That was BEAUTIFUL by Buff. Highlights are all I have from this game. I flicked on my DVR at about 10:30 last night and learned, much to my horror, that I forgot to set it for this game!

Very smart move by Quenneville to break up the lines. The highlights and analysis that I've watched also have indicated that Chicago brought much more intensity last night.
And some of the defensive breakdowns by Philly -- especially on the Kane goal -- looked a lot like Chicago in Game 4. Very poor positioning and a lot of puck-watching.
Still, the home team is 5-0 in this series. So I fully expect a Game 7 Friday night. There's nothing wrong with more hockey!

Anyone know the actual rule for a linesman getting the ref to call a high stick penalty?
In the first period Gagne hit a Chicago player in the shield and the refs missed it, and the commentators said the linesman couldn't get involved because there was no blood.
But then when Briere got hit under the shield in the 3rd period there was blood dripping on the ice, but apparently the refs told the linesman they didn't want to hear about it.

The thing with big Buff is that he lacks consistency in his play. He's the real deal when he's motivated but goes through some misterious disappearances that would drive any coach mad. He was a monster again last night and if the Hawks win it in 6, would it be outrageous to give him the Conn Smithe trophy? He was an impact player in game 5, Toews had his ON/OFF moments as well and Kane hasn't done much since...I can't remember. But when Byfuglien is ON, he can be a dominating player, good enough to win a game or series as proven vs VAN & SJ.
The quest for the Cup is a grind, players will go through different battles but you don't want to wake up a sleeping giant when your against the ropes.
Big decision for Laviolatte I think is, who does he start in goal for the Flyers in 48 hours? In what it could be the most important game for Philly fans, the position in between the pipes is weak to say the least at the worst possible moment.

This is a fun point of discussion, for sure. I'd go with Boucher. I don't see how you can throw a goalie out there in a must-win game when he's already been bullet-riddled and pulled twice in this series. Leighton may be great at home, but I've gotta believe that even one Hawks goal in Game 6 would have him looking over at the bench...no way to play in the Finals.10spro wrote: Big decision for Laviolatte I think is, who does he start in goal for the Flyers in 48 hours? Leighton was unbelievable to start the first last night, he couldnt do any more, the team in front did nothing so it was only a matter of time, Boucher will not be any better thats for sure.
If Philly scores first last night it would have changed the whole game, i just think even tho one of the goals was kinda soft he did his job and did it outstandingly well. He has 18 guys in front of him that coulda helped out a little.
I think the hawks were just unstoppable last night.
Leighton for sure in game 6 ans i cant wait.

Ya he will probbaly go with Leighton. The guy is so far undefeated at home in the playoffs. The other thing is that Boucher has gotten the losses when Leighton was pulled cause the Flyers kept scoring while their goaltending never stopped sucking....Jimmydeicide wrote:I think the hawks were just unstoppable last night.

I think the point is moot anyway. The Hawks win those three no matter who is in net.
I cant wait for wednesday nights game either....To watch Toews hoist the Cup.

No, philly win cos this has to go 7 it cant end yet. In 7 i dont care who wins but i am edgingfor philly at this point unless they go up a couple of goals in game 7 then it will be hawks for the comeback, im just digging it big time and this will send me into the world cup a happy man.
I just cant keep enough beer around.

Eh, what else is new? Leighton was pretty good when the hawks were dominating in the first 10 minutes, but goals 2 and 3 were soft. 10 quality minutes just isn't good enough to be lousy the rest of the game. The flyers had a chance to make it a game, but that opportunity passed when Leino and Richards both missed open net chances.10spro wrote:In what it could be the most important game for Philly fans, the position in between the pipes is weak to say the least at the worst possible moment.
I think the flyers have a good chance to make the home team 6-0 Wednesday, but I wouldn't bet on the flyers for game 7, though it surely would be a wild game. As a flyers fan, I have to hope this goes like last year's finals, where the home team won the first 6 games and game 5 was a blowout for the favored team.
I'd also go with Boucher for game 6, not because I think he'll perform better than Leighton, but perhaps to spark the team.

Hell no. End it now!...Though I always do want that game 7 when I dont care who wins.ScoopBrady wrote: As for me, I don't want a game 7.
What I find disturbing are the f***in retards calling in on talk radio here who do want to lose so they can win it at home...woah! Plus its always cool when guys who have watched 2 minutes of hockey in their lives call in to give coach Q their sage advice.
Every time I catch a minute of sports talk radio I remember why I have a Zune in the car.

You know what? I wouldn't. To me Boucher doesn't look 100% yet and to be honest I was quite surprised that they declared him ready to go at the end of the Habs' series. And if Leighton keeps his fine form at the Wachovia centre, the Flyers continue with their strong forecheck that we saw in games 3 and 4 this series may go back to CHI yet.
Also Carter needs to score some goals and Richards to continue showing his grit. With the extra day off, Pronger will be ready to erase his lousy night in game 5 and Philly just seems to play very well at home in front of their crowd.
Personally, I'd love to see a game 7.
Quick prediction. Leighton, Carter and Richards must step up their game to prolong this series. C. Pronger skirt and all can't possible have two awful games in a row but he's vital to his team. Put more traffic in front of Niemi, I still think he's got rebound issues so you have to crowd his crease.
We still haven't seen the best from Toews and Kane yet which is scary to say, if their veterans like Madden, Sopel and Hossa can control the emotions of this exciting moment for the Hawks, they may just do it tonight. I think if they score first, it's lights out for PHI.
Will the third time be the charm for M. Hossa?

So much for the complaint from Blackhawks' fans that the zebras are swallowing their whistles when Pronger commits a penalty.
Horrible defense by Timonen on Big Buff's PP goal. He turned the Flyers' PK box into a 3-1 zone. Not smart. Stay at home, son!

It helps when he gives the zebras three penalties to choose from on a single given play.pk500 wrote:So much for the complaint from Blackhawks' fans that the zebras are swallowing their whistles when Pronger commits a penalty.
Great pace to the first period. Nice dive by whichever Flyer forward it was who drew that penalty on Seabrook. The PP didn't amount to anything, but it was useful as a way to get us all ready for World Cup soccer. LOL

Message to Duncan Keith: Try using your body to tie up Hartnell in the crease instead of a cheap slash next time on the PK.
Odd that the refs are calling such a tight game regarding interference when enforcement has been pretty lax for most of the playoffs, eh?
