I really do, because I am pretty much burnt out on Madden. Even 2k5 has gotten old (as in I've played it to death, not that it's 6 years old). My football gaming started dying out last year, and has now come to an almost complete halt. There just isn't a fun football game out right now unless you go back to the last generation.

Matt, are you on PS3? If you're 360, have you tried online?

I've never been much of an online gamer either, but with this game, online is where it's at. If you ever think you'd like to give it a shot, send me a friend request (my PSN ID is gthobbes). I'll be on a bunch this week.matthewk wrote:I'm on the PS3. I never game online.

This game is $20 today on amazon.com for PS3.
Re: Backbreaker Preview - Natural Motion based football titl
That's great to hear. They should stick with that price and catch some people who are looking for something different as we head towards the end of the NFL season and the playoffs. If people were willing to try it for a $1 on the iPhone, maybe they'll give the better console version a shot at $20, which is less than the price of a movie for 2 these days.Inuyasha wrote:This game is $20 today on amazon.com for PS3.

Which is why I bought the PS3 version last week for 9.99 from Gamefly. Just a little something to mess around with.GTHobbes wrote:That's great to hear. GT nobody wants to play you, we know better.

Re: Backbreaker Preview - Natural Motion based football titl
The way my defense is playing this week, I'm sure DB would be able to score some points against me. Either I'm getting worse or the guys I'm playing are getting better. Probably a little of both. Still 33-2, 6th overall though, so I'm enjoying it.Rodster wrote:GT nobody wants to play you, we know better.![]()

We will see if I decide to put in any time on it. It is way different than anything else so its gonna take me a while to get up to speed.

Re: Backbreaker Preview - Natural Motion based football titl
My advice would be not to spend too much time offline, other than creating a team or two you really like and getting the hang of the timing of the juke move in tackle alley. The juke can be deadly every time you touch the ball. You can get the hang of the rest by playing online, where you won't see any weird s*** but will learn some things from guys who know what they're doing.dbdynsty25 wrote:We will see if I decide to put in any time on it. Re: Backbreaker Preview - Natural Motion based football titl
Thanks for the offer, but I don't think online is going to aleive my issues with the game. A lot of these things can't be fixed by simply playing another person. Maybe I'll try it one of these days just to see if online can at least make it a little more fun. Offline for me is pretty much dead. Each time I come back to it I have fun for a while, but then I begin noticing the problems again. After two nights with it, I was back to swearing I was done with it.GTHobbes wrote:I've never been much of an online gamer either, but with this game, online is where it's at. Matt, it may be that the game just isn't for you, but given your comments I'd be curious to hear what your issues are. Playing against a good online opponent is a great chess match and provides the most balanced football game I've ever played. I've got two teams (both consisting of Steelers' Greats) -- one's a 79 overall, and one's an 88. If you can drum up a squad that might compete, you really should give me a game sometime before swearing it off for good.matthewk wrote: Thanks for the offer, but I don't think online is going to aleive my issues with the game. Re: Backbreaker Preview - Natural Motion based football titl
I was gonna post this in the Madden thread but didn't want to stir up even more s*** today, so I figured I'd post it in the nowhere land that is the BB thread. I saw Ian Cummings post this info on Twitter today, and Pasta Padre has a story up about it. EA is apparently able to track all of the offensive and defensive plays called by everyone, and they've got a list showing the top 50 most commonly called plays. The list shows that, out of the top 50, a full 35 of the plays result, on average, in negative yards. As one might guess, all 7 of the play action pass plays on the list average negative yards.

Unbelievable. And BB is supposed to be the unrealistic first year title. Yeah, ok.

That has nothing to do with Backbreaker GT and it is getting tiresome. Thread locked. You want to start a new Backbreaker thread feel free but keep it on topic.
